I need to get this out of my system.
I haven't made videos about Flyff Universe for months now. It's time I brought up the reason why.
Check out my newest OSRS video: ua-cam.com/video/0VIOAc_55Qo/v-deo.html
This video will be covering reasons why I've felt hesitant to make videos about this game (and I still do), as well as the direction that I'll be taking my channel from now on.
Don't take this as an insult if you still enjoy playing the game, what I'm stating are merely my own terms which ultimately made me want to leave the game behind. You don't have to agree with my reasons, make your own decisions on whether you still enjoy the game or not.
With that being said, thanks for listening and I wish you a happy Halloween :) Please leave me your thoughts in the comments below, I'd love to hear what you think as well.

I was planning on playing this game but I wanted to see reviews of the game and it looks like most of youtuber that make content of the game quit playing the game lol.
I hope this was insightful as to why as well, if you have any questions feel free to send anything my way ^^ Out of curiosity though, who others have also quit the game? I haven't actually paid attention since naturally Flyff Universe-related content hasn't appealed to me recently :o
you want new content on this channel try doing ff14 free trial 100% run. it is until stormblood iirc, and every year ff14 seems like free trials will just keeps getting better.
Oh yeah, I've heard about it! One of my friends told me last year you can even go as high as level 60 without a single dime. It's crazy good compared to WoW for example where the trial until 20 is just beyond laughable. I've given it a couple shots before, but I never wanted to do the grind alone x) FF14 is also a lot harder to get visibility in since it's a much bigger game with more competition, although the success with my OSRS debut video shows that I can still gain an audience even on some bigger games if I make the video intriguing enough 👀I'll have to think about it ^^
Players who keep on playing and top-upping on this game is dumb as hell. have some balls and quit for good, like this guy. you are one of the smart ones.
Letting go is easy as F2P, but anyone who's invested any sum of money into this game (which from the get-go is counter-intuitive from my standpoint) is highly subject to sunk cost fallacy. I think it's dumb too to deal with a game that keeps deteriorating over time, but the very dilemma also makes people irrational. I don't fault them for that, even though I wouldn't do the same myself x.x
yes specially bots and players has auto attack wtf flyff
People still playing this game I love to see it
Flyff's always had a dedicated community behind it, whether it was people who stuck to the main servers or they started indulging themselves in private servers :) It would be hard to see that activity completely erased.
I have no problem of this game.... Iplay ftp mode spending money in this game is not worth to spend.
Yeah, I've never generally cared about whether any game has P2W or not, I know getting into it that I'll be playing it as F2P and that spenders will always have an upper edge - and in this game the advantage doesn't matter THAT much unless you wanna do PvP. But I'd feel guilty promoting content for a game that's seen by thousands of people, without being aware of its true nature and blinded by nostalgia. I want to promote games that would truly be worth my audience's attention :)
damn you are corny, couldn't watch the whole video.
Those are a lot of Pikachus in the background.
And every single one of them is precious to me 👀
Not gonna lie brother , I was expecting this video months sooner
I'm not surprised, it's been on the top of my head ever since summer but I wanted to release something else before calling it quits with Flyff as I wanted to have another path to follow before closing this one. That ended up taking much longer than I expected though, and this is the end result! At the very least I'm happy to hear it didn't come to you as a complete surprise :)
You're Welcome to ORACLE FLYFF
Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll be looking to set my foot beyond the boundaries of Flyff :)
My friends and I quit a while ago because it became whale simulator. Super disappointed to see the game take that direction especially since it was advertised as NOT being a whale game. Like you said cosmetics only but sadly over time it’s been slowly reverted to old flyff ways.. p2w 😢
I was still cool with it being the very old Flyff still as they gave a lot of mercy with how punishing their systems are, but the fact that they started piling up features on it again like last time as if they never learned their lesson really infuriated me. Shouldn't have expected much else though, with the publisher ending up being the exact same as for the original game :/
i understand what you feel, bec. i too is a free to play player. but gala is a company and not running a charity, they need to have revenue too and its expensive running a server with thousands of player base(specially web base). i also didnt play the FWC v1 and v2, i just ignore it bec. im just a casual player and free to play. but flyff universe has 2 types of player base the F2P and the P2W. if Players willing to spend the game, then its good it will help the Server last longer. if the game is stagnant then Gala wont earn sh1t, which will result to closing the game in the next 3 to 5 years, but if there are some players willing to spend and support the Game then let them, it will make the server last longer which is okay for me. Let the id10ts spend their money. ahahahaha
@@winex01 I totally get that perspective too, we need spenders to take care of us who aren't willing to spend a dime! As I stated though, their business practice doesn't seem to be all that interested in maintaining server lifespan in the first place, but squeezing as much money out of their players until they've had enough. It's a viable business practice too, because with shorter server lifespan you'll have to invest less money into server upkeep over its lifetime while still earning fairly similar figures, resulting in more profit at the cost of player trust. As much as that doesn't concern me as a fellow F2P, as a content creator it's no longer just about me. And I don't want to lead more players into the same trap x.x
Yall know this game is p2w, it’s just the nostalgia hype for u is done period.
@@LovelySofii Nah, it was never the nostalgia hype for me. I've been sailing through Flyff private servers and even the official servers in the recent years, the main drive what brought me here was the hope for a better experience. And that it was, until the game just became too much :)
You don't have to participate in the new FWC Events and they are not making people "pay" it's something voluntary. Do the guides and play for fun bro, will miss the videos for sure because it was more connecting with us and seeing you leveling it was a nice combo lol. Take care
As I stated to someone else here earlier, while FWC was the most prominent example for my complaints, it is also not limited to just this. I mentioned in the text added somewhere in the video that I was also dissatisfied with the ways GALA was making an already expensive game even more costly in the form of ultimate jewelry, ultimate weapon stat rerolls and so on. While FWC also comes off as a voluntary decision, it's also something that will affect you even if you didn't want anything to do with it. Most of the playerbase will migrate there and as a result grouping will be harder, economy takes a hit and when everyone comes back, the market is an utter chaos. And while all of this is happening, some people are also leaving the game behind due to that same reason, making the server even smaller than it already was in the first place x.x Again, many of these problems COULD be avoided if they just decided to apply boosters on existing servers rather than dedicating an entirely new server for that... but of course that wouldn't mean as much money to them x) I'm also gonna remind you that I didn't make this decision just for myself, but also because of the values that I hold onto as a content creator. And because I can no longer recommend this game due to their dirty business model, I don't want to be promoting their game either. I had my fun with it and I still could, but I can no longer turn my back to underlying problems - It's time I moved on. Thanks for enjoying my videos, and I wish you the best of luck in Flyff Universe ^^
I started watching your videos when you started and enjoyed the F2P experience alongside you. I totally respect your decision and quit the game for the same reason.
I'm glad to not be alone in this. Thank you Mike :)
I saw your videos, and watched your streams for a long time, and as a kid i LOVED FlyFF , when i came back to it last year with Universe I was totally in love with it. I randomly got banned the day before a major surgery where i planned to use my recovery time to level chars, so i had spent some money on Fcoin. When i appealed the ban, I was told it was because i violated their ToS and that i just had to deal with it. I now (10 months later) got an email stating I was wrongfully banned and am now able to log in again. I'm so demotivated to play due to this as i now feel like i could get banned at any time and lose the time and money i put into my characters.
Oh yeah, I remember when you talked about the random ban that you got sometime ago on one of my streams. That was real horrible, and I'm relieved they finally got you unbanned but... admittedly, 10 months before finally being pardoned, no surprise that you would've lost your motivation with the game by then :/ I think for the majority of us Flyff is something that has touched our hearts in childhood or adolescence, and I still think that Flyff Universe was a faithful copy to the experience that we once found magical. Too bad that it succumbed to corporate greed once again. Now the door's at least open for ya Kurrann, do what you feel the best. But I've decided to leave it because I know things won't be getting any better. I hope that you'll find your own peace with it :)
@@emenalus Finding a lot of fun in other games at the moment, its normal that we as gamers lose interest in one and then move on to the next! Hope alls well with you man!
@@kurranngaming7530 Most certainly! It's only a large open road ahead of me ^^
This isn't important (yet), but I wanted to also state here that as a creator I first and foremost value *genuinity.* Even though Flyff Universe was undeniably the "breadmaker" of my channel, this isn't about money for me and never has been. Even if I was earning three, even four-figures out of making content out of this game, I wouldn't stick with it if I felt like I was feeding my viewers with lies or a game that I cannot wholeheartedly recommend. After all, my most precious resource out of everything is YOU. I wish that this decision will resonate within all of you as proof that I'm here to provide you with the best entertainment and experiences I can. I wouldn't have it any other way ❤
Just when i found your channel and Flyff again, youre quitting/taking break from the game and at the same time im taking break from OSRS to play Flyff hhah. Keep the OSRS content coming!
Ohh wow, that's a hilarious turn of events XD Although I gotta say that I'm not too surprised to find fellow countrymen also enjoying OSRS out of all things, it's such a staple here for some reason :P Thanks for checking this one out as well, I'm still but a cub with the game but I'm willing to learn and enjoying every step of it! Hope you'll the future stuff that I'll come up with :>
The thing is, you're not forced to participate in FWC. You can, however get months worth of double xp and loot there for duration of time. Besides they've eased up % chances of getting coral weapons from crafting with rare jewels you get from cursed dungeons. And well, can't expect too much from you. You enjoyed the game while it lasted. It's a shame you didn't end up joining MulkvistiAcademy in the end, we would've been more than happy to see you join in dungeons.
While I did highlight FWC as the crux of my arguments in this video, I did also use supporting text to state that my resentments came from encouraging more player spending in general - ultimate jewelry, ultimate weapon stat rolls and premium guild house NPCs to only name a few. Even if FWC wasn't part of the whole equation, I'd still find myself pretty disappointed that squeezing the amount they did from regular upgrading wasn't enough. I don't know how much they actually loosened their grip on the coral weapons with the changes, but at least before I understood that the chances of crafting a weapon from amethysts was mathematically WAY worse than actually just buying the weapon. I hope the update took it to a better direction, but I think in general that when something that's considered "entry-level dungeon gear" is painfully hard to get, it's just not great game design. But each to their own, just not the one for me x) I do genuinely regret that I didn't get in better touch with my Finnish fellows in the community, but I had my own place in the world and my commitment to creating content rather than actually playing the game made me a functionally below-average player. I don't know if it would've ever been a realistic thing to see me join up on late-game dungeons, but I'll wish you luck there ^^
@@emenalus What you even consider 'entry-level dungeon gear'? You don't possibly think everyone walks right in with full 150 coral set +10 with perfect coral weapon? I don't think it's the problem with dungeons itself. It is the fearful perspective, and limited contact itself with dungeons. Heck I was afraid a f even going in a dungeon because I though I can't do it. Yet we are quite literally carried with our new members who practiced tanking from our other tank player. There are even situations our medium geared group sped up faster than average p2w group. It's quite understandable if you don't feel comfortable with dungeons or raids itself. But from my personal perspective, once you've done it few time it will feel smooth sailing.
@@peagames2002 Nah, I've had a bunch of dungeons and raids experience in the past with games like WoW, so that's not a new topic for me. Nor do I expect that an "entry-level set" would be equivalent to what you said, sorry for the confusion and lack of clarification :) From what I've understood, having a coral weapon is basically a bare minimum to even be eligible to join most dungeon groups, and in some the requirements are a little steeper than that. I think you're touching the same problem as I am, but from a different perspective - it's not just about the player who wants to learn having the goosebumps, but also the demands that most groups would put out for you if you wanted to even set foot in dungeons, in other words elitism. This of course can differ if you're in a good and supporting guild, but this isn't the case for everyone and just finding a group to run stuff with can be extremely difficult because people are also afraid of failing and wasting time. Not to mention that depending on the class, even procuring a coral weapon just to enter dungeons can be a ridiculously huge investment to make x.x
@@emenalus Those kinds of random groups are very same groups who end up wiping since they know nothing about running the dungeons. No need a coral weapon to be a genius. I've been within those random groups, and let's just say voice chat communication brings out lot faster results... and less headache and ragequitters. So, my statement is, random groups is like solo queue, shit group bad results. It would be viable to do it with those who are willing to learn mechanics instead of bitching about gear.
@@peagames2002 Only if the majority only really thought like you x) I appreciate that. At least I'll have faith that some will keep a good conduct going!
I'm surprised that you did not notice the insane update they released after fwc. Which dissapointed me a lot. I knew there where a lot of players hoping for some new PvE content (well it came... in the form of 1 more tower level lmao).
You mean 2 more tower levels? You also have a small chance to drop coral shield from tower now.
They're not even intending on releasing a new island this time around? That's hilarious :D I admittedly didn't notice their new content update, but then again there was no real benefit or difference that it would've made even if I did. It still doesn't erase the fact that the game is going towards a foul direction :(
@@emenalus Well, I'm quite positive they haven't completely stopped advancing with updates. The couple system was a welcome update, as it made the system more clear and easier to understand than the older one.
@@peagames2002 I'm glad to hear they're still including pleasant systems too and I was actually hoping for a couple system just for the "roleplay value" for the longest time, but that still doesn't remove any of the underlying problems :)
I just recently started playing Flyff again because I played when I was younger. Watched your guides and went to grinding, but quickly noticed even starter gear sets for characters we insanely priced. Asked a few in game people how to get penya, and cash shop was their instant recommendation... I haven't logged in since then, and seeing you quit cements it for me.
If you're talking about downloadable flyff, there is nothing there left. In FlyffU you can farm crafting resources and berries to sell for profit. Only people that legitimately attempt to sell cash shop are people who are too impatient with endgame weapons.
I think you had a bad roll with the bones when people told you to just resort to cash shop immediately. Most of the starter sets ARE quite expensive for starting players especially since the market is inflated to better suit higher level players, but it still isn't impossible to just grind the money needed even if you obtained them with a delay. Some sets, like the Comet/Cylos set for Mercenary 30 is a potentially viable option all the way to level 90 :) That being said though, the prices vary between servers and there might be some cases where the prices are just outright abysmal for a starting player which really sucks. But that still shouldn't mean that people couldn't stop to give you some real advice. I'm sorry to hear that x.x Either way though, starter gameplay is still child's play when it comes to the real gear-up. High-tier upgrading and gear pieces can come at the price of hundreds, even thousands of dollars easily so if you weren't ready for that, it was definitely a good thing to realize this fact early in the game. It would've only hurt more if it had sank in after investing a lot of time and effort to it. Best of luck to what adventures lie ahead of you in other games ^^
Why you deleted my comment, emenalus? Collecting catcher resources is a viable option and quite many have profited with it. Bad sport?
@@peagames2002 I actually didn't delete it, I promise. I have no reason to remove any comments pertaining to this topic as I know my opinion isn't the only one and the "right" one. I need to check if automod has filtered some out, sorry about that! EDIT: I checked and I didn't find any comments that were being held by the system. That's weird... I'll have to read up on UA-cam comment threads a little more a bit later. I only just got back home so I wouldn't have had the chance to remove any comments anyway :/

Thanks for the suggestion, and hope you'll enjoy my future content as well! All feedback is appreciated and welcome ❤
i just count myself lucky i was able to experience the game in 2005-2010, just wish i had been older to fully experience it :') i was 8 lying with my whole chest saying i was like 16 so people took me seriously and would want to talk to me LMAO This game helped me learn english. Its unfortunate that this game is somehow doomed to always be short lived. Forever one of my biggest heartbreaks
Man that's exactly the way I feel!! I'm only 22 years old, so back when this game was relevant I was suuuper young too and I wish I'd been more mature to understand the charm of the game back then a little better x) I actually had a very similar thing going on for me, although much worse... I pretended to be a girl for YEARS and whenever somebody would ask me for age and name, I'd just use my sister as a scapegoat (she's 6 years older than me so she was perfect XD). I've had some... special experiences thanks to that, interacting with the randoms of the internet, but I gotta say that I'm never repeating that again :P EDIT: It's a sad truth though, the game was never designed to run that deep and you could always see it fall apart through the cracks once you got far enough in the game. But it's an experience regardless, and it's one that I don't ever regret having ^^
That pikachu plush has seen some shiii
You don't know even the half of it 👀
do you consider joining a private server?
If I had to choose either at this point, I probably would. I've had a long past with those so it wouldn't be an entirely new thing for me either x) But for the time being, I rather focus on putting myself out there beyond the confines of Flyff ^^
Your enthusiasm and knowledge about the game you're playing really what got me to tolerate playing FlyffU's leveling grind at that time. I'm looking forward to whatever game you pick up next.
Thank you kleia!! I'm glad you're still willing to see where my journey will take me ❤
Its sad to see how flyff universe became more and more p2w with each update and being more of a seasonal game thanks to fwc. I think this will hurt the playerbase badly over time cause at some point FWC becomes stale and no one wants to start over for the 3rd, 4th or maybe 5th time.
I don't know about that, I've seen lot more players around. FWC helped a lot of players to reach to coral and cursed dungeons expecting to see the 3rd class update and new area. Imo that's pretty nice.
This iteration of FWC already took like 5 months, and with new content updates being released and gear possibly made even more difficult to get, it wouldn't even be much of a surprise in the near future where FWC represents a better half of the year (unless they increase rates which would be counter-intuitive for their business model). It won't be even that encouraging to really get committed to a character when most of the players will end up swarming the event server and the main server becomes pretty empty for the time being. It's hurtful because it splits the community, and also because FWC is a global server which means that most people have to deal with connection issues. With this game being so focused on a life-long grind with your characters considering how hard it is to level them up, I think it's pretty weird too to encourage players to start the journey all over again at the price of some boosted stats :/ It will be useful to some, but I think the sacrifice is just too great.
Speaking of Runescape, are you going to check out Brighter shores once that comes out
Probably sooner or later! Depends if my stats are sufficient for that place :)
If you live in the us whould you give a try to the new maplestory old school server in maple world?
I'm from Finland so that's already a problem if the localization is relevant x) But well, I'm not against the idea of trying out an iteration of Maplestory if that became opportune! It's one of those childhood memories that I didn't get to explore properly ^^
what server??

How bloody sad! But a good choice. Emenalus spear headed a bunch of guides and really fun content(got me back into the game for a while!) I will always support you buddy! Good luck in your new direction and next bits of content! ❤
Your continued support is greatly appreciated, Ape! Thanks for being there for me all the way, and for placing your faith in me even though times have changed ❤
alas...The Legendary only knowledgeable content creator is quiting...we are in for bad times indeeD unfortunate but you stated about the game is true
You're exaggerating my position, there's a bunch of creators who know a lot more about the game than I do, but they may not have put as much effort to share that knowledge to the community ^^ I appreciate your understanding over this matter though, I know it's not an easy topic for anyone and it wasn't for me either. I however am not completely obsessed with the game, so there's a point where enough is enough - and unfortunately, it will probably only get worse from here. Thanks for enjoying my guides! <3
@@emenalus Any content creator you can recommend?
@@leifoh03 There aren't many English creators on the game sadly which is what I was particularly known for, but I know that German creators Macks and Spielestyler at least offer English translations on top of their videos too :)
Playing osrs is the most fun activity amongst the worst possible things you can do for entertainment.
MMOs are a dangerous loophole... :D
spend the 15$ on membership until youre high level to not need to spend 20+ hours making 13mil for 15 days membership when 2 hours of real work will pay for 30 days membership.
The primary reason why I did it was because I personally enjoy these kinds of grinds and as a student my earnings aren't all that significant. But well, I'd say 80% of that is me just enjoying putting effort into money making methods ^^ EDIT: If that wasn't somebody's cup of tea though, definitely go for active membership, at the very least in the beginning. It's not worth it if you're not enjoying the process :>
@@emenalus you ignored my entire argument lol. as a student you can grind OS for 20+ hours for a bond but cant work 2 hours? I also worked part time during my college years to keep my membership cause it was prebonds era :p
@@SupimBryan Oh I really didn't, I just don't think putting in a decent amount of hours over two weeks of time is all that unreasonable! I don't find the grind for money to be a separate "chore" but rather a leisurely part of the experience, so it's really up to what everybody enjoys. I've always been like that with MMO economies :P I don't judge anyone wanting to pay for their memberships instead, and will encourage people to do so if this type of grind feels unpleasant. But for me it's largely a source of motivation to reach somewhere :)
@@emenalus agree to disagree. enjoy wasting time & precious $ in the early game.
i started playing flyff, and i had a friend who got a lvl 110 RM,.. so i borrowed it,. for 1 day i made a level 70 hehehe
Lawolf server?.,, this is fun hahahahahaha
I'm playing in Totemia :)
what's the news about this toon now?
I haven't been playing actively while FWC was running until recently, but he's still alive and kicking I believe in 97s or so. Now that FWC is over though, maybe I'll have a moment or two to spend with him sometime soon ^^
we need more osrs videos
Opinion taken into account <3
Awesome video!! Please more osrs :D
Thanks for the feedback!! I just might ^-^
Great vid! As a new player these are exactly what I feel are the right goals for myself to set. I did just buy a membership though, but all still relevant
@@Woopsah Thank you! Whether it's your first membership through a bond or a paid premium, I believe that the feeling and goals are the same, so I'm glad this video helped you out!! Maybe it'll allow you to maintain your membership with bonds in the future ^^
Osrs videos??? Pog. Missing a giraffe head tho.
Petition to get a giraffe head on OSRS
Holy you're playing Runescape. While I got myself back into FLYFF, I know I'm never going to let myself get immersed in RS again 😂
Did you get way too invested? Can't say I wouldn't understand that, I've sank quite a few hours into this game in the past too x)
@@emenalus i played when I was a kid, back in the old Runescape days, and I the time you can sink into it, ha-ha
@@rand0mlychrisUK I didn't undestand RS back then too well and played the "wrong version". Now that I'm back to it though, I'm enchanted :>
osrs is at top peak player count ever. it's the best time to come back!
@@rawtrout007 Oh really? I actually had no idea, thanks for letting me know :D
