Hello students, for the question on TB 3B Ex 8C Q10, you may wish to use a shorter method. Let the height of the tree be h. Form tan0.72=(h/AP). Make AP the subject. Form tan 1.3 =(h/AQ). Make AQ the subject. Form AP - AQ = 11.9. Factorise h out from the left hand side. You should be able to find h =13.8 m correct to 3 significant figures. Thank you .

Hi students, this is a rather long exercise. Do break up the exercise into two parts and take a break in between. Although some questions are rather challenging, it tests you on the concepts of polynomials and the connectivity of quotient, divisor and remainder theorem. The questions we have done are valuable to our understanding in this chapter . Don't give up !

Hi students, I forgot to add in stage 4. It is to check if your answers are reasonable or not. to do that we need to substitute x=15 km/h into 450/(165+15) + 450/(165-15) to get 5.5 hrs which is the correct answer ! The question for the last slide is incorrect. The denominator should be 81^(x) times 3^(2-4x). Hence after simplifying the expression, the final answer should be 4 times 3^(3x) for the first part ! Sorry !
