1960 Big Brake Corvette Fuelie Paint the jambs *painting* clear coating* DIY Paint Job
Переглядів 177Рік тому
Didn’t film all of it but I am spraying the clear coat on all the jambs… I am using PPG Flex n Flat Clear… that is how the NCRS wants all the jambs done on these cars. They should be flat not glossy like the outside of the car. We will get the doors and trunk lid, deck lid, and hood bolted on beginning of this week and then we will paint the rest of the body. This car My sister and I have been ...

Tip of the hat to the restorer of a beautiful Corvette Only year for 396 makes this a special one
Just like the TV show
Dear Santa 🎅
Looks like my old Corvette Right color and all.
That guy's grandchildren probably have a hit out on you
Gorgeous, and beautiful spec
Cool find…. The TLC went a long way…. Just a tad bit of lifter ticking… hope this car goes to someone who will try best to keep it in original survivor mode.
Sweet Car I got one just like It but z06 Same options just different wheels and engine of course 60th anniversary you don’t see many 2013❤👈🏼💯👌🏼🔥🇺🇸
Knew when I saw the tag the frame would be shot, hope you purchase new frame
Frame was not shot. It was fine… I sold the car and the guy restored it. With the original chassis
@@corvetteswanted Restoration to me means pristine, as I do, not overlooking obvious danger.
@@mercman2.5 he sand blasted and powder coated the frame. Which is what all the big restoration shops do…. I sold it like it was at the end of the video… to each their own. But if I was to restore it I would have did the same also. Sandblasted and powder coated and used the original chassis… anytime you can keep the original chassis with the original vin stamping that is a HUGE plus. So if they are useable/fixable after sandblasting we use them.
A '65 fuelie coupe that ive wanted for forty-four years just landed in my shop Tuesday. 31,853 miles. Parked in 1976.
Not many things from 63 that looks as good as that car. except my wife.
Nice find.
My favorite corvette was on movie called King of the mountain
My favorite corvette was on king of the mountain movie
That frame isn’t safe……its junk
Thought you can straigthten the frame?
Frame is fine.. sold the car and the guy did a complete restoration to it and used the original frame! Car is now in a collection and completely restored!
63 split windows are all collector cars. Unfortunately, this one is an automatic.
I knew a guy from Michigan City, Indiana 46360 had a gold/gold 63 no side pipes no knock offs where in Michigan did you find it just curious 😊
The Split-Window was always one of my favorites!
I love this interior leather package ❤
Older video, SHARP CORVETTE, this is just what I like, a car you can drive and enjoy, the Black with Blue interior looks great, love to this CLASSIC ❤!
Incredibly beautiful. Black on red...wow, absolutely stunning. I miss my Dad's '66 😢, and my Dad.
Does your truck only take Premium 😢also
I could stare at the back end of that car all day like a shapely woman
What a beautiful machine.
The "62" Corvette is one of my dream cars.
The "62" Corvette is one of my dream cars.
Beautiful!!😁🛠️🔧👍
What a awesome car the seats look like a couch that's the only minus, GM and in general American cars had that handy cap
Had the same car in Glen Green w/ white droptop & 327/365 hp w/factory side pipes. Fast & sweet!
wow i would love to help you with that !
That car really was a work of art. Nice save.
I love good driver-grade cars the best.
I read that lots of customers did not like the split window design and had them converted to single window. Might be just an urban legend.
I have heard that all my life… I have owned a lot of 63 split window Vette’s in the last 15 years and have only ever bought 2 that someone removed the rear split window from… so it isn’t as common as they say… I will agree that the split does make the rear view mirror pretty much useless.
is this car still forsale???
Couldnt care less about ncrs numbers match etc who cares. Its the end product these are for having fun with not storing.
The hood does not fit properly. Could be distorted or the results of damaged driver's side fender. The 66' cars still had the single compartment master cylinder. They also did not have collapsable steering column. Seeing all the awards basically shows the owner invested weeks and weeks of time as Corvette shows to get judgment. One or two NCRS awards is sufficient. More means nothing addotopmal.
Funny car had an original unhit body… I have photos of it stripped down to bare glass.
Stopped driving the car in 1971 and sat in the garage all these years - incredible! The car probably has the least desirable paint and interior colors, but what can you say, it's a '63 Split Window Corvette!
Outside it beautiful, but they waited too long to upgrade the interior. Ram had them beat by 5 years on the interior quality - fit, finish and materials used.
I’m not sure about the parked since 72 part. Vettes aren’t usually daily drivers and it was only 9 yrs old when supposedly parked in a dry house garage.
Do you sell any of the Vettes? I'd be interested to know
Sell them all! Check my instagram acct out: @corvetteswanted. I post them as I buy them…
7000 RPM tack is correct if it is a real early 69 model
Looks like the one I had. If cast iron 4-speed, it was 250 hp. If aluminum BW, it was 300hp or more.
A travesty of automotive injustice to leave a car like this to collect dust. Drove a split window in Chicago area 1966-7 era belonged to a friend's in laws. Baby blue 300 HP four speed. This was the BEST Corvette body design before or after, bar NONE.. I'm an Avanti fan and owner (starting 2 years before this Vette model) But consider it the closest in beauty to the Avanti. Classic design. My fave Vette.
11:38 Oh there is one spot that needs repair love for sure on her. But that shouldn't be a big deal for anyone that can weld properly to fix! Such an excellent example of an original car!! I Love it!
I'm no professional restorer at all but to me the car needs a good proper cleaning and the drivers front seat needs repair. Replace the belts and hoses where needed and oil change. Other than that (Battery of course) it needs Nothing else. Awesome! I don't see why it needs new carpet. Mind you I'm not there and as I said I'm not a pro at all. Oh and recondition and correct the paint.
If you watch the whole video you would see I did what I thought it needed and called it good enough. I did a complete steam clean of the underside and engine bay, all new oil, oil filter, plugs, plug wires, rebuild carb, etc… did a light wet sand and buff on the exterior
FM radio in a 63?
Ehh. Kinda like driving a lowered truck
Is it terrifying to drive a black car and worry about rock chips and such?
I guess if you’re gonna worry about that kind of stuff… I don’t let that stuff bother me. I try not to get them but it is impossible to not get a little chip here and there if you drive the cars
Makes sense to me!@@corvetteswanted
@@tvtommy7268 and the color doesn’t matter they all chip… black is prolly the easiest one to fix or touch up and make it not as noticeable. If I was a guy worried about getting a chip or little scratch on it then the car would have to live in my garage or living room in a bubble. They are old cars meant to be drove and enjoyed… I restore them to better than new condition and new base/clear paint is more durable then old lacquer paint. But on a car I restore the underside is just as nice as the top side so it is definitely hard to drive them then and not worry about it but it can all be cleaned up at anytime. We powder coat the frame and all the components we can… and when I clean the floors off to bare natural fiberglass I actually clear coat them so they have some protection for years to come
I have a 65 big block black on red very rare!
Your a very lucky man too!!
