8 Days Arctic ski expedition in Sarek National Park, Arctic Sweden
Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
Now this is a proper winter expedition! Eight days of skiing and camping in Sarek National Park. Sarek, a World Heritage Site in northern Sweden, is often called one of the world’s last true wildernesses. No mountain huts, no marked trails, volatile weather conditions. Just mountains, glaciers, and wildlife, it’s absolutely stunning. Tag along for a fun but arduous journey narrated by Rob McNam...
Potato waffle cooked on the fire with gravlax, horseradish creme & caviar
Переглядів 184Рік тому
Waffle irons for the fire are amazing. You can of course do waffles, but also grilled cheese sandwiches, or in this case, a hash brown! Some cool trivia is that waffle irons, constructed exactly like this, have been around since the Middle Ages. It can't get more Swedish than this flavour combo! A potato waffle topped with gravlox, horseradish creme fraiche, red roe and dill, with a little side...

*Wild mushroom risotto with pickled radishes* Risotto on a cooker in the cold? Fo’ sure! It’s hard to imagine a more soul-warming dish in a chilly environment. Cheesy, creamy, full of mushroom flavour. *Quick pickled radishes* Equal parts sugar, vinegar & water Radishes, thinly sliced. Boil up pickling liquid. Pour over radishes. *Wild mushroom risotto* Onion, finely chopped Garlic cloves in oi...
Quick Winter Breakfast - outdoor cooking on a frozen lake in northern Sweden (MSR whisperlite) 4K

*Sleeping with the eggs* When it’s 20 below and everyone’s circling you like vultures for some warming breakfast, you gotta go a li’l simpler. This is an easier version of our sweet potato frittata with goat’s cheese that we do during our summer kayaking trips. Rob had to put on the hero cape and snuggle a frozen bottle of eggs throughout the nite for this one! *Sweet potato & eggs on toast* Sw...
Winter Chilli - outdoor cooking on a frozen lake in northern Sweden (MSR whisperlite & Trangia) 4K

*Smokey bean chili with pickled chiles and garlic bread….in 15 degrees below.* Camping in the snow and 15 below, that’s a clear cut case of freeze-dried or pe-made right? Hell no. Cooking proper food is always possible. Rob is quick pickling green chiles, roasting and rehydrating dried smoked chiles, confiting garlic, all mostly while being able to keep his warm gloves on! This chilly outing is...
WILD MEALS: Autumn Saffron buns on a Trangia
Переглядів 712 роки тому
It’s that in between season. A li’l past beautiful autumn days, a li’l too early for snow. A perfect time to make something yummie the reason for getting out! You can actually bake pretty much any yeast dough in a pan on the Trangia or on the fire. Just make it small and pretty flat, dry pan, low heat and keep flipping it over. This particular treat of the season is a “*Lussekatt*”. It’s a wond...

Underbar plats! Tack och lov att vi har allemansrätten oxå. ❤
Awesome! Who were the outfitters that snowmobiled you to the start point?
💕 Wow💚💚💚💚💗💚💚
It's probably an easier ski, but harsher weather (Canadian Arctic biome extends well below geographic Arctic), try akshayuk pass.
Nice. Looks like Fun Category 3. Had the opportunity to cross Sarek in winter some years ago. Great experience.
KERON 4GT... ROCKS !!!!
Yeah, love the Keron! we had an older keron 3GT from late 80s /early 90s. It worked fine but ripped a bit in the strong winds on the final night.
Nice video, friend. I use the same stove for a lot of cold weather trips, and I much prefer it over the xkg. Yourself?
Agree, a lot easier to deal with and so much quieter. We our own version of a trangia stove with the whisperlite as burner, a homemade windprotection and a 4,5 liter pot from MSR. Turned out great. you can check out the video here -> ua-cam.com/users/shortsg3uyTMNb85s?feature=share
Where is the blåbärssoppa? Haha Very nice video, cool cinematics! I might join the dog bollocks expedition part 2 😁
Dieter! you definitely should. We are heading to a new area we've never been to for this one. It's an old virgin forest that is pretty much impossible to reach in the summers. four nights winter camping
Dude I’ve seen a lot of videos on these type of treks and that was the deepest snow I’ve seen anyone trail break. That’s tough. I’m glad I clicked on, usually I can’t understand what’s being said in other videos, your English is better than mine. Badass trip.
Ah thanks! Yeah it was a tough day for sure
Hello from Michigan
Hello from Sweden 🇸🇪
Thanks for the video, nice cooking - got one question, little bit off topic, but what tent are you using? Cheers from north Iceland.
Thanks so much Broddi! We are using the Hilleberg Altai as our social tent on winter expeditions. Its build for winter trips, as you can use your skis and poles as support poles for the tent. It’s amazing in the snow as you can dig out the floor to create a table and benches. Check out our insta for images of it in use properly. Enjoy northern Iceland 🙌🏻
Lovely to see guys! & excellent hosting by Rob 👌🏼
Thank you man! 🙏🏽
