The BPD Empathy Project Journal
Приєднався 24 кві 2020
(This is not the project, it is the journal tracking the evolution of the project and my thoughts and reflections along the way)
I was raised by a single mother with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). This channel is to journal my experience and reflections as I work on a collaborative documentary project to tell the stories of those affected by BPD. It's mostly just a record for myself, but feel free to join my journey and the journey of those I collaborate with along the way.
The project is for my PhD, and I will be using a range of approaches to find out more about what it feels like to have BPD or be affected by it in a way that can help generate greater public awareness, as well as to challenge the stigma around BPD by engendering greater empathy towards those affected by it.
If you want to find out more about the project, and maybe get involved yourself, feel free to contact me.

Entry #4: This time it's personal.
Another update journaling my own reflections as I work with my collaborators on the BPD Empathy Project. This one touches on BPD awareness week, the struggle of being the son of a woman with BPD, and a dramatic near miss with one of the project's collaborators.

Where I'm at on September 18, 2020. Includes reference to the book I put together with Courtney Sim (link below). A bit of reflection on the challenge of reaching people not reached by existing material on BPD, the way BPD is represented (or not represented) in popular culture, and thoughts on the way forward from here. Just a quick description of the project and an update of where we're at with the BPD collaborative documentary project today.
The beginning | Entry #1

Just a little introduction to this channel which will act as a journal for my reflections and process as I undertake a collaborative documentary project exploring the experience of people affected by Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
Interesting you said about your mother not knowing what was going on and the stigma antagonised by the health care professionals. If you would like assistance, please reach out.
Not sure what happened at the end - oops!
