I love that you put your kids ahead of studying - very wise and admirable choice : )
Thank you! Yes, it's hard but a must!

How many hours you study a day?
Im starting soon, already did like 30% of the program, im so pumped
How did you become a junior system administrator? I'm trying to become one and I will have my bachelors by this summer. Any technologies I should be familiar with? What are the typical qualifications? How did you go about landing the role?
I think my biggest concern was doing the courses and not actually learning the skills needed to excel in information technology thank you for this video
So is it two exams total? One written and one performance?
Hey, sorry for the late response. The Security + is just one exam.
The WGU is grossly bad
Why?
how so? Please expand
They are just trolling lol.
Ok
I've met people that create a stigma with online education, and they really condescend others for it. I believe online education is the future. I think people who stigmatize it don't understand the struggles others go through.
100% I’ve done both, online and in person. My online education was much better.
@growwithme7451 We basically had to do it all on our own anyways cause we didn't have great professors. What was the differentiator was access to clubs, internships, and networking events. The name of the university plays a part as well with reputation. But, tuition is way too high at brick and mortars for those to be the only differentiator.
@@emilyau8023it truly depends on the institution. Most universities carry regional accreditation so unless it’s a big big name school nobody will really know the university outside of that local area. This is something that I experienced moving from STL to South Georgia. For me, as an adult, I’ve done a good job networking and believe that there are ways around that with apps like meetup and linked in. Again, this is my personal preference based on what I’ve experienced I’m sure that ppl will disagree.
@growwithme7451 yah, that's why it's so important to consider the benefits to cons. My university had a high employment rate after graduating and is a well-known school, so it definitely gave more advantages if a person can afford it. I wouldn't choose a no-name school for expensive tuition with a low employment rate.
@@emilyau8023agreed!
I am not an IT guy but I am looking into going online to WGU. I am wondering how much help someone like me can get. I am 50 plus and going to college for the first time. I am looking at a communication major. It sounds like a good school. I am still trying to decide.
Consider doing it in steps. . . take a couple free courses somewhere to build up your confidence and see how it might fit into your schedule. If you feel you need a refresher course on the high school or lower courses, u.s. career institute and penn foster are popular, though of course, many community colleges offer options as well - unfortunately, it's difficult to find these kinds of courses online with a CC or at least those don't require physically attending the school's orientation. . . and of course, there's self study or non transcript options out there, but they can still help you to pass placement tests. Anyway, consider working towards a certificate or an associate degree. Some courses may transfer, especially the more related it is to your chosen major. It's practical to make it so each step of the way you can earn a little something whether you stop or continue, of course, they each have their own expenses but it might save you $ in the long run... and it could help secure more funding as you establish you're a serious student than being a high risk investment. Also, some schools will try to convert life/work/volunteer experiences into elective credit, so look into that as well. There are a lot of options if you want to learn to code - virtually a group catering to every demographic, every background, at every level. Some as short as a weekend boot camps and others considerably longer, but for the most part it's largely geared to earn you professional certificates recognizing your competency in a programming language. They might help out with other things too. At the starting level, it's not that difficult to find a free program to familiarize you with the basics but competition increases with each level. There are a handful of apprenticeship programs, largely in trade fields but one semi-related path might be in agricultural business. Which has one of the better apprenticeship programs with Zurich North America, a farming insurance company. One school in their program off the top of my head would be northeast iowa community college, I believe it's an online associate and if accepted to apprenticeship, they'll cover the bulk of tuition for the associate. But they are partnered with other schools and you might check with the department of labor (or it's equivalent, if you're not in the states) about other apprenticeship programs. You can also check in with your local unemployment office or vocational rehab and see what programs they have available. Sometimes they'll pay a portion of your tuition as well. Then there's a wide variety of awards, grants, scholarships and programs for special interest groups (age, sexuality, gender, ethnicity, culture, religion, disabilities, etc). If you're close to 60. It might be worth it to wait but do research your options. There's more than a few schools that reduce tuition or offer free career courses for those 60 and older returning to school.
I couldn't have said it better.
I think you should look into the ROI on communication degrees with it not just focused on online education. If it's just for fun, wish you luck.
The volume on this video is a little low compared to other videos.
What was the 2 certs that you was looking at? Im thinking about doing the BSIT or the Accelerated MSITM. I think they will take 90 credits from me.
The cysa and pentest +
my issue i am having is i am noticing with how i learn and study for tests i need more than 6 months . i am going on my 3rd try for my core 1 and still in the 1st quarter cutting it close. i am improving each time i just feel like i need more time than a 6 month quarter to study for my certs.
Yeah, I ran into this same issue with some of the certs. They are not easy at all. I often tell people 1 cert is equivalent to 3 or 4 classes jammed into one. Just know that when you finish, it'll show employers how dedicated you are to you career and you'll stand out more than most. Good luck on your journey brother. Always here if you have any questions!!
thank you appreicate the videos and reply @@growwithme7451
@@growwithme7451 barlery passed at the end of the quarter lol. on to core 2 and term 2 .
Let's go! It's been a minute! I like your video formats. I've been seeing in Linkedin WGU students getting all those certifications.
Thank you man, I sincerely appreciate the positive content. Just want to create content for people that are considering the same career and just need reassurance. WGU provides you with a lot of good certifications that i believe really help out in your career.
Very good information about WGU
Thank you so much!!
I failed the Network+ in october. Looking to retake it in a month or 2 . I dont know why i started with N+ everyone says its the hardest of the trio. I should have started with A+ but i already paid for N+ . After n+ i want to get security+ . Ive been acepted into WGU so i need these certs for that
Yes, Net + was the hardest one for me not going to lie. With time you can definitely get it done, i failed on my first attempt and then past on my second attempt. Sec + was the easiest for me.
Great content. Thank you:)
No THANK YOU!
Brother with the trifecta! ✊🏿✊🏿 I'm behind your steps too
You got this my man!!
I've got the A+ recently. Taking a break and then Cloud practitioner cert then N+ next, S+.
Good stuff! Let me know if you need help with anything! I'm going to make a video on the Aws Cloud practitioner as well.
Awesome video! Definitely subscribing... Ive been studying CompTIA for months
Welcome aboard! Keep studying you got this!
Thanks for the great content! Which course did you take on the Cisco Network Academy?
probably linux essentials, in network academy, this is a older cisco page they are migrating to skill for all's page
you can get udemy for free depending on your state with your library card , also i think military gets udemy for free . i am almost finished with jason dions course for a+ enrolled in wgu as well
Hello fellow Night owl
that's great info. I had no idea! Thanks man!!
I’m about to change careers!!!
when you watched the messor and meyers videos did you take notes or just watch?
I only watch, i hardly ever take notes.
@@growwithme7451 but how do you remember all the information. I can’t take it all in even when writing notes. I was watching the videos about port numbers and stuff and I can’t take it all in
@@Jordan-ff6mc sorry for taking so long to respond. Quizlet is a good resource for having notes but not taking them. There are plenty of quizlet flash card sets available for the A+. It'll save you a lot of time.
Thanks for information. 🙏🏽 How difficult is it to get a job once you pass the exam?
Sorry for the late reply. I actually got my current job ( jr sys admin) before I completed my first cert.
Ty for this video.
no problem big guy!

Practice exams by who on udemy
Jason Dion
I'm starting to lear Comptia A+ this month and i hope to complete it later to pass my international exam as well to get my certificate
You got this!
I’m studying for the A plus at the moment. Should I go after network plus next or something else?
Honestly I would say stick with A+. If you are already in a Help desk / Tech role then I would say jump to Net + or Security +
Thanks for this video!
np bro!
What is a realistic time table to learn all the material and pass the exam?
One Month for both test if you can put a lot of times towards it. If not, I would say 1 month per each test at the longest. It seems like alot of material but when you get started, it really isn't that bad.
Ya.. you don’t touch your cert 😂 “been busy working” yea that’s the point, to get a job with it
Very true.
Just subscribed to your channel.
I greatly appreciate that.
@@growwithme7451 You're welcome

What about the book CompTIA A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide, Eleventh Edition (Exams 220-1101 & 220-1102) (The CompTIA A+ Certification All-In-One Exam Guides) does that help?
Yes, that is a great resource. I personally used the Exam objectives and then followed professor Messer Videos and Mike Meyers on Udemy. If unable to purchase udemy then I would just use professor Messer.
I'm kind of spacing out between re-taking Dion's exams before my scheduled 1101 exam next Friday. (Just to be sure I'm not retaking based off straight memorization and reading each question thoroughly to understand the concepts). If I'm consistently scoring >>> 90% do you have anything else you'd recommend supplementing just to be additionally prepared? I hear a lot of people say there are a lot of printer questions which I've been watching a lot of vids for to make sure I'm solid. (Laser printers hurt my head lol). While studying, I also physically wrote out notes for concepts I struggled to remember while taking Dion's exams because I know I retain and can recall information more easily if I write it physically with pen and paper.
Sounds like you have a great plan. With me responding this late, I surely hope you passed the exam. I would say getting 90% or higher consistently is good enough to move forward with the exam.
@@growwithme7451 Thank you! I did pass 😊
I’m studying the Dion practice exams as well,
Congrats!
Thanks buddy
What is your opinion on A+ for dummies as a study guide. Thank you.
Haven't looked at that material. I would say just use professor Messer and CompTIA exam objectives and you'll be fine.
Did they send the cert to you for free?
They should lol. The test is already almost $500.
Yup they send you an email a few days later to confirm you address then they ship the cert at no cost.
I have jason Dion's practice exams. Its helping me along wirh Professor Messer and Mike Meyers.
I love his practice exams. If you follow those, you'll pass for sure.

I'm Comptia A+ certified as of November 2023. Took a break now on to N+( I clearly watched your N+ video too, lol).
Currently studying for 1101 as well too!
You're going to pass!
Congrat on your cert. did start studying last fall but took break to focus on my health. I’m back studying again. Keep it up and do work in IT?
I passed this cert about a year ago. I'm getting back to content, and what better way to start? Yes, I work as a junior sys admin. SO I'll be doing some videos on things I do at work. Also, I'll be posting a video this evening on the network +. Good luck on your journey, and please reach out if you have any questions.
I am currently studying for 1101! Been scoring mid 70s on Dion exams. Kind of nervous about taking the exam.
Don't be nervous. The exam is very very similar to the practice exams. Keep doing the practice exams and then take it. You won't fail!
@@growwithme7451 thank you!
Passed both 1101 and 1102. I think if u could get 70 plus on the practice example u should be good. IMO Jason dion practice exam are a lot harder than the test which is a good thing. Good luck! Hope u pass!
