@knappz0r there was one time (before I knew the issue with the cutting tool) I was cutting the points near the fuel tanks the lazer clipped into the tank and.. BOOM.. almost scared the piss outta me 🤣

Yes, but I want to just erase the mind, not put another mind in there that is already in a core. If I use another core with a mind to overwrite the enemy mind, I will end up with just 1 core with the since the origin core is destroyed in the process, so then I loose a core.

@@knappz0r When you get to research "Improved Bot Parts" you can somewhat do that, as you can then produce as many cores as you need, and recycle those with minds in them. Another option is with the technology "Black Market" researched, as it opens up for buying cores, and empty human brains(!) from the factions usually pirating against you, and selling the brains of their defeated members back to them!

Yes, that would spread the mess less :) Not that the humans seem to mind though, also the rate of these incidents have been reduced in a patch :D

If what you remember is version less than 0.50, roughly before 1.5 years ago, then there has been some changes yes! Basically, DF developers Tarn and Zach Adams wanted another model to work under, so to say, and together with publishers Kitfox Gaming they started working on the Premium edition of DF (to be sold on Steam and itch.io). Big overhaul for UI and new graphics and tracks. The free version still exist, with the same design changes but without the sound and graphics in the Premium version. With these overhauls some features have been disabled, but step by step they are coming back and then its on towards more!

@@knappz0r The one I remember was probably 6 or 7 years ago and only had ASCII graphics. It was nearly unplayable without downloading accompanying programs specifically dwarf therapist and stone sense.

Yeah, the fire can be pretty mild and is not too hard avoid. However, without fire protection and with some bad luck I think I've had some problems at least once.

I have a quantum stockpile for limestone, the most common rock, and for logs. There is A LOT of stone though, and many things to do.

Yeah, there are towers not too far away. I've had tower raids to a site just next to this one, but not here (yet). It's just a mystery from where it came, probably through the caverns or... someone is very secretive... and clumsy to loose their slab.

@@knappz0r Well, if you did a raid to a tower, then it's *conceivable* someone brought it back (in a spoils report) or possibly took it in secret (if that's possible). It's super-easy to miss details, in any case.

No raids from this fortress so far! We are too busy digging.

Feels like there will be 200 episodes before the fortress is done... maybe more. Probably more. So much more digging to do 😅 The UI has its quirks, play around a bit with it and it will probably feel better. And don't feel you need to hold back questions if you have any.

Ok I have one question for you, between all the simulation games wich one is your favorite? For me if it's a city simulator game it will be cities skylines without any doubt @@knappz0r

Different simulation games can simulate very different things, but I do like when there is some production flow involved, like ANNO games (I like 2070 lots) and Transport Fever 2. Automation is nice too, I find Dyson Sphere Program very nice. Then we have simulations like Oxygen Not Included, very good but very different from dor example Cities Skylines. I grew up with Caesar 3, but hard to find something that lives up the nostalgia but there are some stuff coming soon maybe. And Dwarf Fortress is of course good, but it does not shine over other games in uts simulation of production, but beats everyone with its procedural and simulates world building.

I find my self liking games such as crausader kings and the sims , rim world more than production-focused games , because I like the stories and details that those games gave , I get a satisfied feeling when seeing that the choices I make effect the characters and the world of the game , and that some time the game doesn't need me to creat a story but makes the stories by it self ( espesiely rimworld and dwarf fortress), also they don't give the feel of loneliness like when you play singleplayer in other games , it's my first time hearing about ceaser 3 but it looks like it predate my birth😅 , I mostly grew with playsation 2 games and old facebook games @@knappz0r

Hello there!

A lot has happened, with the Premium version released on Steam and itch.io it's a bit more approachable. Some nice things from before are missing though. But I'm pretty sure these textures are not available in newb pack for the free version, since it's one of the special things with the Premium version.

When and who?

While I have generally given up a little on marksdwarfs, I am thinking of having some in this fortress. Could get them some war dogs as well. Does not sound like a too bad strategy to handle were-creatures, it's not given that you will be able to decide how to handle were-creatures however :D And so far I don't think I've seen any in this world :O

@@knappz0r How high is your fortress limit, and when do you have were-creatures set to attack? It could have something to do with that. And yes, it's pretty obvious that the dogs will have problems with a rampaging were-elephant that they wouldn't with a were-stoat... still, it can do a great deal toward sparing the archers. As for the archers, I usually train them by loosing caged goblins in the bottom of a firing pit and having my archers fire at them through fortifications from positions of safety. Drawbridges behind the fortifications act as a shutter to keep the miasma out while the goblins rot.

Right, forgot about that. The first fortress was big, second was small, and this one has not grown that much yet (going slowly). Maybe soon then, and the dogs will be my guards probably!

Somehow it does not matter how many times I set up soap production, I seem to always miss several details ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@@knappz0r Yeah. This industry has a *lot* of fiddly little details to it!, and TBH, I miss the old labors system because it made my industries feel more "automatable." Still, if you have to, you can make a bucket of lye, have that bucket trigger making soap, rinse and repeat. Once you do get it right, there's still a feeling of accomplishment, so there's that...

Yeah, I do something similar for steel. Not yet, but soon in this fortress.

Hmm, yes, this is true. Dwarfs are sometimes rebels when it comes to where they can eat. The other chair and tables are the managers and bookkeepers offices, but they are not fancier than in the dormitory, and then there are the ones in the fancy temple but I'm pretty sure I've seen the thought about nice dining room (or at least nicely arranged table) since before the temple was built. But still, some investigation could be done!

Very reasonable, such disorder can't be tolerated!

Can't say I remember details at this point, probably I wanted to deliver the artifact to whoever lost it. Or I did not use it depending on what damage I wanted to do and available time during battle.
