Glass cutting - SUCCESS!!!
Переглядів 252 місяці тому
using the tap method to finish my glass cut. it proved successful, with the exception of the one crack that wanted to run away. take your time... fyi - that crack that strayed off of the score line, ended up failing when i went to shove the rubber stopper into that cylinder.

MN , your solution looks a little light , if you add a little sulphuric acid to the cell periodically it helps maintain the copper in solution and increases the efficiency of the cell. Start a little light 10-15 ml/ L . Add a little more copper sulphate to your solution . I used the cathodes in my waste bucket .

you're right. it is a little light colored. i've added sulfuric to it repeatedly, and electrolysis is not supposed to break down the sulfuric acid. my thoughts are that it is simply removing the copper from the solution, and starving the solution of it's copper. as i let it sit for a week, it actually became nice and blue, until i turned it back on, and then it sucked the copper back out again. i was trying to explain this through the video, but was pretty excited about finding out that i could suck the copper back up off of the bottom without having to re-smelt the bars. as you can tell, i'm not a master-smelter. :)

This is very cool, Ive heard that having fresh air blowing from the bottom underneath the arc is beneficial. Also nurdrage recently uploaded a video about ntiric acid production from ammonium nitrate and oxalic acid which is quite available in a lot of places. Great upload By the way, whats the rating on the oven transformer by the looks of it?

That would work, or you could just do a titration.....

Just saw this on the refining forum. Interested to see what comes from this. Getting into recovery and refining and have a huge stash to recover. Being able to reproduce this would be extremely helpful.

waiting on the glass cutter to show up and cut off those pour spouts. fyi - follow-up video of the nitric-dioxide accumulation 10 minutes after this video. :)
