3 Predictions for Pickleball in 2024
I've had 4 Diadems. 2 ICONS (1&2) and the A52 and the VICE. Lots of closed down mall stores here in San Diego. Come out and see.
Love it! Which Diadem paddle is your favorite?
@@JustPaddles Have not hit the EDGE versions which are a different thing all together, but the ICONs feel on impact is what I've moved away from. The softer plush feel on impact is what I'm looking for now. The latest ICON sounds like it may hit more like the GB HYPER for that feel. May take a risk on the ICON for the price.
Rafael: I wish Gearbox would create and sell a 14 mm 8" widebody Gearbox Pro Power pickleball paddle with the SST core and carbon fiber structure and foam like the Elongated Gearbox Pro Power pickleball paddles
Have you seen the new Gearbox Pro Ultimate Hyper? It is the first 16mm, wide body addition to the PRO series: www.justpaddles.com/product/gearbox-pro-ultimate-hyper-carbon-fiber-pickleball-paddle/38519/
They need to have people who like and who use the Gearbox Pro series of pickleball paddles test the new Gearbox paddles Because a person who normally plays with a Gearbox Pro series of pickeball paddles knows what to look for and they know how they play and they know when it is broken in and can give a fair contrasting view of the paddle in question and contrast it with the other Gearbox Pro pickleball paddles. also a lot of people do not understand the characteristic of how Carbon fiber alone plays which you can tell by the reviewers comments. less swing power when swinging the paddle gives you more control with carbon fiber, because carbon fiber is soft and flexy and more swing or harder swing makes the carbon fiber stiffer which generates more power. Also a combination of foam being stiff and hard in between the ribs/ridges of the carbon fiber makes for a very stiff and hard paddle until the foam is loosen up which happens by you playing with it which then eventually allows a person to experience how carbon fiber plays. Properties of Carbon Fiber Strength-to-Weight Ratio: One of the most notable characteristics of carbon fiber is its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. This means that carbon fiber rackets can withstand significant stress while remaining lightweight, allowing for quicker swings and improved maneuverability on the court. Durability: Carbon fiber is resistant to wear and tear, making it less likely to break or suffer damage during intense play. This durability ensures that players can rely on their rackets for longer periods without needing frequent replacements. Stiffness and Responsiveness: The stiffness of carbon fiber contributes to its responsiveness during play. When a player strikes the ball, energy transfer is efficient, resulting in powerful shots and enhanced control. Vibration Dampening: High-quality carbon fiber rackets often incorporate technology to dampen vibrations upon impact. This feature helps reduce arm fatigue and provides a more comfortable playing experience.
I also wish Gearbox would make a 14 mm 8" widebody pickleball paddle with the same internal carbon fiber patterns and foam of the original Elongated Gearbox pro power.

How would you compare your product to Joola Mod TA 15 & Ronbus Ripple? I’ve ordered Om Aero demo and can’t wait to give it a try. And when will the elongated model be available? And the specs for that? Swing weight, twist weight, handle length, price etc. Thank you!
@gene3344 through the specs the JOOLA MOD TA 15mm and will feel similar, but in terms of performance we haven't seen players want to sway away from the JOOLA MOD. We are waiting for launch details of the OM AERO Elongated! Sign up for our alerts and we will be sure to send updates on the emails www.justpaddles.com/customer-service/ Stay tuned for exact specs and testing results!
Is this supposed to be more powerful than the warrior v2?
@chandlereyre8792 Yes, this is Diadem's most powerful paddle yet!
Coming from a badminton racquet background, would the Diadem 18K Edge Power paddle be a viable choice for a beginner pickleball player to grow with, given that I don’t plan to purchase multiple paddles?
Bahahah this is the best!
Rafael: I wish Gearbox would create and sell a widebody Gearbox Pro Power pickleball paddle with the SST core and carbon fiber structure and foam like the Elongated Gearbox Pro Power pickleball paddles
Wow. Just got this paddle. It is top tier!😊
I’ve been using this paddle for around 3 weeks and it’s been a ton of fun. The power is the main thing - since it’s heavy and elongated, you get a head-heavy feel when your paddle is pointed downwards and can leverage the weight to really drive the ball with lots of topspin. Resets are also much easier because the paddle has a ton of pop, so the ball just bounces right off it back over the net. Spin is top tier. It’s an advanced, difficult paddle to learn to use for beginners because if you’re not gentle the ball will go out. But once you get the hang of it over 1-2 weeks it’s a lot of fun and my top choice right now.
Love my Pro Pwr E. Hoping the Ultimate 16 comes out in a standard shape soon. Rafa is for sure a genius not "mad" at all. I've owned 5 different GB's. Looking forward to what's coming next.

The Gearbox Pro Power pickleball paddle is the best pickleball paddle created.
I still have never seen anyone play with the OM pickleball racquet either online, live, or in tournaments which is a drag. I am curious how well it plays but not enought to buy it as I have 2 gearbox elongated Pro Power pickleball paddles.
I have watched countless amount of your matches in which you played with the 002 exclusively. Why do you want to explore other paddles now after you have achieved the no 1 ranking with it(congrats by the way)? Why not switch to the power air counterpart, which I have had love and hate feelings during the past 2 years?
I'm wondering the same thing. My only guess is that this is marketing, and selkirk is making him do this to hopefully sale more. Could be wrong though
@MichaelEverheartt he's sponsored with picklr though
She is back to Halo
There are a lot of pros that play with the Selkirk SLK Halo paddles. You can find our entire selection here: www.justpaddles.com/products/series~slk%20halo/
which one? power on control? or does she use the pro?
I returned my gen 3 paddle over 2 months ago. I still have not received my refund. Customer service won’t even respond to my email or phone calls. Don’t know if you are aware of this Anna are if you will even see this, but be aware of what you are promoting and who you are promoting for. Joola doesn’t seem to have very much integrity. I returned my Gen 3 paddle over 3 months ago and have still not gotten one. Customer service won’t respond to my emails or phone calls. Not very good customer service.

Drury University in Springfield Missouri has scholarships for pickleball and a team. Missouri loves it's pickleball.
JustPaddles is based in Kansas City, MO so we would agree that Missouri loves pickleball!
So far I do not know of any pro players using gearbox paddles. ??
The Gearbox Pro series is engineered in collaboration with elite pro pickleball players. Gearbox pros include Joey Farias, Tatiana Ruhl, and more!
More spin
Rafael: I really want to thank you for creating the original Elongated Gearbox Pro Power pickleball paddle. I love this paddle so much that I bought two of them and then I added different amounts of weights to each one for a different feel and I might buy another one and not add any weights to it so I have 3 different variations of This paddle to play with. Keep up the good work.
GB plays like a tennis racquet. Pockets the ball like the banned gen 3s. Bad for the game IMO. Gen 2 tech is plenty. Too much more and player skill isn’t as important
Where’s the full interview
Spin is only like 5% of the game. Low Level Players thought Spin is the king but it isn't lol
Play proceeds in this pattern: A player moves to the other side of their half of the court if they win the point on their serve while the other player stays put. If no point is no won, players stay on the sides of the court they're on for the other player's serve.
I noticed that after you served in the ad court & you lost, then you moved back to the other court. You only move when the server scores only.
I'm raging, I just bought the Power Pro...
Does the grit paint last for one month or two?
This paddle doesn't have a paint grit..
They would of had more buyers if they would make a standard size or wide body size. They missed an opportunity.... Hopefully in the near future 🤞🤞
No, we did not miss the opportunity. We simply launched our most popular paddle shape first.
@rafaelfilippini3863 awesome! I'm looking forward to a standard or wide body version Rafa. FYI I know Alavaro Beltran. I was his trainer. I did his speed and conditioning here in Chula Vista & LA fitness.
Am I the only person who finds that the Pro Power Elongated has a good enough sweet spot, good at resets, good for dinking.....ok, took a while for hand battles at the kitchen.....Power is amazing. For me, the hope I had for this paddle was more spin. Spin is ok on the Pro power, but much less than others. I had hoped for the best of all world's.....😂 Haven't ruled this out....but will wait to see what others say when they have played with it for a bit....
No, there are many player who can master the Pro Power Elongated, the issue is understanding how to utilize the technology. The PPE requires slight modification of your stroke. The new Ultimate reduces the learning curve and is very easy to use. The spin on the Ultimate has also increased.
Returns of powerful serves and short hop dinks, as well as off-center hits completely dying are my only complaints with my PPE. Everything else has been awesome. As Rafael says, getting the most out of these paddles requires an understanding of how to utilize the tech and I can probably modify my game to rectify these issues over time, but hopefully my Pro Power Ultimate which arrives in the mail soon helps to shorten that time to competency. We'll see
If rules state no foam or eva foam compressible materials be used in the core. And pretty much the whole core is all foam barely any carbon. How is this passing
The structure is entirely constructed from carbon fiber and epoxy resin, encompassing the core, perimeter frame, face plies, and handle. The carbon fiber's strength is evident in our ribs and other frame structures, which measure only 0.018" to 0.045" in width; hence, they can easily blend into the foam when the paddle is cut. The foam serves as a non-structural role, primarily used for shaping the core tubes, while other expanding foams assist in internal pressurization of the structure. Additionally, the foam effectively manages vibration and sound frequencies, enhancing damping for improved feel and sound quality. It is important to note that the foam does not contribute to the paddle's structural integrity nor does it enhance energy transfer to the ball. The superior energy return is solely attributed to the carbon fiber composition that forms the entirety of our paddle.
@@rafaelfilippini3863 It may seem like you're wasting time so eloquently answering haters posting baseless accusations, but for actual customers like me, who just bought my third Gearbox paddle, this is a reassuring and actually very interesting response (and probably explains why Gearbox paddles have no problem passing any regulatory testing). Thanks for taking the time to be involved in the comments and defending your product with sound logic and a full engineering breakdown. Can't wait to try my Pro Ultimate, which is set to be delivered later today!
I just got this paddle yesterday release day and used it for hours last night. Best paddle I’ve ever used.
I love my PCE, I can return PPE serves with that one and I love the control and spin on jt also. But I have often thought about wielding that PPE at some point and curious to see how I hit with this when my demo comes in the mail! Excited to try it!
Not creating this paddle in a standard shape with a 5.5 inch handle is nothing short of a crime and you should be put behind bars.
Wait! don't be so quick to arrest me just yet. We simply release our most popular shape first!
@@rafaelfilippini3863 and you think the integra shape is popular? look man I really loike your company and I have bought a lot of paddles from you in the past but that integra should have been a 16x8 with a 5.5 handle. Or at least a true hybrid shape. Come on!
@@tanpen15 I really like the Integra. So fast in the hands which is really important. Love to see the Integra length with a wider body also. Thanks for listening Mr. Filippini :). If you read this I was thinking of getting the Ultimate and cutting the tip off. Weird idea, I know but would this ruin the paddle?
@@rafaelfilippini3863 Would love a Standard shape.
The original elongated GearBox Pro Power Paddle is the ultimate and a person has the option to add lead weights to The original elongated GearBox Pro Power Paddle to change the characteristics of the GearBox Pro Power Paddle for more stability and control if that is what they want. if a person wants the control of the ultimate then buy the Gearbox Pro Control Elongated. The ultimate should not have been compared to the GearBox Pro Power Paddle but rather the ultimate should have been compared to the Gearbox Pro Control Elongated pickleball paddle. I would like to see the original elongated GearBox Pro Power Paddle in a wide body format with a handle long enough for 2 handed backhands.
Not entirely true. They are very distinct paddles. Weight alone does not significantly alter the performance of the paddle. The core in the new Ultimate is completely redesigned to provide stability, control, and more spin, yet we retain a lot of the power. It's a balance of all in one paddle. The twist weight was kept low intentionally to keep the paddle agile yet stable also providing you with the ability to customize the paddle slightly if needed.
@@rafaelfilippini3863 I humbly and respectively submit that a person can add lead weights to control twist weight, add stability, and give you better control which I have done with the two original elongated Pro Power Paddles that I have. which can also give you a wider sweep spot by adding lead weights. and the only real thing that might make the new paddle distinct really is the thickness of the paddle which requires more foam which gives it a more controlled feel. The paddle you call the Ultimate paddle should have been a replacement to the Pro Control Paddle and compared to the Elongated Pro Control and not the Elongated Pro Power in my humble opinion. I would also like to see Gearbox make a 8" or more wide-body SST Core carbon fiber Pro Power Paddle with the handle length now of the elongated pro power for two handed backhands using the same ideas material, and concepts that went into the Gearbox Elongated Pro Power Paddle.
Gear box just made the pro control 14 mm obsolete??

I would love this comparison as I really enjoy the PCE. The sweet spot on the PPE was too small for me. Looking forward to the demo coming to my doorstep in a couple of days.
@@ellexusse The smaller the sweet spot the better player you need to be to wield it and you can add lead weight to increase the sweep spot and decrease the twist rate giving you better control if need be.
I swear I’ve seen her switch to a labs 003? Why do you use this paddle instead of the halo xl now?
Pretty bad in terms of competing with other websites considering every site is giving the same 30 day trial period without having to pay $20

I love mine for dinking and hand battles but have trouble on Overheads it just seems to lack oomph but overall it's a solid 8 out of 10 for me .
Rising Pickleball Star Alix Truong Aims for Greatness, One Point at a Time Professional Phenom Follows Passion from Tennis Courts to Pickleball Primacy In the rapidly growing world of professional pickleball, few athletes embody the sport's youthful dynamism and boundless potential quite like Alix Truong. At 19 years old, the Utah resident has already established herself as a formidable force on the court, her powerful groundstrokes and deft touch around the net leaving opponents in awe. Yet, it is Truong's palpable enthusiasm and relentless pursuit of excellence that truly set her apart, captivating fans and foreshadowing a career destined for pickleball greatness. 1:35, Are you a morning trainer or a post-lunch trainer? Truong's dedication to her craft begins before most people have had their first cup of coffee. A self-proclaimed night owl, she has embraced the discipline of an early riser, often hitting the gym by 8:30 a.m. for a comprehensive training regimen overseen by her personal team of experts. "I don't like to sit still," she confesses with a laugh. "I always joke about it to people, but I just have to be doing something." That "something" typically involves a morning workout followed by two to five hours of on-court drilling and recreational play, bookended by recovery sessions and strategic planning. 4:00, How did you get into pickleball? Truong's pickleball journey began somewhat serendipitously during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a high school tennis player, she found herself locked out of the public courts near her home when they were closed due to safety restrictions. A friend's private court, adorned with pickleball lines, piqued her curiosity, and before long, Truong was hooked. "I signed up for my first tournament with my dad the next month," she recalls, "and just fell in love with it like everybody else." Her rapid ascent in the sport was fueled by an unyielding commitment to improvement and an insatiable competitive drive. 5:58, How hard was it to walk away from tennis to focus on pickleball? While the decision to leave her high school tennis team behind might have been agonizing for some, Truong viewed it as a natural progression. "I didn't really like the social aspects of school," she explains. "I was always very independent, and my learning styles are very different." The pandemic's disruption of traditional schooling allowed her to thrive academically on her own terms, while the arrival of pickleball provided an irresistible athletic outlet. "It was pretty easy to walk away and, falling in love with pickleball, I was like, 'You can do this every day, 24 hours.'" 10:10, Personal growth through professional pickleball Truong's pickleball pursuits have catalyzed her personal growth in ways that extend far beyond the court. "Playing tournaments and then as you get better in those tournaments, like maybe you played on Center Court, and then you have to do an interview," she explains, "I had to learn to speak well and talk to older people in the community who have that life experience." The sport has imbued her with a level of poise and professionalism that belies her teenage years, a fortifying experience that will serve her well as her career continues to blossom. 12:50, Pickleball sponsors & how they contribute to your success Success at the highest levels of any sport requires not just talent and hard work but also the support of invested partners. For Truong, that backing comes from industry leaders like Engage Pickleball and Chicken N Pickle. "I truly believe in Engage, I truly believe in Chicken N Pickle, what their missions are and the products that they put out there, their quality," she says. These sponsors provide invaluable resources and a collaborative environment that allows Truong to focus on her game while representing brands she genuinely admires. 15:29, Engage Pickleball & Chicken N Pickle Truong's glowing praise for her sponsors is well-earned. Engage Pickleball, an iconic brand with deep roots in the sport, produces some of the finest paddles on the market, while the innovative Chicken N Pickle facilities have captured the imaginations of pickleball enthusiasts nationwide with their unique blend of recreation and hospitality. "It's an amazing place to just go and hang out," Truong raves, recounting the mouthwatering cuisine and lively atmosphere she encountered on her first visit. 18:15, Major League Pickleball Perhaps no development has impacted the professional pickleball landscape quite like the advent of Major League Pickleball (MLP). Truong, a member of the Black Diamonds franchise, revels in the electric energy and raucous crowds that distinguish MLP events. "The crowds erupting, there's people with signs, and their chests are painted, and like noise makers - it's crazy, and I love how everybody gets so into it," she enthuses. The team format has injected an extra dose of camaraderie and friendly rivalry into the sport, further endearing it to players and spectators alike. 23:27 The Brock Purdy of Pickleball and Ms. Irrelevant Despite being dubbed "Ms. Irrelevant" by some pundits after being the last pick in the MLP draft, Truong embraces the underdog narrative with her characteristic mix of humility and determination. "I get tagged in a lot of tweets, like, 'Oh, the Utah Black Diamonds are statistically the most likely team to come in last,'" she says with a laugh. "I'm replying to these tweets, I'm like, 'We're not coming in 12th,' and then I get replies after that, '13th, question mark?'" Undeterred, Truong sees an opportunity to defy expectations through the intangible bonds of team chemistry. 24:55, Team chemistry in pickleball While pre-season projections are often based solely on individual player rankings, Truong understands that the x-factor of team cohesion can render such predictions moot. "You can look at paper and just look at all teams in any of the sports," she observes. "You put two of the best tennis players together, like a female tennis player and a male tennis player - that doesn't mean that they're going to be the best mixed doubles team. They might not have good chemistry." Her Black Diamonds may be outmatched on paper, but Truong is convinced that their rapport and esprit de corps will propel them to unexpected heights. 27:03, Are you a goal setter? What are your goals for the rest of the year? When it comes to goal-setting, Truong subscribes to a pragmatic, process-oriented approach informed by the insights of her coaching staff. "I've been working really hard on my mental game," she explains. Rather than fixating solely on results-based objectives like rankings or medal counts, Truong focuses on incremental, performance-based targets - hitting a certain percentage of drop shots in practice, for instance. "Setting those tiny tasks and knowing that I can complete those daily goals every single day," she says, "it's satisfying knowing that you actually can check something off your list immediately." In the end, Truong's aspirations are as lofty as they are nuanced: "Of course I want to be number one. Of course, I want to have as many medals as I can... But I'm just taking those little steps to get there." With her prodigious talents, unwavering dedication, and mature perspective, the pickleball world would be wise not to underestimate this rising star's ability to turn those little steps into a giant leap towards greatness.
UTAH is dead last lmao
He is now switching to a power air though
We actually just dropped Jack Sock's signature paddle. You can learn more and shop for it here: www.justpaddles.com/product/selkirk-jack-sock-luxx-control-air-invikta-carbon-fiber-pickleball-paddle/37712/
@@JustPaddles Ik I just ordered it but I. The tournaments he’s been playing with a power air in doubles
Well I was hoping this guy knew what he was talking about but the game is never going to go to all power. That's not pickleball. I believe the industry will shift more towards control paddles after this power craze to be honest with you. Accept for maybe singles , which is not nearly as popular
Interesting take. Pickleball "purist" will hate you...but that's ok! If we know anything it's that people HATE change, especially people over 50 years old.
:)
Racket = strings Paddle= core. Curious about the "fused" core to frame relationship. I'd like a "hybrid" shape if they could make one. Looking forward to OM's future.
Thanks for your comment. We’re working on an elongated one currently, but perhaps a hybrid could be in the works too.
It'll never go this direction. Nobody truly wants pickleball to be tennis. People are complaining about paddles being too hot already, this? No way. Pickleballs appeal is the slower speed and high skill ceiling with precise soft shots.
