Got an invite to go mine some Silvers with my brother. The fishing had been hot since the season opened and it did not disappoint for us either.

2024 Opening Day Kings
Переглядів 319Місяць тому
I finally got a chance to edit this years King Salmon Opener on July 18th & 19th. The first day was filled with lots of action but we didn't catch any keepers. The second day the action was fast and furious with a hot fish bite, lots of boat traffic, and some decent sized swells, so I didn't get a chance to film any fishing before we had our limits. That's just how it goes sometimes.
Lingcod 2024
Переглядів 4544 місяці тому
The weather finally cooperated and my brother and I were able go out for our annual "Opening Day'' lingcod and halibut outing. Even though the previous weeks storms had passed, we still had to deal with some rough seas which made for a spine jarring ride out and some tough fishing conditions. After getting our limit of lingcod we decided to call it a day and not make the 10 plus mile run over t...

It was a Dry and Stormy Day
Переглядів 458 місяців тому
I went on a photography class assignment with my grandson up to the Skagit Valley of Washington. We spent the afternoon getting blasted by the high winds (one gust was recorded at 51 mph by the National Weather Service) that were generated by the storm that was centered just off the Washington and Oregon coast.
End of Summer Crab Season Day 3

Day 3 of our crab outing brought a full crew, better weather, and limits of crab. I added a photo montage from all three days at the end. Eagle: Music by www.free-stock-music.com
End of Summer Crab Season Day 2
Переглядів 3 тис.Рік тому
Day 2 of our end of summer crab outing was very subdued. Because of the weather change most of the crew decided to stay home so only 5 of us went out to check the crab pots. As you will see, we got bounced around quite a bit by the wind and waves so this trip was all business.
End of Summer Crab Season Day 1
Переглядів 1,1 тис.Рік тому
I was invited to hit the last few days of the summer crab season in the San Juan Islands. This first day was spent setting pots, having a relaxing lunch on Matia Island, and doing some flounder fishing. We got a late start on pulling the pots we had set out in the morning so I was only able to get video of the first one. Days 2 and 3 will have more of that coverage.
Hiking the San Juan Islands: Matia Island Hike

We stopped at the State Park on Matia for lunch while our crap pots were soaking. Having never been on this island I decided to hike the loop trail that is there.
A Pair of Kings wins the Day!

Caught a quick limit on the 2023 King Salmon opener, and almost had a run in with someone who apparently got a late start on their day. Musta slept through his alarm!
Here Be Dragons

I had a chance to get out with my brother to fish for Ling Cod (aka Sea Dragons) before the season closed. We each got a fish big enough to fill the freezer for the winter but blanked on the halibut on this trip.

Return to Lake Ki 2023

I had a day off so we headed off to Lake Ki after a 2 - 3 year hiatus. Even though we didn't catch a tagged fish, the stocker trout did not disappoint.
A short Storm Lake Clip

I found some short clips that I ended up not using because we experienced some fish induced "technical difficulties". After looking at them I decided to put together this short video.

Glad you found this video helpful. Just make sure to check the WDFW website to make sure that the beach you choose to go to is open that day. Happy clamming!

@Joedysart: Awesome catch! That's a total monster bass for NW waters!!. I've ever caught the big ones that I know are in there, but I did have one in the 3-4 pound range that kept trying to eat the stocker trout that I had on the stringer that was hanging over the side of my boat.

Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the clarifying the pronunciation. It is a beautiful place and being there during the off season made it feel like I was alone on a deserted island.

There were a couple of guys that were fishing the downed timber just to the right of the boat launch but I never saw them hook up with anything. It always amazes me at how big the bass is these small lakes can get.

Hmm, good question. That's usually the first thing we do (and marking our catch cards) after getting lines set back in the water. This morning the bite was happening so fast that we probably just overlooked it. 🤔🤷‍♂

What area do you guys go to when clamming in Long Beach? So far I have only been to the beach entrance on 12th st.

    • @dagrandpaoutdoors1463
      @dagrandpaoutdoors1463 Рік тому

I once asked a friends mom, who lives on the Long Beach Peninsula, where the best clamming over there was, and she said that on the beach just south of the wildlife/bird preserve up at the north end of the peninsula. I can't verify that cuz I've never done any clamming anywhere along Long Beach. When I do go to a new beach I usually start where the crowds are and then work out from there, making sure to take note of landmarks when I do find a "honey hole" that is loaded with clams. Also, make sure you always take note of where the beach accesses are in case you need to make a fast getaway because of weather or tidal conditions.

It's probably the same guy (Dave is his name) we bought ours from. He parks right there by the river and sells them out of the back of his truck. He even offered to make Joey a shorter gun (she's barely 5 ' tall) at no extra charge. They don't go into the sand as easy as the round ones, but because of their oblong shape, we don't break as many clams as we used to. Thanks for watching!

It is gorgeous for being on the dry side of the state. The video I posted (Fishing with Daniel and Jesse) was recorded a couple of hundred yards from where the river empties into Wallow Lake. I will be posting a the video I took from the top of Mount Howard (8,000+ foot elevation) soon.
