Hey glad to see another sellers on top of this issue like i am here is my theory based on the facts of the last 6 months My items are coming up in google organic search and also in google shopping search but im not doing off site ads im only doing PL standard at 3% ebay trying to make us pay for there advertising either Via PL listings or by doing off site ads which they have different names but they are both the same thing ebay just wants you to believe they do different things both PL and off site ads will now include your items in the daily feed eBay sends to google they are doing A/B testing that is why a lot of sellers were having and are still having bad sales or none at all i believe those are the sellers in the group that ebay did not include in the daily feeds if you were not using PL or Off Site ads then the other group was sellers who were not effected they were included in the daily feed to google no matter if they were using PL/Off site ads Or not i feel this 6 month test has come to an end i think we might all be included in the feed to google for Dec and come Jan they are going to cut of those that were in the group that was not effect from the google feed come Jan then we will be seeing the same thing that happen in April/may Many sellers complaining about dead sales the only choice those sellers will have is either to do Some type of PL or Off Site ads this is a brilliant idea by a company to cultivate at least 50% or more of there sellers and force them to do what they want and that is everyone using PL or Off Site ads....remember they might be different names but there one in the same they do the same thing and have the same effect they both Promote your listings on google shopping i also believe after the second round of A/B testing is done probably will be sometime in May or June (they will run it for 6 months starting in Jan) those in both groups that have not started to do either PL or Off site ads will no longer be included in the google shopping feed that eBay sends over to google everyday they only will get seen is if google spiders crawl the website and pick up there items and someone finds there item via Google Organic Search which is a lot more of a hit or miss then if your items are indexed in google shopping btw this is from experience having my own website since 2000 google buyers are different then eBay buyers they will go directly to the shopping tab if they are there to shop they don't want to mess with all the other junk that comes up in google organic search (general search) which majority has nothing to do with shopping or the item they are looking for. so to answer your question the reason this is all happening is because on the q3 earnings call ebay ceo told the shareholders that the company has no future plans to advertise to get new buyers or bring back old buyers this means any type of advertising including google Pay par click. i think in 2022 they dreamed up a plan to make there Sellers Pay for there Advertising hence the push for sellers to share there items on social media , eBay partnering with Social media influencers and last but not least PL and Off site ads if they can make this stick it will go down as the most ingenuous plan a company has ever implemented what other company do you know was able to make there employees foot the advertising bill?? i know of none! Not even amazon!
