This show destroyed me when I saw it as a freshman in high school. I was super new into anime and my gf at the time only remembered the cute parts in the first two episodes and the intro of the show. So we were both thrown into a loop when the show went the way it did. So tragic.

Always thought it was cute that madoka made art in the anime. Part of me wonders if (spoilers) It was also a way to foreshadow/tie in to madokami, with her art skill eventually translating into her godhood. Heck, Mami even gives her the sketchbook back once she makes her wish.
