You clowns shouldn't have wanted to chase him out of the water, he knows them dogs are still close and next time they chase him could be his end. Let him relax in the water as long as he wanted and you clowns should just move on.

Years ago while hunting in Maine we would shoot dogs chasing deer in the woods, once they tastse the blood they never stop. Found several deer lying dying after there legs were chewed off left to die. I never knew if it was a state law but game wardens when met in the woods would tell you to shoot the dogs and we did with out hesitation.

You young people are great examples for others to see. I am a deer hunter, but I would have done the same thing just to protect the deer. I have shot at dogs chasing deer when hunting and scared the life out of them, never seen them again. The dogs that is. Great job!

A friend of mine was accosted by several dogs while walking alone in the woods. Had him backed up against a creek [about 300 ft across] wanted to eat him. Had no choice but to attack them bare-handed. They ran away thankfully. About 60 yrs old.

feel very bad for those feral dogs they must be hungry but they simply don’t belong in the wild, Deer are prey to wild predators and endangered species, the deer looks healthy enough to feed a cougar or a pack of wolves/coyotes not feral dogs

God bless you. We used to camp on our beach property on Puget Sound. Early one morning I heard a loud wailing sound, so went down to the beach. A dear was laying there, unable to move. Down a ways I saw three large dogs standing still, but they sort of turned and I felt they may come back, but then they left. I put my sweat jacket over the poor deer, but she died. Over the years we would see deer washed up, usually with a large hole in the abdomen. Then I knew they had been run to death by those dogs. We tried to buy a rifle, but the waiting time was past when we were taking off. 😔

When I was about 10 yrs old ( 59 years ago) I was walking alone in a field with scattered trees. I heard that same sound of dogs chasing something. I looked around and about 100 yds away was a pack of dogs. They were heading straight for me. I immediately turned and ran and saw one tree maybe 25 or 30 yds away big enough for me to climb. I remember running and hearing them getting closer and closer. I was too scared to even look back. As I reached the tree I jumped and grabbed a lower limb and frantically started climbing. As my feet got high enough to not be grabbed by the dogs they suddenly arrived leaping and snapping at my feet. I hadn't made it a second too soon. I sat in the tree for a few minutes wondering how I was ever going to get away and home again. The dogs were baying and circling the tree trying to figure out how to get me. I finally realized that I had a powerful pellet rifle hanging by a strap over my back. This was one you pumped up and would go completely through a dove which I used to hunt, cook, and eat even at that age unbeknownst to my mother. She always wondered why I would rarely take a lunch to the woods for the day. I pumped it up, loaded a pellet took careful aim and shot one in the testicles. His response was very gratifying to see. I shot another and another and another all in similarly delicate areas. Soon they were 15 yards from the tree, I kept firing. Eventually, with the fun gone out of it from the dogs perspective, they left. To this day although I love dogs, I hate packs of dogs vehemently.

Some states allow hunting deer with dogs. Glad mine does not. Legal here to shoot a dog running deer.

Should it have been wolves they have to eat as well, and they are more endangered than then deer. You'll never teach a Wolf to be a vegan. I am not a hunter and by instinct I may have done the same thing, but don't hate the Wolf. Should bleeding hearts ever be in complete, prepare for a complete breakdown of the ECO system. I am an avid hiker and I don't try to interfere with nature, but sometimes our instincts and emotions overrule our intellect and we jump in to fix it. This was a lucky day for the deer, but not the wolf. Maybe bleeding hearts should stay in the city and stay out of the wild. The wild when looked at through supposed civilized eyes can look cruel, but that's nature.
