My fishing club Verulam Angling Club outside events committee is now organizing sea fishing trips for its members. This form of angling arose because our Club has Hugh Arnott as a member, who back in 2020, completed the amazing task of catching 60 fish species (coarse, game & sea) in 60 days for his 60th year of life. He therefore had gleaned many venues & contacts to achieve such a feat.
This third trip was for just one day out of Minehead aboard the catamaran hulled boat Weyfish One WH7.
The Skipper’s plan was to lure fish for Bass in the morning, then move & bait fish for other species in the afternoon. Trouble was, we were doing rather well at the Bass fishing, so he missed the best bit of the tide suitable for bottom bait fishing. But never mind, having a red letter day for Bass (especially myself with six all over the legal length) was a real treat, so we can forgive him. Nearly all the Bass were over the legal size of 42 cm & those surplus to the two fish each allowed, were returned.
The video is not as long as my normal ones because I was too busy catching Bass (on drifted Lures with a 10 ft flowing trace) to film all the fish being caught. We all caught Bass, enough to each take two legal sized ones home - delicious. Unusually, I caught the most - six in all 😊
