2/501 Recon 1970 July around Ripcord.101st a great bunch to work with !
Great bunch saved my butt more than once ,lot more firepower than a Recon team.69and 70 Recon 2/501
Do you have a name for the picture at 1:55 please? He looks like my work colleague Dave Dean, a veteran of the battle for Hill 937, mentioned in Samuel Zaffiri’s book Hamburger Hill for an act of incredible courage (amongst many), evacuating casualties from the hillside. I worked with Dave from 1988-97 & was told recently that he died in 2020.
Al Kump served from 67 to 72 101st so many years I couldn't get two words out of him, he passed in 2015 he lived a good life and was a good person. I will always miss him !

those brave warriors fought in a miserable war and got little credit
So from England and wanting to see and read the wall I found a site but with all respect to its keepers, its very dated Is there a newer version, maybe with better layout and easy look up I've read a lot of memoirs over the last few years and would like to look up some of the kids that served I could never afford to visit the wall irl so online it is RIP to all those young men
SALUTE, ALL OF YOU WERE REAL WARRIORS, THANK YOU
We looked so young and handsome back then! These guys died too young! I’m 72 and hope to make 80+! “STRIKE” Phu Bai was all right!
that was powerful cat,thank you!
Thanks for your great work and showing folks the faces of the young men who lived the times o'er there and many didn't make it back and the one's who did I hope had a good life and prospered as the years rolls by so quick..we sometimes forget and somethings can't be forgotten and maybe thats alright too. WELCOME HOME BOYS, Spc4 Doug, Co. E, 1/502, LZ SALLY...your neighbor. 68-69
Don't let sentimentalism determine how you view a video like this. What you are looking at is the result of an imperialistic America that thought the whole planet was it's "business". You are viewing an incredible waste of life. The war had NO effect on American safety, security and freedom. It was not their war. They chose to go, I did not. I was a Vietnam/Draft resistor and I could have easily been one of those names on a "Wall". Make no mistake about it, everyone had a choice...to deny that is BS. Every time I see my adult kids and all my grandkids there is absolutely NO doubt that I made the right choice. Take note that America had never learned a lesson from Vietnam. It was the Vietnam generation, no less, that oversaw the foolish and wasteful occupations of Afghanistan and Iraq for virtually 20 years. Be pissed off when you see this video.
I was in the 1/502, Co. E, at LZ Sally. I think the 2/501 was next to us. Their RECON platoon got caught in a bad ambush about fall of 69. Very sad day.
What did we accomplish in Vietnam, now we trade with them, clothes, furniture, house hold goods ect. What was the lives of these brave men for. I know one thing war is hell, nobody wins.
You’re absolutely right. And that seems to be the way of things. However, Vietnam is unique because the regime we fought against is the same regime we trade with.
Great soundtrack, until you use that OVERUSED music from We We're Soldiers. Really......every ass lick uses that stupid music.
M f from england
Vietnam vets. All heros men women donut dollys dogs ALL HEROS.🙏🏻👏🎖🎖🎖🎖
And those dogs were left behind - just wrong
Looking for Patrick O'Leary,Bravo 2/501 1969
Nice video. Brave men and women who served courageously in the Viet Nam war, thank- you for your service.
@the worthiness your comment is absolutely unwarranted and unwanted! These young men were not politicians they fought for their country and died in that fight. You want to chastise someone for that war well their names are John Fitzgerald Kennedy and the other was Lyndon Banes Johnson. Dude you need psychiatric help immediately - ask for Dr. Walter Freeman at your nearest psychiatric medical facility.
Thanks Sydney. I couldn’t find the words to reply to that guy but you summed it up nicely. My brother had 3 months left in his tour. He sacrificed his life to save one of his fellow soldiers. However, It doesn’t take the sting out after the knock on the door.
Whatever that "guy" said, I don't know. But I am a proud Vietnam/Draft resistor. I had a choice, so did everyone else. To deny that is total BS. I lived those times. I feel nothing but total disgust and anger looking at this video. The incredible waste of Americans. The hard reality is the US did NOT learn its crucial lessons on Vietnam...as it was the Vietnam generation that got us into even longer term "Vietnams" in Afghanistan and Iraq. Quit blaming the politicians and the public...or whoever. All those men made a choice. They are not automatic heroes...or victims of someone...b/c of their choice.
Thank you brave warriors.
Great job cat I was there it gives me chills what a great job you have done
Awesome job! My dad was in Vietnam. Doesn’t talk about it at all.

This video was very touching. I lost my oldest brother in Vietnam on September 4, 1968. He was with C Co 3/187 Infantry (ABN) 101st ABN division. I use his photo as my UA-cam icon. Thanks Cat.
Lost my uncle in NAM mid 3/1968 , Tail end of TET, 10 days B-4 my 11th bday. He was with 1st Cav ID Airmobile . He died near Pleiku , Central Highlands SouthVietnam!
@@luiscalcano4359 : I’m sorry for your loss. The 1st Cav was a hot unit from what I’ve heard. My brother was in an area known as the “Iron Triangle” when he was mortally wounded. It was a hornets nest, lots of enemy activity.
The news always started off the same way in those day, HEAVY FIGHTING in the Central Highlands of Vietnam claims the lives of.....America's Finest young men , you Aussie's are also well remembered for your sacrifice.
There will always be a special place in all our hearts for all of you brave comrades who fought for our freedom thankyou with all our hearts Hod bless all of you
