However, arrogance, conceit and delusions of power are themselves a massive weakness, to those who know how to use them against the arrogant aggressor. Just like in certain martial arts, you use your opponent's own energies and moves against them. Let's hope there's SOME Canadian politicians smart enough to do that.

Trump is looking at the world to pay of its debt. $1t every 100 days. Nuts. If USA wants to add Tariffs for its own country. Its on them to pay. Meaning if they want somethings they pay more. Maybe they will pay, and we still sell out Canadian products to the USA. And maybe they will buy less. Ok we make less in Canada. But if gov of Canada makes a tariffs on Canadian, that only hurts us. It makes no sense. The problems are all the Pollies making money of the people for rising the taxes on us. For USA to say its because of 20kg of fentenyol. Its their border, they protecte it. Canada failed by letting 1000s of immigrants to enter Canada from the USA. That is when Canada needed to protect the borders. GOV does everything backward. We have 3million house units to be built in Canada. $80b sitting in funding for building homes and they do nothing. Sicking. What needs to is stop sending our goods to USA and Start building up Canada. We need to become sustainable. Use our aluminum and steel to build green houses and we grow our own oranges 🍊. We build our own oil refineries. In BC, AB, NS, NL. We build up our own Ships and move oil to EU, protect the North. USA only 350m people and 8B outside the USA. Our Pollies are Stupid. They do nothing for Canadian. Cant build a high speed train, cant build a city, cant build refinery, cant build a military, cant grow a dame orange. All because those pollies and thier families and buddies are taking all our taxes. GREED is Canada problem. There is something much bigger than a tariff. Its to hurt the people for we are rising up against thier BS. What is going to happen is NL is leaving Canada. We have $Ts in our own Nature Resources. AB is going to leave Canada it has oil. QC will leave Canada, for they are French. The country of Canada will be no more. Yet Canada need to Export 25% to EU our oil, 25% to India our gold/wheat, 25% steel to Middle East, 25% seafood to Asia We have the most resources, next to China. We are only 37m there are 8b others to sell products to. Yet we need to stop funding other Nations and Build Canada. As for the cost of shipping, jesus we have our own oil. Its free. We can build ships/containers with our steel. The world is stupid with Greed of the Pollies and thier trade deals. Forget it all, and start moving our resources our of North America. Hey Ken…this is obviously concerning for small and big business and their stakeholders. I don’t have much faith in any politicians but if this is handled properly i do believe the damage will be minimal to canadian business although potential is there for major problems…tariffs this weekend will be short lived in my opinion. Regardless, it’s always best to hope for the best and prepare for the worst. You’re quite likely already aware but the Liberal government is working on a tariff stimulus package although not much is released yet explaining how small business can take advantage of it. You should make sure one of your people are on top of this so when it comes out, CHT can act quickly to benefit (if necessary). In the meantime, if theres anything i can do as a stakeholder, be sure to let me know…i’m happy to help with any back up plan initiatives…we gotta keep the CHT dream alive!

MILITARY/NAT SEC: despite being a founding member of NATO, Canada has NEVER (but maybe one or two years around the Afgan surge) contributed it's MIN obligation of 2% GDP spending to its defenses. Why is that the case? Because for 70 years we have laid back on our lorals believing that our big brother to the south of us would take up our slack. We have opened up the floodgates and had uncontrolled immigration from war zones such as (Iraq/Syria/Ukraine) and as a result, brought in with no questions at all people who want to do us (US/CAN) harm. In total agreement with you Ken. We too, would be affected, negatively, with our Hay exports. We have read numerous articles, from reputable sources, that state The Wall Street Journal is reporting that he will hold off on the tariffs while he awaits a review of the trade and currency imbalances with all 3 nations. (Did someone talk some sense into him?………, doubtful, very, very doubtful. Stockmarkets would dive, Trumps EGO would be damaged, which he could not stand, therefore, my only thread of hope, that he may reconsider implementing the Canadian tariff. We too, will be watching very closely, the actions of those running for office and voting for the ones who will make a difference.

with respect to Alberta and Premier Smith, my buddy out there pointed out to me this morning that Albertans feel like nobody cared about their oil industry when the country was trying to drive it into the ground, and now they want to use oil to help the nation out of this tariff mess. To me there needs to QUICKLY be some acknowledging of Alberta’s experience in terms of feeling support from other provinces and territories, so that we can quickly align on a united response.

Trump’s tariffs will be paid by US importers which will be transferred to US consumer - they are inflationary. Add to that the increased costs of reshoring manufacturing and the impending crackdown on immigrants which will cause labour shortages in construction, hospitality and agriculture . The inflation spike will force the fed to increase rates and the 10 year bond rates will go up, which will drive up the interest carrying costs to the US government by hundreds of billions. This will be self correcting because they simply do not have the domestic capability and capacity to manufacture all the products being tariffed at a competitive price. He has painted himself into a corner, our politician’s job is to engage in constructive negotiations to meet our needs and build a bridge he can walk back across having saved face.

I agree, he shouldn't lump Canada in with Mexico. Also, we have more illegals from the US now heading to illegally cross into Canada! we need to tariff the products from the US equally and charge more for our oil headed to the US. The Liberals need to be held accountable for the unregulated immigration of literally, terrorists , into Canada hence, trumps tightening Canadian boarders which we should have done years ago! Agree with you Ken. Our weakness has been our leadership over the last 9 years plus. We appear weak, we are weak and are treated as weak. Trump treats us as weak. Until we rise up and defend ourselves, and demonstrate leadership, this is how the world will treat us. Not just the US.
