    Where do you get your wheat?

    • @ThePrepperMom
      @ThePrepperMom 3 дні тому

      We either purchase in 50 lb bags from a Inland Feed or in bulk from another local Feed Store which is Kaniksu Feeds. Both are in Deer Park, WA. You can get half or full ton from Kaniksu. There feeds are locally grown.

    Great information about the benefits of grain sprouts. I have done fodder before but great to know there is more protein in the sprouts. Do you still light the coop along with the sprouts or just use the sprouts alone?

    • @ThePrepperMom
      @ThePrepperMom 9 днів тому

      Thanks for your question. We still have a light on in our coop but its more for convenience. That being said we should put a timer on their light. Our coop is one of the stalls in our barn that we converted to a coop. It has a small door going out to their run and then that has a gate that lets them into their pasture. How many chickens do you have?

      @@denisehooper9480 Oh that's awesome. I just started more as I want to start flushing my Finn sheep ewes this coming week. Let me know how it goes. It took about 4 days and then I started seeing the egg count increase. It was pretty impressive. You'll notice best results when your hens are 1 to 3 years old. I am excited for you. :0)

    One tip for air travel -- you can't bring water through security, but you can bring an empty bottle and fill it after going through the scanners. Many airports have a water bottle fill station near the bathroom. I pack paracord and a hammock in case I have to sleep at the airport for some reason.

    Nice. I keep in mine: . A fixed blade knife . Trauma Pak . Flashlight . Batteries . Light sticks . Two Bic lighters . Storm proof matches . Hand sanitizer . Hand warmers . Winter Hat . Disposable masks . Gorilla Tape . Compass . Protein Bars . 5 Hour Energy shots . Two water bottles . Pry bar . Pepper Gel . Two emergency ponchos . Emergency blanket . Small Swiss Army knife . Pocket Constitution . Two Bandanas . Paracord (100 feet, 550) I was thinking about keeping a package or two of emergency drinking water in there.

    Summer feed for chickens

    • @joanhaney4194
      @joanhaney4194 3 роки тому

      We feed sprouted grain mostly during the fall and winter. Our chickens are able to free-range and eat, bugs, grass, etc... so they don't need the extra protein boost in the summer... where we live.

      Thank you for your comment. We had a large fire start 4 miles from us last Sunday. It burned 15K acres, 27 homes and a lot of our friends had to evacuate. Thank heavens everyone had their 72 hr kits and radios so we could coordinate evacuating cattle, horses, families and then run radio communications 19 hrs a day to keep everyone informed. The fire has slowed down a lot, 47% containment, but not over. Thank you.
