august vlog 🌞 art show + haul
how the rest of the summer went for me - august was a very busy month lol
in this vlog, I prep for another art show that took place at the end of the month and it was HOT. & enjoy a little art haul of some goodies I bought from a few of my favorite artists awhile back. I also went to blick to restock on paper, and I went to a carnivorous plant event and bought a few babies 🌿 I hope you enjoy the video!

Hey! Don't apologize, I'm happy to answer! So I use "just THAT round brush" by Halleyvision! This is the older version though, she has an updated version on her kofi. She also has other brushes that I believe are free as well! ☺️
& I use procreate on a iPad 6 (it's old lol) with an apple pencil!

Love your line weight! Is that brush specific or carefully controlled pressure?
@Elirum hey! Thank you! ☺️ so I use "just that round brush" by Halleyvision! I believe it's free, but it's been awhile since I downloaded it! And it took me some practice to learn how to use, but now it's one of my favorite brushes to use! So a bit of both I guess? 😅
I love painting details because it just makes the painting look more alive and I can see the product coming together beautifully
@morichan7336 I love that! Sometimes I love it, sometimes I'm so done with a painting I just want it finished lol but that's something I need to work on! Being more patient 😅
I finally got an 18/0 brush! Detailing is a bit easier now 😊

I may be good at drawing a character but I am really bad at naming them so can't help you much 😔 But i like the opposite color theme going on like blue instead of skin colour makes her seem really cool I think if she had a power that would definitely be related to ice power like that creature I think their name is big foot or something/ice queen. ice demon is a cool idea.

So pretty! 😍 where I’m living now we get wild sunflowers so they grow in random places, but a neighbor planted a cluster of them on her lot so i see these 6 ft tall flowers every time I go get mail 😊
Omg that sounds amazing. I just love sunflowers, we'll grow some in our garden every year but I want more. Like a forest of them lol ☺️
I get a little impatient between layers but I’m doing a little better lately I feel like. 😅 do you feel like you have to use different techniques when you’re using different paper? Like I know wood-pulp paper is different from cotton so I work around that. I use wet on wet on cotton paper but I never would do that with wood-pulp. She’s looking fabulous btw 🤩
I get impatient sometimes lol 😅 so...I don't know if I've ever used wood pulp paper? I've only noticed the paper I use say cotton, but I may try wood pulp paper!
@@flossyarts wood pulp paper is cheaper and great for practice pieces. However, the main difference that you can tell is that cotton soaks the paint with wood pulp it sits mostly on top which is mostly why i don’t recommend wet on wet technique and it doesn’t blend as well as cotton but you can still make great art with it 😊
I enjoyed this video so much! Your painting came out beautifully and I absolutely love hearing about your experiences and favorite artists! I’m a huge fan of Greta Lusky as well!!! 🥰 I also love the way that you handle watercolor. I could never 😭 it feels like you have so much control over such a fluid medium. I’m not sure if you’re taking video suggestions, but I would love to know if you have any watercolor tips for beginners or if you could share you journey with how you became comfortable with watercolor. 🥹☺️ oh! And your mic sounds awesome and indeed, very podcasty.💕
Oh thank you so much!! Gretlusky is amazing, I love her work with DC and her little mermaid sketches <3 It definitely took me a bit of practice to get used to it, and I personally had an easier time with hot pressed (smoother) than cold pressed because I like to do more defined lineart and details. <3 I feel the same way with acrylic and oil though lol I feel like I don't quite know what I'm doing! & yes, I'm so grateful for suggestions! I would love to do a watercolor tips video, and I hadn't thought of sharing my art journey before, that's a great idea! Lol and thank you, it's a huge improvement from the mic on my phone and I'm happy I was able to find something on a budget - I'm still figuring it out, but all this is a learning process!

Why ain't my pencils penciling like that bro?
I find that most colored pencils are too soft! Like prismacolor, so I use hard leaded ones or the col erase pencils by prisma!

Lovely work! Found you through threads and really enjoyed your style. I had a similar feeling with oils-I hated it at first and aside from drawing it’s the only medium I use to create.

thank you so much! that's not a rude question at all, I'm happy to share any tips and be of any help! <3 So I use the prisma col erase red pencil, but they have other colors! I did try watercolor pencils, but I just love the col erase series. I was using some colored pencils before, but they have to be hard lead. Prisma color pencils are too soft for lineart, imo! I have a video on my channel showing how I do lineart, it's short but I think it can be helpful for some!

The hues on this pieces are so soft looking. Do you blend the colors a lot?
the artist's oc (karenyumilusted on ig) has purple to pink gradient hair, so I did a blend for that effect! And I actually waited for the purple to dry first before putting the pink on top!
