Seeing Hometown Story on this list awakened some repressed memories. I had high hopes for it and even gave it more than a little leeway. I played for over one in-game year, expanded my shop, unlocked new villagers etc. But the game felt so bland and directionless. Fitting, because the game also gives you no direction in how to progress in the story. And even if you look up a guide (which I am still shocked that there are) some events can just choose not to trigger for unknown reasons, making you wait for the next opportunity. And then there's the marriageable characters... First of all there's only three for each gender (at least from what I could find) and they look so similar to each other, especially the bachelorettes. Add to that the confusing way of triggering events and you have a very weird game. Though I can see someone liking the game, but for a Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons fan, this game is very unappealing, sadly.

Home sweet home looks more like a port than a new game. Natsume has been so disappointing for years. That plus their deceptive marketing means I'll pass on buying.

I definitely agree on Hometown Story. I was so hyped for that game. It seemed really like the ideal game for me. But everything that happens in the game is just so random, it seems like there's no logic behind any of it. I also ended up having a glitch where, after upgrading my store to max size (which took less than 1 season to do), the game would freeze and crash if too many characters were in my store at one time. I gave up after that.

I only played HM MFoMT, HM DS cute, SoS, HM Animal Parade.HM MFoMT is my TOP nastalgia game. DS cute was fun but the lack of bachelors (even with the MFoMT attachment) and harvest sprite mechanics lost my interest. Chotic things I miss: HM MFoMT Opportunity to poison the town soup event Crazy dreams Gold lumber fence drama Confessions in the church Sprite labor HM DS Cute Dog house fight club mechanic (SERIOUSLY this is the only reason I played some days 😅) Animal Parade is my favorite but Story of Seasons is more portable so I play more often (2nd favorite). I logged 400+ hrs in SoS and I'm half way yr 3 in game. I love the character customization, town map, towns folks, and rival farmers. The in game unlockable items are bitter sweet on 1 hand it keeps my instrest on the other it sux having to wait 4yrs for a hot spring or certain animals to make clothes or craft Items. I especially find the crafting mechanic is a bit over done and annoying. ESPECIALLY when there is a limited mining point that gives 30 random ores and stones max.

You are doing great. Once you find your niche you will soar. My only advice would be just be you. You dont need your "customer service voice" on( little higher pictched than your normal). You will do great.

Love your top 5! I still need to play Animal Parade. I had skipped that one and Tree of Tranquility but I bought both a few years back and played ToT and loved it, but I didn't get around to Animal Parade. My top 3 would be 1. Harvest Moon DS (both versions), 2. Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar, 3. Harvest Moon FoMT (both versions and the remake). It's a lot harder for me to pick a 4th and 5th because I don't have as strong of feelings for any of them. I would like to put AWL up there since it was my first as a kid, but it suffers from lack of nice bachelors (although the remake fixed that a little bit). I loved Magical Melody but I never "beat" the game so I feel like I can't really put it on there. Trio of Towns was amazing but there was almost too much stuff to do. The SNES version was very fun and holds up even today. I also surprisingly really loved the 2nd Gameboy game. I'm still hoping they will remake HM:DS but I think it's more likely that they will remake Magical Melody. Either way I'd love to play either of them.

I like it but I admit style savvy ofc is waaay better and I wish they would make a switch version 😩and this time let us actually do other things like buy a house, or apartment and date npc’s. fashion dreamer is nice but it will NEVER be style savvy. plus it’s so damn expensive for no reason when you barely can do anything I kinda regret buying it.

n64, FOTM, SNES, Magical Melody.....those three are the only good ones. Otherwise they are bad. Stardew valley did Harvest Moon better than any other HM game.

Magical melody was one of my favourite hm games as a kid, i thought it was sooo fun, i wish theyd remake it for the switch or make something similar I just really liked the to do list to help the harveer goddess, i hope that even if they dont remake magical melody, they have one of those kinds of storylines! Id watch a worst harvest moom games video!! Hahaha
