How I Set Up My Hardware Vocal Chain for Professional Recordings | Reeven Music
Welcome to my channel! In this video, I’m sharing my complete vocal chain setup, from microphone to mastering. 🎤✨
🔹 Microphone: I use the Warm Audio WA-87 R2 microphone for its clarity and sensitivity. It captures voices naturally.
🔹 Preamp: The Warm Audio WA73-EQ preamp is crucial for boosting the signal without adding noise.
🔹 1st Compressor: With the Warm Audio WA-76 compressor helps me control the peaks in my vocals, ensuring that the loudest parts are kept in check.
🔹 2nd Compressor: With the ART PRO VLAII compressor balances the overall level of the vocals, maintaining a consistent and polished sound.
🔹 Audio Interface: The RME FireFace UC audio interface provides high-quality digital conversion and minimal latency.
🔹 DAW Presonus Studio One V6: I use Studio One to edit and mix all my recordings.
In this video, I’ll walk you through how I hardware set up and use each piece of gear to get the best sound possible. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced producer, there’s something here for everyone to learn!

Would this be the best option for ableton? I have been thinking of buying waves fit lv1 vs the FP16
Great video. Faderport 16 arrived today and i wish i had it years ago. Live is so much easier and more intuitive with Faderport. Love it. 😊
Great to hear! Enjoy and happy music making!
I use Ableton and Studio One, Am I able to switch back and forth as I use or does it Deprogram the standard Presonus connection
@@larrywhitfield6997 Hi Larry, you have to switch back and forth. You can only stay in one mode if you work with Reaper, Logic or/and FL Studio, they work from the same script. Kind Regards, Andor
Thanks this video is so easy to follow!
I am glad it helped!
Dude I love you!!!! Thanks!
I have a problem with Faderport V2 in Live 11.. I tried it as you show here with mackie control but it does not work for me. Any ideas?
No sorry, then I would advise you to read the manual or test it with Presonus Studio One to see if the device is not broken.
@@andorvanreevenmusic8123 thank you, considering my options now
Hello and thank you for the video. I use the Behringer X-Touch controller and I would like to change the device because not all buttons are assigned and important functions cannot be realized. How to do this with the fader port 16? Are all buttons supported by Ableton on this device? I'm currently using Ableton Live 11, or what did you notice about the device that interferes your work?
Hi, the Faderport retains basic functions such as start, play, rewind, mute, solo, using the faders and channel selections. But beyond that, it doesn't offer much more. The script it uses is the well-known old Mackie script that the industry has been using for 20 years on many devices, and it's quite basic.
Boy did I need that! Thank you,
Nice, thanks for sharing, you explained it perfectly.
You are the absolute best thank you!
So the mute buttons on the faderport don’t work in ableton just the volume sliders ? Thanks
No the mute buttons also work. It uses all the functions like every other midicontroller should do. In studio one I can use the faderport to control the plugins and that is not possible in ableton.
very nice workshop!
Thank you!
Thank you to!!!😊
Awesome! These same instructions are also relevant to the #faderport8 with the exception of excluding setup of the "XT" options. This is indeed incredible because I'm VERY comforted that I don't have to abandon my Faderport8 as I'm migrating away from Studio One to Ableton Live. Thanks!!!!
Yes I am glad to help. You can indeed use faderport 8 by only run one script instead of 2. Succes on Live 12!🙏🏻🔥
Thank you for this great hint!!!👍🏼Best Regards from Vienna👋🏼
Does it remember to go back to ableton live mode if you switch it off and on again?
Yes, it continues to remember when you turn off the power.
How do I use the link button so control automation in ableton with my faderport v2? It doesn’t do anything
Hi, well I have to inform you that the faderport only act as a big volume mixer. It doesn't act like the same feature's as it does in Ptesonus Studio One. The reason is "like i mentioned in the video" that it act on a Mackie script which is more than 20 years old. The only automations that works are the volume and pan automations if you push the recording button. I hope I informed you well enough. Kind regards, Andor
@@andorvanreevenmusic8123 hopefully they update software or I can map the buttons in ableton remote.
Can you still move over one track at a time? so it shows track 2-17, 3-18 and so on. or will you go in banks of 16?
Excellent 💯
Thanks man!!
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for your reaction 🙌🏻
Hi. Just a simple question: mapping with Ableton Live is ok but since there is no separate dedicated channel in the controller, how can i map the master channel?
Well sinds Faderport is designed with Studio One in mind it is not showing the masterfader. However there is a workaround, I use one of the Busses as a pre(masterfader) to control it as a channel.
@@andorvanreevenmusic8123 Thank you!
Thank you for making the effort to make this video... very useful...
Thank you very much

Massively helpful. Thank you!
Hi Match, Thanks!

Your English was great. Thanks for the information. Happy New Year.
Thank you mister Nutter, happy New Year to you as well 🥂
thank you
Hi, I have a Faderport 8 and have tried to use with Ableton Live 11. Unfortenately key functionality is missing, e.g. you can't arm several tracks, as you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/SWPQtJoebE4/v-deo.html. Do you experience similar problems? Presonus support doesn't have a working suggestion. Tried all firmwares, etc. None of them work with Ableton live 11. for some reason, thi user does manage to use features I simply can't reproduce: ua-cam.com/video/0Ej6Tn0wF-4/v-deo.html
Hi, editing your plugins function only works in Studio One V5. The way I show it here is based on an ancient old method from Macky. Unfortunately, Presonus didn't solve this issue. It is only to use as a fader controller. Faderort 8 on the other hand, I don't have that device, but probably it should work the same way.
thanks for this - can you move along to 17-32 and they will work in Ableton?
is this a go?
As you can see there is also a 3rd option in the midi list of Ableton, the Presonus FP 16 (port 3) wich turns your faderport into a Midikeyboard. I did not go that far to test it but I think it is worth trying...

Yes, that would be great. I can do my next video on that one.
Thanks Andor, that was exactly what I needed to know!! Now I only need to decide which plugins/fx I want to blend (use parallel) with my signal or which fx are going a 100% through the fx (serial).
Super Andor!
