    Tonight I was thinking of an outstanding solo by Jeremiah, seven years ago at Liberty. "He's Able". His adlibs at the end were ringing in my head and I could not remember the origin for the life of me! Finally found it... Still true to how it was when I first heard the song. A few Google searches later informed me of his Idol run, and a trail of links eventually lead me here. Dr. Harmon, I know it was not easy for you to post this, and I would like to be the first on this public forum to commend you for the grace, candor, and courage with which you addressed this. It is amazing to see all that claim to be "tolerant" and "open-minded", while demanding that you and your views are silenced and annihilated - which is neither tolerant nor open minded. It is clear to me, and likely silent others, that you love your son and want the best for him. Even after all the Idol craze dies down - or if it never does - you'll still be "Dad". And that's what counts. As often as God brings your family into my remembrance I will pray for you and yours. God bless you.

    Oh sir. I’m sad for you that you have so little faith in God’s plan that you think you have the right to declare love to be evil - and to preach that God lives only in a book written in a different time and not in the face of your child today. I’m praying you learn someday that there’s a difference between disagreeing with someone and calling them a deviant and a perversion. You’re the one who needs help, not your son.

    The man doesn’t even realize he’s a walking contradiction...he says he doesn’t reject his son he “disagrees” with certain aspects or “decisions” his son makes ...#1 he doesn’t understand that Jeremiah didn’t make this decision ,god made it for him..and I mean that from the bottom of my heart pastor Harmon. I pray that one day you understand your son ,that god speaks to you one day and reaches your heart..I fear that you’re gonna lose your son for good and it’s gonna be to late when you realize that god made him exactly the way he was meant to be !

    From another gay pastors kid, condemning your son at the pulpit like that is completely disgraceful. That was public shaming. If you were in Jeremiah’a position, that’s not how you’d want to be treated. Tough love has no love in it. It’s just bullying. Disagreement is rejection when someone’s sexual orientation is not chosen and can’t be changed. I was so glad to hear Jeremiah sing at Q Christian in Chicago in January. God blessed us with him, gay and all. I hope you realize that soon.

  • @jerryharmon9447

    Thank you for your recent comments. In the journey I have had with Jeremiah I have grown to a new level of love, respect, and compassion over the struggles that gay people have had to content with. I don’t hate anyone. This is not an anti-gay sermon. But I am simply expounding Romans 1. We love Jeremiah unconditionally. I loved him before he was before and will love him everyday throughout eternity and I express that to him all the time. Disagreement is not rejection. In fact sometimes one of the most loving things you can do is disagree with someone, not in a condescending or hateful way but graciously and lovingly. Our holy God has made clear in Scripture that homosexuality is a sin. It is a sin among many sins. We are all sinners, starting with me. As sinners we must repent before a holy God and trust the finish work of Christ who died to pay our sin debt. God demonstrated his love to us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. That is the plain simple gospel. If I tell Jeremiah or any one that God accepts them just as they are, I am essentially telling them that they don’t need the gospel or Jesus. God does love all people, yes! All people are created in the image of God, yes! That is why racism and prejudice are evil. Ultimately, racism and prejudice is an attack against God himself, who created all people in his image. But that does not negate the fact that we are all sinners as Scripture teaches which is why God lovingly sent His only Son to die for our sin. The love of God’s common Grace is unconditional. All mankind experiences that love everyday. But the love of God’s saving grace is conditional. It is conditioned upon a person repenting (turning away from) of sin and putting their complete trust in Christ and his death for them on the cross to atone for sin. I love Jeremiah and my children and all people so much that I want them to experience the fullest expression of God’s love in Christ. So my loving disagreement with Jeremiah over the errant ideas he has embrace is not me rejecting him. I will never do that. If I tell him God loves him just as he is I am actually alienating him from the greatest love he could ever experience. The special saving love of God in Jesus. I hope that makes my position clear. By the way, thank you for loving my son. I’m glad his music has blessed you as it does us.

      I'm afraid I disagree with your MISinterpretation of GOD's words in the Bible!! You as a preacher should realize that those things you say on your pulpit are hurtful & hateful & can only lead to tragedy & self hatred for those who listen to & believe your words!! You sir, are so very WRONG in so many ways!! JESUS LOVES us all & it is HE who died on the Cross for us all because of men who did not want HIS Word to be accepted so they Crucified HIM!! HE was sinless & yet knowing this HE was still put to death to pay for our sins!! Now there are MIS-interpretors of HIS Holy Word spreading hate & ignorance all over the world under the disguise of religion ... this is NOT why GOD sent HIS only SON here to die on the Cross ... JESUS came so that we could all be forgiven ... not just the chosen ones by society today!! I will Pray for you & your son that you will finally turn away from your hurtful beliefs & accept that it is GOD's WILL & not yours ... Judge not lest ye be judged!! BTW ... GOD does love Jeremiah just the way he is because that's the way GOD created him ... you need to accept that FACT & quit fighting with GOD!! You'll only lose if you do!!

    • @jerryharmon9447
      @jerryharmon9447 5 років тому

      tatubert82 Sir, you said, “JESUS came so that we could all be forgiven.” My question to you is this, forgiven of what? If God accepts us just as we are why would anyone need forgiveness? You are proving my point. If all people are fine as they are there is no need for a Savior. I am a sinner and need a Savior. And yes Jesus came to save all who believe on Him and repent of their sin. Blessings

      @@jerryharmon9447 What are your thoughts on the genetic link to homosexuality? People are born with the DNA to love the same sex. God made him that way, so how is his in-born nature a sin? There is an evolutionary advantage to a portion of the population having gay-related genes, in that these gene variants were associated with more attractive individuals. But, these more attractive individuals in ancient times would have more sex partners than the others, leading to a decrease in genetic variability. This makes the population's offspring much more prone to disease or other disadvantageous environmental changes. Basically, the gay gene being an intrinsic part of attractive people's DNA gave other (genetically different) progenitors a chance to procreate, despite the abundance of their competitors' descendants. Don't claim that your son is "sinning" for being a part of God's plan for natural balance. It's literally in his DNA.

    I understand that you’ve been raised to believe certain things. But your words are misguided, and you should be careful about their impact - it causes great suffering in communities like yours, whether or not you claim to ‘love everyone’. If you’re looking for evil in the world, stop wasting time criticising LGBTQ+ people and look to the White House and big business who are bleeding poor Americans dry.

    I feel sorry for you "friend", honestly. We are only given one life and you're wasting it by spreading hate for no reason and no basis at ALL. You believe in something that does not exist, whereas your son and other gay people do exist and are hurt by your toxic fairytale-based speech... I hope you wake up before it is too late. I also hope Jeremiah finds the strength to walk away from you and enjoy his success with people who truly love him for who he is. And one final thing. You and people like you are becoming less and less as time passes. More and more people are waking up and starting to see the damage this nonsense religion has done to society and people's live.

    How can my very creation (by God) be a sin? "Erring children" you call them? You are saying their lives are a mistake. I thought God did not make mistakes. You may not understand why God created Gay people. He works in mysterious ways. This is what the word "Faith" means. God COMMANDS you to have faith in Him that He has His reasons. We are all different in many different ways - which should be celebrated - as gifts from God. And don't use my own words against me - about people creating a new god. This is what radical religious groups (which are just political groups in disguise) do. They have created what has come to be know as "Republican Jesus", and a new god in their OWN IMAGE, which is blasphemous.

    I came here because of the AMAZING gift that God gave to my world: Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon! God's universe continues to reveal itself so that we mere humans are able to change and grow and react to shifting data. It takes a lifetime and more to comprehend what is being revealed to our limited perceptions. I pray that Jeremiah's God-given mission has been revealed to you. I see it, and it has nothing to do with his sexuality; it has to do with his ability to share God's love ... just exactly what Jesus DID, and what Jesus ASKS of us. What a blessing!
