I played in the Redcoats marching band for UGA. It was about this, just without the OU.

Can it be a solo or does it have to be a tune or is it what they give you for auditions 3:26

For many years I had season tickets on the front row in the north end zone. My seats were on field level, right on the “M” of Oklahoma. Loved those seats and always enjoyed the close interactions with the band. Enjoyed visiting with the musicians. Now it’s all been taken away by the university because some “genius” at the university decided to tear out the first 5 rows in the north end zone to make room for handicap SEATING. Now I watch all those able bodied people STANDING the ENTIRE GAME in the handicap section where my seats once were. The people next to me had their season tickets in their family nearly 60 years. 60 YEARS! Tearing out those seats made absolutely no sense at all. All it did was piss off HUNDREDS of season ticket holders that had those seats for decades. I’ve attended only 2 games since the university tore out my seats. Just look at all those “handicap” people STANDING up in this video.

Thanks for posting this. I was a mellophone in the Pride in 1996 and people who have never been a part of the greatest marching band in history. Running out of that tunnel was one of the biggest rushes I’ve ever experienced in my life. I came from a small town in Oklahoma where the school hates the band so our parents were the only ones who ever gave a crap about us. Then I came to OU and marching from Catlett to the stadium and seeing EVERYONE going nuts for us was a dream come true.

This is so fun to watch getting your pov and just a close and personal look of the actual field. I’m in love with Sooner football I dream of a day I will be able to watch a game in Norman. Decades of watching that atmosphere with my old man. He was an OU Alumni. We had our differences but on game day, nothing else mattered 😭🙏

Man it was my dream when I was little to be in the Pride of Oklahoma marching band. That never happened but I love getting to see what it would be like. Especially from a trumpeter because that's what I play, so thank you so much for this unique perspective.
