Chasing Union Pacific 4014 Big Boy over the Feather River Canyon 7/12/24
Переглядів 7653 місяці тому
A day that I could only describe as a pentrex film, this is certainly a chase in the memory books. On July 12th, 2024, I have made my way to the Feather River Canyon for the first time and set off to chase UP 4014, a 4-8-8-4 "Big Boy" that was restored after being in preservation for years. It was a great day starting off at Clio Trestle, Spring Garden, Rock Creek Trestle, Oroville and McClella...

Railfanning Edmond, OK - An Afternoon In Edmond 5/14/24
Переглядів 816 місяців тому
A short time in OKC with a little bit of BNSF action included. Although, I only went out one afternoon, action wasn't too bad! With a local and a few mainline trains, didn't go terribly for a 5 hour stay. Hope you enjoy! ©Placer Rail Videos
Eastern NS Harrisburg Line - Railfanning Pottstown-Linfield, PA feat NS 8025 (4/15-5/9/24)
Переглядів 2096 місяців тому
In mid April, I was sent to Eastern PA for 3 weeks and happened to be near the NS Harrisburg Line. This portion between Reading and Morrisville sees less than 10 trains per day as I was only able to grab 1 most of the time. There was a few instances of seeing 2 in one day. Sit back and enjoy a compilation with mostly 231, H49, NS 8025 and a bonus clip of NS4801s first run on 10K at Macungie. ©P...

Another visit to the Northeast but this time for work. I was assigned to multiple locations with over half the locations with tracks not very far from the hotel. We would visit the Finger Lakes Railway, NS Freight Line, CSX River Line, Amtrak/Metro North Hudson Line, and the NS Conemaugh Line. From February to early March, I would see 2 Norfolk Southern heritage units (NS 1069 and NS 8099), CSX...

Great Video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
Cool video and excellent channel! Well done!
Thank you! Much appreciated
Should have chased it. That lead unit has a K5HLB
@@SignalMan9292 This was 2 years ago when it still had a standard RL K5HL (you can hear it faintly after the power passes). +It tied down 5 minutes after this was taken and continued south at sunset
@@placerrailvideos824 Yea i realized that after commenting
Do you by any chance have a video showing TTX boxcar TBOX 666666?
🎉 .
Uh bruh 25 feet back please 🙏 thank you
The spur you see is out of service and hasnt been used in years. Was on a crossing with a OOS sign. +I was over 100 feet back from the mainline
@@placerrailvideos824 oooooh ok where does the spur lead to? Just wanted to know
@@Railfan-uf9mwWraps around Yuba County Airport then goes south. Goes down a couple of miles with the condition getting worse and worse with some tracks being ripped up going south along Feather River Blvd
Nice K5LA
That one BNSF C44-9W with an impressive K3L! One of my favorite horns!
This video is incredible. Genuinely blew me away how much better youve gotten since the last time I saw you. Props to you and your friend, watching this was a great experience.
I appreciate it man! Hope things are well for you. Been a good minute since we last met.
Heavy!!
Love it!!
great!!!
Awesome catch 😮!!!!
What are the first two locomotives on that train? Their vibration sounds take from the turbo howl sound I was trying to focus on.
Both are GE ES44ACs
OK. Why were they used on that train?@@placerrailvideos824
theres no way this video is almost 5 years old, it feels like it's only been 3
I've encountered the "EMD Howl" a couple times while railfanning, both times with UP ACes. I am always amazed at how far that sound carries. The wild thing is that the howl isn't even that loud, all things considered, but the sound just carries for miles and miles! First time I heard it, it was a leading SD70ACe, and even after the end of the train passed, I could still hear it (hand on heart) for at least 15 minutes. He was the better part of five or so miles away and I could still hear it. Just wild! Must be at just the right frequency and amplified by the exhaust stack just right because, like I said, that howl just carries like crazy. Great video!
I saw the first one you took of the UP 8490 West at Palm Springs, did you get video the second time you heard it?
I did. It's in my video from Redlands, Ca that I put out about a year ago.@@danielsebring6220
I didn't think california would allow coal trains in their state
Norfolk southern in California
Where is the crossing in the last video located? Don't see bell deactivation when gates rise often.
sorry for the late reply, Sacramento street in Auburn
I've never seen multiple DPUs in the middle of a train like that. Pretty neat to see for the first time.
Is this a feather river reroute? I haven't heard of this symbol before.
Its a donner train. All eastbound traffic takes donner while some westbounds take FRC The RVOG got replaced by this with setouts in Odgen
Thanks for letting me know. Don't wanna mix up symbols even through i suck at figuring them out.
@@trainman12337here are some symbols we have for EB over the Mountain, MRVGR(Green River), MRVNP(North Platte), MFRSP(Fresno,Sparks), MRVSP, IOANP(cofc Oakland/NorthPlatte), AMICH(Autos Milpitas/Chicago), ZLTG2(Lathrop/g2 Chicago). There are also 2 different grain trains to the bay and port of stockton,2 different coal trains and 2 different unit ethonal trains as well but those don't operate all the time and aren't consistent. The BN also has a trackage right train QBCPVJ(guaranteed intermodel bnsf crossing(Stockton diamond) to Provo Utah.) WB trains on UP will almost always go down the canyon to make kind of a 2 lane highway scenario. Train are all the same on those just opposite(ie. NPFR, NPRV, GRRV, NPOA etc.) The only normal trains going wb on the mountain are the MROMI(Roper Yard Utah/Malpitas) ZG2LT and on Saturdays ZG2OAB2, SPRV, and ESPRV which are power moves from Sparks to Roseville with all extra helper engines cut off in Sparks
And it sounds like ns 8114
Is sounds like a fouled k5hl
Nice Video
Nice Video
PNWR 3006 was going to Utah Railway because it was sold off! The first 3 trains that took PNWR 3006 were: H-VAWFRS, H-FRSBAR, and H-BARSTO
Sounds creepy 😮
Yea nice catches catching a agouti rack and this heritage unit on this long distance train 184 replacement
Saw 1982 on the hdontap camera. Caught me off guard
Do you think 1066 will go on H-STOPVO again?
It could. Apparently it hasn’t reached its destination yet for now
Giraffe
Sounds normal
It sounds a bit different from a standard K5HL. Ive heard AC44s/C44-9Ws with K5HLs that sound more cleaner than this particular unit. (this unit has a K3 as of today). Also this was a hybird K5HL apparently.
I don’t notice that it’s fouled at all?
Nice footage! I just subscribed!
Great catch!
Awesome catch of the BNSF 25th Anniversary and PNWR!
Great Catch!
Great catch of the intermodal!
BNSF 511: RS3L with overblown 44 bell BNSF 200: Prime 920 with a dead 44 bell
