I have a 2008 Nissan Altima, 4cyl. My son & I just watch this vid. & we have NEVER done anything like this before. It looks like he covered everything in this video, "step by step". (which is helpful!) So we are off to be mechanic's for the first time.. I will come back in here & give an update when we are done. (May the Force be with us, lol)
Well, "about" 3hrs later we got it ALL done. there were a few more hoses in the way & kept dropping a few things. But we got it done... Only issue is after we burp it & let it run for a few mins. My car started to overheat Again. & i already changed out the Radiator. So the only thing i can think of is the "Water Pump". But i do want to say this IS the best step by step vid i Have ever seen. thx for the Help.
@@johnseager9791thank you brother 🫵🏼💪🏼. I hope you and your son enjoyed the most important part of it, the bonding time . Love. Yes I would change water pump if you’re over heating. 👌
Very well done bud.
Is this a p1217 code for that ?
“I used this to get to get to it” bruh what is this!? 😂😂😂 12mm? 11, 10?
If you pay attention. You will know. I can’t hold your hand lil bro.
Looks just like the 09 Spec V
Thanks 🔥
I mounted the fuse for the amplifiers in exactly the same spot and same hardware on my 09 altima. 😂 I bought the base 2.5 model that didn't even come with a radio because of the price and I wanted to do my own sound system and wheels. I bought this car new in December of 2008 for $17,500. Now I'm watching videos on how to fix it.
You did a great job on this. 16-foot pound of torque. That is what I was told.
This was a real informative video. Thanks!
Yeah this is way too much work for a amateur. Got lost immediately. All i did was change my coolant and hope for the best. Not 100% sure if my thermostats are bad, but I did get that P0128 code. The Coolant was pretty dirty though.
You can do this as a amateur. Just take your time . It’s actually simple
Hello. I have a 2010 Altima 2.5L. My check engine light is on due to a thermostat warning. My engine heats up a little late but not too late. When I took out the thermostat, the top part was completely close and the bottom completely open. What can be the problem? TY
Good info at 69 I never seen two stats on one car🧐🧐🧐🧐
Good job👍🏻
Are both thermostats the same part?
Hello but you don't tell what problem have vehicles to replace this.
Maybe the car needs to replace hedgasket.
Heater pipe stuck sprayed it pb blaster hit it with a mallet shit .... that shit won't move if you wiggle it by hand 😂
Just finished mines this helped a lot!! (i got a 2010 altima)
What is the hose called that goes to the firewall?
Good video…very helpful. Thanks!
Just finished! Thanks for your video
Thank you dude. Im not sure why your video was so far out in the results when i searched for how to change this. So far you're the only one who actually did a step by step and didnt skip removing the housings. Unfortunately im gonna have my mechanic do this job.
Watched like 5 videos before this one that all missed stuff. Thank ya sm 🙏
Thank you so much This was the only video that show how to do it step by step and the only Nissan Altima 2008 I could find Thank you
Factory torque specs are 16 FOOT/POUNDS for every one of those fasteners you were working with (I don't know where you got 80 Foot/Pounds, maybe you meant Inch/Pounds).....
I have an 07 Altima and I don't feel the bolts for getting the heater pipe out. It is so odd. I thought 07-12 models are all pretty much the same, right?
They are there on one top and one on bottom 2 total . Not saying your wrong . Maybe give it a second look and take your time make sure you have located the correct pipe .
Good video MauriceD! Thank you for the clear information.
Best auto repair video ever!
Boston is easier than the top just did one but your video is true others cut corners on hard part👍
whats bonnies last name? or what does ur tattoo say?
Bonnie akin
Thank you for the video. Is there any kind of adhesive I need to add to the gasket that goes on the water inlet or does it seat fine while you remount the housing?
Good video but 2 things... 1. On the water control valve you have the thermostat in wrong. THE SPRING GOES INTO THE ENGINE. 2. The torque you said for the bolts was for the V-6. Torque for the 4 cyl. is 16 lbs.
The way he installed it is exactly how it comes out stock from the factory.
You need a nut tray magnet you gonna drop all your shit
Nice work! Thank you for your time to film this video
How did you put the heater pipe back on
I just stuck it back on and bolted in
Very concise language. Excellent video
When. your have 6 or 8 mm bolts I would think torque specs would be in inch lbs, definitely not more than 15 to 20 ft lbs, lucky you didn't break them off, great video
Yea I couldn’t find any information on them. I just cross my finger in this part but lucky I didn’t and I also didn’t have to retighten from leaks or anything either. If you know the specs please feel free to post them for future purposes. Thank you for the feedback ✌🏼✌🏼
Maurice is this Nissan 4 or 6 liter? I have a 6 and things are a little different. Three screws to take off that front piece and I don't see the thermostat.
This is base model 4 banger a 2.4liter not the V6 3.6liter your referring too correct? (Not 100% on the liters). It I think your says you have a v6. Mine in video is 4cylinder
@@MauriceD101 Anytime I have a repair on this car the four-cylinder is so much easier I can’t find any information on the six cylinder so I’ll just take it in the garage as usual lol thank you
I saw another video where they called both parts thermostats. They both do look like thermostats. Are they both totally different parts?
They look similar and they are both refereed too as thermostats but do not confuse them they are two different parts. One is technically the water control valve which is the one located on the side of the engine inside of the manifold
Thank you bro 🙏
Great vid. Awesome job and good information.
Did you put any silicone or anything on the gasket
no sir. just cleaned up the area where the gasket sits.
Thank you
It was a great video. I got a question are the 2005 interchange Bull with 2008
I bought a mishimotto thermostat it doesn't fit the bottom thermostat housing is it designed for the top thermostat housing is that why it won't fit are both thermostats the same size?
such a good video. I would like to help you as well - straight out of the Haynes repair manual for 07-12 Altima: Thermostat and and water control valve housing bolt torque specs are 16 ft-lbs for 4 cyl engines, and 87 in-lbs for 6 cyl engines. According to the manual, 87 in-lbs translates to approximately 15 ft lbs, but is expressed as inch pounds because torque wrenches can be less accurate at smaller values.
Wow Ty I will pin your comment 😇
Clarification - 87in lbs is NOT equivalent to 15ft lbs, I read the manuals disclaimer wrong. It just states that torque values below 15ft lbs are expressed in inch pounds. Do NOT torque thermostat housing bolts down to 15ft lbs if you have a V6 lol
It is 192 in lb
The manual states 16 lbs. for 4 cyl. NOT 60
Great thanks for that information!!
Hey brother do you need put silicone on the gaskets
Nope not at all my man
Thank you!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏 THANK YOU! this video is prefect man you should do more videos I subscribed just because damn this was a great video
nice job. I have been having an issue with a P0128 which basically triggers when you do not get hot fast enough, so I replaced both thermostats with genuine Nissan. When I monitor via OBD2, with the AC running, it still does not get hot enough, staying under 185 or so, still do not understand why. With the AC off, the temp works perfectly going to around 205, no code. I have also replaced the sender. Just weird with no answers. I am going to take out the thermostats once again to make sure they are facing the correct direction, though I doubt that will make a difference. If anyone has suffered this issue, and solved it, please respond. It is annoying.
Your fan turns on when you run the AC. It’s supposed to drop. That’s normal.
@@GirlsNDragons Yes, but is it supposed to trigger the P0128?
Thank you so much. Your video is great. It really helped me alot.
No need for the music. I'm trying to listen to your very clear instructions but I'm getting a head ache. Your video is entertaining enough because it's informative. No need for a sound track
Thanks for your input but I like the music. And I think I’ll be keeping it in any future videos. 👌🏼❤️😬
can you tell the name of the part that covers the radiator
