2023 Toronto Chinatown Festival
On August 19 & 20, 2023, the Toronto Chinatown Business Improvement Area (CBIA) will host its 23rd Toronto Chinatown Festival (TCF) under the theme of “Flaming Phoenix: Rebirth & Uprising” (開心消費,振興經濟). One of the main missions of the CBIA is to create exciting community events to promote the area and draw locals and visitor to dine, shop and explore Toronto Chinatown. The TCF is CBIA’s signature event of the year, attracting estimated over 250,000 visitors during the two-day event.
2023 marks the rebirth of our economy in our beloved city. As people return to work and major events resume operating, it is expected that Downtown Toronto will once become the hot spot like it once was, before the pandemic. To collect the power of the community for the rebirth of our city, we propose the theme of this year’s TCF: “Flaming Phoenix: Rebirth & Uprising”. In Chinese mythology, the Phoenix (Fenghuang / 鳳凰) is an immortal bird whose rare appearance is said to be an omen foretelling harmony at the ascent to the throne of a new emperor.

Love this. Wonderful people, wonderful community.
Use to hang out at the store as a teenager. Eugene is an amazing person and its true what he says, if he doesn't remember you by name he will remember your face. Play De Record ❤
incredible
thank you for the video, this is very heartwarming~~~
Living Legend Toronto Treasure Sir Eugene! All the best and more power to you!
Ni is my barber for many years now. Best ever.
This place is rip off for tourist, they are cheating on the exchange if you do not have Canadian dollars.
So glad I found this page. Hey Eugene, Steve from Spinning Sound! Loved your store.
this is a good idea. showing the Spadina Chinatown Festival in a stream.
Eugene is a cool and genuine guy
Nice video. Would also be nice to have English subtitles.
Thank you for your advice, the English subtitles is posted on you tube ( ua-cam.com/video/LqBVpEd9Aw0/v-deo.html)
Its funny because House of Gourmet is way better the King noodles.
Legend
What a sweet man. Never knew he was Trini.
Love you Eugene, you da man! You've added and contributed so much richness and magic to so many people through your love of music, including my own life and career! Deep bows to you. It was a pleasure and honor to have worked for you and your family <3
Your restaurant is terrible
Just found this! I go here every 3 weeks without fail. This place is awesome! Ni is awesome - once after I complimented his aloe plants he insisted on sending me home with one (I still have it!). Highly recommend. Also the cuts are great.
People Hair Salon is amazing! Highly recommend to go there
The owner’s values are aligned with our traditional values to respect and care for our elders. I will definitely give this man my business and recommend him to my Toronto friends.
Community ahead of profits, what a noble business owner. This goes back to the traditional Chinese values of taking care of the elderly. I truly respect this man!
ρгό𝔪σŞm 😇
Been going to this place since I was 10. Love their buns and service!
Really love these videos, it's a nice way to learn about the community and history. I have new place to try out too!
These videos will blow up in no time! Wonderfully put together
i've walked by this store many times but never visited. i've typically gone to mashion a little bit down the street but this video made me want to visit! the buns looked great and the owner seems like a genuinely good person. will definitely come by here more often
This was such a cute video! Would love to see more of this!
I only got my haircut once or twice there while I lived in Kensington, and even I feel nostalgic while watching this - can't imagine how it must feel for people who grew up with them in their neighbourhood, or visiting since they were kids. Chinatown has a ton of culture and history that add to this city, so it's cool to see a channel documenting it so intimately and respectfully. Cheers
Great video. Really enjoying this series where we get to know the local business owners :)
Thank you! We look forward to posting more videos featuring our local businesses :)
Marys old place. Formerly superstar. I goto grace to see ron. Marys still around tho
awesome record shop!
This is a dope channel. good cheap eats especially the duck noodle bowl.
Dined in a couple of weeks ago. Saw a waitress drop a rag on the floor and used it to wipe the table with it. Also, the utensils weren't clean. Once the lockdown was lifted, they still have no customer service.
Great content!
One of my favourite places downtown for Chinese food!
One of our favs too!
Curry beef brisket is what I come here for
One of the best!
The best!
Great documentary very well shot and put together
Thank you! If you like this video, please check out more of Andrew's work here: instagram.com/tsotographer/
That first conversation about being on camera is the most quintessentially Cantonese husband-and-wife exchange ever.

Had to be there Thursday morning 🤟🏼🤟🏼 Big Up Eugene Always held it down for Toronto Djs. 💯💯
So many record stores have come and gone, this man is a Toronto legend. I remember in 95 I wanted to do my internship there but my school said no.
i remember stumbling into that store by accident , behind a convenience store 0n yonge . they were literally opening up for the first time .....and i bought a record called Psychotropic - Only For The Headstrong...this would be 91 or Damn ! maybe even 90 !!!!! still have that record today ....
Eugene is a legend. Bless his soul.
"Bai, you want a discount? Bettah call Kijiji!" Lol
Bless you! You made my Thursdays back in the 90s
Eugene!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The good old days boy.
The back room with all the house & techno is like a treasure trove
