would this job be applied to a 05 solara
v6 engine is the same repair instruction. Unknown on inline 4 cyclinder.
maybe no music and talk me through what you are doing at a normal pace? and why does that car look brand new.. dam i hate chicago rust
Love the car and took care of the car and babied the car. Idk just replaced everything cause I had money and wanted to go all out on it. Just appreciate the last of the last Solara SLE convertible with all the bells and whistle.
Im looking up the labor for this, and its showing me 10.8 Hours for both sides. is this accurate? I don't want to overcharge the customer
The book time is real. From Toyota. This is just a faster way but that comes with me cutting the bolt shorter to get to the arm faster. Multiple way to do things but book time is book time. You think Toyota flat rate will do this for 10.5 hours? So there no overcharging on that hours. If u want to charge less it on you.
@@theofficialjustinwong9465 sweet!! thank you for the timely reply. I was just making sure… labor times are different from different “book time standards” … Customer is expecting 10.5 so that’s what I’ll give ‘em
Thanks
Nice. In case anyone does this on the 07 Solara 3.3 motor, no need to remove the brakes or axle to get the ball joint off. You just need to crack the castle nut loose, push up on the ball joint and remove with your fingers. Comes right out.
Yes. That was ridiculous!
Where did you support the engine from to take off the mounts? A lot of videos lift from the oil pan but you supported it differently. Which points on driver and passenger side? Thanks.
3:01 the bell housing of the transmission between the engine block metal. Wasn’t comfortable lifting on the oil pan.
this was pretty cool. thanks for commenting on my channel as well! We test drove the Long range like yours but ended up buying the performance since i like to race on the track. have a good one.
Noice
Can you tell me the title of the song?
No sound...??
Thanks for this video. I was wondering if the Model Y could do adaptive cruise control while towing.
Why wouldn't you just unbolt the lower ball joint???
The new control arm came with a new ball joint!!! Figured it be less step just taking the ball joint to knuckle nut off be easier!!!
Do you think a bad alternator even though it is putting out 14v could drain a battery when it's off? Some idiot hooked up the battery incorrectly for a second and there was a spark from the battery terminals/cables. Car starts fine but I am noticing the battery isn't holding a charge even though when I measure the current at the alternator it's 14v. I'm thinking possbly the diode in the alternator is preventing current from coming back from the battery. And for how cheap alternators are it just seems like that should be replaced, especially since it's 12years old before the person had the battery wrong. No other problems, CEL or errors on the toyota solara.
You should check the battery voltage again without starting the car. Higher than 12volt is good battery but also load check the battery. Battery can have a good 12.6volt but when load testing you can see if it will perform well and I would also Look inside the battery cells too to see if the plates are mess up or need a distill water to top it off. Usually 14v charging is means the battery is low on voltage. Alternator is working properly. If a diode fails there will be no charging at all. Also some car can start as low as 8volt with engines that are inline 3, 4, v6 they don’t need that much power to crank it over.
@@theofficialjustinwong9465 Appreciate the help! It was actually two parts. I bought a new battery from Costco just a couple weeks ago. But when I took the battery off the car and would charge it. Would go to over 12+ volts then in a matter of about 10 minutes the battery would drop down to 10.3v. Had the battery tested and it looked like there was a dead cell in it? So took it back to Costco and got a new battery. Then tested the alternator. Was charging the battery at 14v no problem but looks to be bad rectifier or diodes so when the car was off it wouldn't prevent the battery from discharging.. Replaced both and now we good! Thank you for the video! It's nice and to the point. Wish more videos were like this!
Hello, I have a 2008Toyota solara SLE 2 door coupe, the lower front control arm bushing is starting to get bad, however the control arm is okay just the bushing.... I called my Toyota dealer and just a bushing is not sold separately, I have to buy the control arm to get the bushing.....can you tell me if there is aftermarket bushings available on the market...??...and what would the labour time be to replace the bushing only on this particular car , thank you have a great day.
For me just bring that lower control arm that you took out and bring it to an auto part store and they will match it for you. Oriellys and Napa auto parts does it. Labor time is 30 minutes longer cause you need to press or hammer out the bushing so about 2 hours both front side if you follow the video. www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/toyota,2008,solara,3.3l+v6,1441694,suspension,control+arm+bushing,7532
@@theofficialjustinwong9465 thank you very much for your reply and your advice 👍
Yes. The bushing can be bought by it's. Around $40 at NAPA
Nice. Love the end. The feels.
What is like to own a Tesla roadster. Ahhhhhhhhhhh! Lol
Nice job and fast.
Looks really involved, why did you need to replace this? I have clunking coming from that area, kinda random, and I don't feel it in the stearing. the large bushing looks beat. It started just after having front struts replaced.
The front lower control arm bolt are blocked by the engine mount. Therefor the engine mount has to come out as well. Making the repair longer. I replace the control arm because when I did the suspension shake down with a big pry bar the front control arm rear bushing was a bit lose and saw the crack. Did an alignment as well and the caster angle was on the red. So I did it for the video and for the ride comfort. Labor is 15 hour on both side Toyota book time.
@@theofficialjustinwong9465 Thanks for the quick reply, when you say the crack, was the arm cracked or the bushing? My bushing looks like crap.
The_Shenker's Family The lower control arm big circle shape bushing is cracked. Pause at 2:14 you see the crack on it. 0:13 / 13.5 seconds is the bushing I am referring to the lower piece of the control arm.
The_Shenker's Family it’s not easy to tell when they go bad when driving, you will notice steering wander on the highway which is the most noticeable symptom. This repair is not that difficult for a DIY’er but an impact really makes the job easier.
thanks very clear and tiny. 2006 might be the same?
2005 as well
BEST MECHANIC VIDEO OUT OF THE HUNDREDS I'VE SEEN. Good job man!

Thank you for this video!
Very detailed and no missing steps thanks you. Better than other stupid video skipping here and there.
Great video. Thanks. So many other stupid ones... you nailed it! Soundtrack rocks.
This worked on my sister's 2006 3.3L highlander 2WD. I was getting frustrated trying to find the tension pulley! Searching high and low!Researched for about an hour and happen to find this video. Thank you for posting. Saved her a couple bucks!
MerrickD07 where is it?
Battfish the “tension pulley” is the alternator it tension when adjusting the long bolt.
