I bought this game at my local mall.

My experience with the first play for two-players: Long learn; Long set-up; Long teach; and Long game-play. The instructions tell you not to review the alien rules until the applicable alien is discovered, which interrupts game play for a not inconsequential learning of the alien rules. Nonetheless, I look forward to playing the game again, particularly at a higher player count in light of your comments.

2 player I straight up wouldn’t recommend the game. At 3 it starts shining but I agree that 4 is where it’s at

The “slug” pulling the bus is the silk worm from the game Silk. It is in the same world. :)

I'm a big fan of this game (and Dani Garcia in general). Haven't played it enough to know if you can win without doing well on the water track though.

Appreciate the overview - and I agree that "flip over and ... why is my sheet different from yours" printing was really odd. There _are_ duplicates in the packs, but you have to do some digging for them. The creator made some low-ink replacement sheets available to print, but this was an odd choice for the printings. I guess chalk that up to lack of experience? Still have to get this to the table. I was ready to and then we had a bunch of family stuff hit. I'll probably try to get to it in some down-ish time this week. :)

Nice looking game. I played it a few times on bga and 1 time in real life. think its not my type of game. Carcassone also doesnt really do something for me. So maybe tile placement isnt my thing? 😮 but its plays fast. Easy to get the rules. But i find it a bit simple maybe. Make rings. Get mushrooms and sell. And there is a bit of flower collecting. Its oke. And im not good at it 😅

Do the retail copies include tower variant B2? I know it was included in the crowd funded copies but I don't know if the retail copies come with it or not. It's just a piece of cardboard that you can swap in the tower that makes it retain more pieces.

Well for those who believe the bible. It’s fantastic having dinosaurs-you could probably credit that also to the flood story that many believe to be totally true-so to the realism of the actual story it makes sense.. So it was great to see them. We have yet to play our copy. Thanks for the review.

Just to let you know I bought this from an online store and it came with the metal victory tokens and silver coins. I believe its part of the 10th anniversary editons, not just the kickstarter

I agree with your assessment, although I would give the game an even higher score due to its “ low rules overhead / high strategy complexity.” I suspect that Windmill Valley will appear on many top ten games lists at year end. Also, I really appreciate your interspersing of still photos with the video because visualizing what you are talking about helps me better understand the points that you are making. Thanks for your usual thoughtful coverage of the game.
