You've understated the V-280 Valor's top speed ... it's documented at 305 kts. This was achieved in test benchmarks whilst flying at a level altitude. The Production variant shall fly even faster - as it'll be fitted with more powerful R-R engines

There is nowhere in Britain capable of producing a Tank Cannon, all our Manufacturing capabilities have been scrapped.

It's more than likely that, just like the rest of our military hardware, the challenger 3 will be obsolete when it's eventually ready for service. And just one other thing. We should not forget that it's almost certainly going to be completely unreliable, like our naval fighting vessels and even if they're all fit for purpose ( highly unlikely), just like the rest of the UK armed forces, with such a pathetically small number,we need to pray they can be in 10 places at once!

As a armed forces veteran, I don’t think we should be freely advising on the public domain of the design and capabilities of our new tanks or any other mechanised weapons and vehicles, why you might ask, it’s simple, need to know basis, if the public knows about then so will any enemy. The elements of secret and surprise on the battlefield and in the theatre of war is the biggest weapon.

If they are going to equip these tanks with blow out panels then they must be made heavily armoured with enough protection against drone attacks, I would say use chobam armour on the whole top off the tank as it’s certain most future threats will be top attack munitions

There will be a power increase as the plant will be upgraded with a new fuel injection and cooling system, the new plant is likely to put out 1600 bhp. The hydrogas suspension is also upgraded improving mobility further.

Anyone know if these are 143 absolutely new tanks or if they're just upgrading 143 of the 227 chally 2's? Assuming the worst as it's the gov. they will just be upgraded ones and not 143 more. We need so many more than what we have.

Some ukrainian tank drivers say the older gifted challengers are the best in the world. This is a big upgrade on the 3. The uk is brilliant in creating military tech. Not so well thought of by consecutive british pms. Need more men and more equipment asap.

80 odd tons! That is ridiculous and it's a massive silhouette. Reduced ammo capacity to only 31 rounds is another point against it. Can't see many being too impressed with it.

Who wants to be helping to a country(Ukraine) which kept killing civilians(russian language speakers) since 2014 ? It would be the same if someone would start helping to a man who attacked another man....( Russia is helping to civilians in Donbas since those civilians were killed by thousands since 2014) What is the point here? They were still civilians in Avdiivka which said, they were waiting for 10 years and are now happy that oppression of Ukriane army will end.... Russia has pulled out of a long-standing fishing deal with the UK yesterday - and said Britons should "lose weight and get smarter". Will they? Just in 2023 alone U.K. got 560.000 tons from Russia which is over 40% of U.K. overall consumption... U.K. leaders are paid for spreading rusophobia, I would expect this from Russia sooner.

its not even a new tank, irs challenger 2, with a body kit. as no new chassis are being made. so if one is taken out, they will have to scrounge the scrap yards, or ukraine, for a spare challenger 2, to upgrade

it just an upgrade...... if we want more we cant have them (once challenger 2's runout) why not have built a new tank incorporating the lessons learnt but in a new tank which would have been even better plus we could produce more if needed !!

What a disappointment not the tank but the amount of tanks involved not even new tanks , this needs to be rethought all Chalanger twos need to be converted not just one hundred odd . Germany on top of its present tanks has just orders one hundred and seventy four brand new tanks , they even have the KF 51 in the wings . Even the present amount of Challengers is not enough it needs to be three times the amount that of the Challenger two also I would look at buying the CB90 120 or have the Ajax have a simaler model as the Amaricans have done with there M10 Booker which is based on the Ajax Hull and body . There are many jobs that need a heavy mobile gun but does not need a tank , in the British army this used to be done by the Abbot self propelled gun which also had a 105 gun , it was maneuverable enough quite than a tank and was at its time fast enough to keep up with MBTs and APCs AFVs on top of this the Cockerell turret with its 105 gun is an option especially cupped with the 119 amunition used buy many NATO country's including Amarica as they use the L119 Howitzers , useing the Cockerell gun and turret and the Ajax Hull would make it very light around thirty tons it also has the added advantage of the gun system being a self loading system reducing the crew to three . I understand with reduced crews the problem of maintaining equipment , we had the same problem with the Abbot we got around this but having two exstra men in the stalwart the amunition carrier for the Abbot they would dismount when delivering ammo to the gun stay untill the stalwart picked up the spent rounds and empty boxses we also had two exstra 432 APCs one for each troop with exstra men to preform gun position safty and quick responce but at night returned to there guns to do Maintenance this also worked if the gun though a trade one of the 432s would stop and as they say many hand make light work . This meathod could be applied to all vehicals with Auto loaders like the KF51 with I see is the next logical step in modern warfare this Veical MBT has many new technologies that can be used some not fully optimised. Take the position of the loader , his job could be changed to what the Airforce call GIB guy in back the weapons officer , he could be responsible for manning the radar operating the drones and the loitering amunition also maintaining the digital information net as well as the radio net takeing more of the workload off the tank comander if needed you could have two men in a mirror set up like the TC and Gunner on the left of the tank these are just my thoughts but I think this would work . As for Funding there are many ways to do this one is to stop all funding to overseas country's most of which goes into corrupt officials pockets and not the people who need it and some country's India do not need it they look on it now as a snub they say they are doing fine they don't need this hand out ,true enough a country with its owen space cappaserty does not need our help anymore . This could bring back billions of pounds to this country in a way you could say this money could also support there people life in this country
