THE COASTAL TOUR - Sodwana Bay to Aliwal Shoal (Scuba diving in South Africa)
In this vlog style travel video we made our way down to Kwazulu-Natal, which is home to some of the worlds best scuba diving destinations, found here in sunny South Africa.
First stop was Sodwana Bay, where we set up our camp and enjoyed some epic dives with our friends at Scuba Centre. Camping in the incredible iSimangaliso Wetland Park, near Mseni Lodge was a great touch to the trip. Saying goodbye to Sodwana, we headed south down the coast to Aliwal Shoal.
Aliwal Dive Centre was home base for a few days, where we did our first baited shark dive. This unique experience is something we will remember forever :)
uShaka Marine World was another spot on our list, so we headed out there and went into the aquarium. A must see when in Durban!

Mission: BASS - Rust de Winter fishing session

Headed out to Rust de Winter Dam during an intense heat wave. Smashed some bass, saw some crocs and got to test the boat deck that I built. Threw a variety of baits because the water level was extremely low. Had no idea what the bass were after but came right in the end. Crank baits and Flukes did the trick! Howsit. What weight rod/line do you use for yellows? New to fly fishing.
Howzit Codi! I’d suggest a 5/6 weight rod with matching fly line. Make sure your drag on fly reel is at least decent as the yellows can peel line off pretty fast.
Bru wheres this river? Only place near jozi ive ever fished for small scale is magalies river at the back or barbus haven or cradle moon. Id give my left nut to do some nymphing on this river.
Howzit David Haha! The river is in mpumalanga, Lydenberg hey. Only private access that I know of.

Why are you on the boat and not in the water? We fish vaal river a lot in and around Parys it's way easier to be in the water.
Howzit going! I fish both hey..During warmer months wading is the norm but sometimes I use the boat to access much deeper runs and to target surfacing fish on dry fly.This video was shot early winter so water temp was low so that’s where the boat comes in.
@@HecklerOutdoors I understand, we're fishing the vaal de graace stretch at the big daddy rapids. Sometimes we're brave enough to get out there during cold days, but honestly it's one of the best spots to catch in vaal river, always a successful day there. Some days it's just irritating with the river rafters, but it doesn't scare the fish away and you'll be sure to catch quite a lot there.
Cool video man. Could you find out what was the problem with the fish with the dodgy scales?
Thank you glad you enjoyed! I haven’t found out exactly what the issue is with the scales. I think it might be due to the stagnant water in the deeper section being poor quality. All the fish in the moving water up stream were fin perfect so I’m assuming that’s the culprit🤷🏽♂️ maybe someone out there has an answer for us?
The damage is interesting, it looks like it was confined to the bottom half of the fish? This is usually seen in spawning fish. It also could be predation. It doesn't look like poor water quality, as it seems you fishing in a small stream within a reserve with limited possible pollution sources. Unless some lodge discharging waste water.
