      The K&B is just filtered with an auto filter. I need to dig up the project but usually, I use many FX in the intro so it's most likely just a sample I found or some FX preset. Nothing special, I go very simple with these one-shots and don't e.g synthesize them.

      Tbh, I use mostly preset banks. But if you want to create them on your own you can do it like this: ua-cam.com/video/IMVqRQuf0RU/v-deo.htmlsi=Uf8wl4m4i2kELDhl But I also might do a video on FM synthesis which can be used to make those as well.

    I like the melody created, but the biggest doubt is the patch used on this sound. Cuz it seems your patch has some lfo on the pitch of the oscillator aligned to the grid, just wanted to know if it is this because it makes so much difference on the melody

      I can check in a week once I'm back but let's say even if there would be an arp in there you can still draw notes over the top. Depends a bit on how random things are.

    Thanks for the Video. On a normal headset the intro sounded best. Why is this with FMs in DAWs because sometimes when they pull high fms on Analog Modular systems and go nuts on Octave/ Pitch its still sounds awesome? Are the simulationen in our daw not accurate enough?

    • @Psiger
      @Psiger 5 днів тому

      I believe you can design anything in digitally. Even though hardware freaks will not agree with me. In the end an audio signal is just amplitude over time. So any information could be potentially printed into that wave. On hardware, you have sometimes side effects that are more pleasant to the ears then if it would be processed at it is. Eg tape effects vs bluntly clipping stuff. But tbh I don't so much hardware maybe some hardware enthusiasts here in the community know this?

So thanks to you I could open the project using the "disable VST plugins" tip. I opened the project, deleted the track that was crashing it and now I can continue safely. Thanks again for this man!

      Welcome, brother :) about the return tracks in Ableton 12, I think you can now also drag over devices. Also I usually keep multiple versions of my project eg once I start kind of an initial state. Then you could load that one and drag it over into that one that already has those returns. Anyway you managed it ✨🙏 glad I could help!

    Getting a lot out of your videos, Psiger. I’m in the very early stages of producing psytrance, but I can’t figure out how to do the sort of high-end distorted with reverb leads that are very common in all types of psytrance. It seems like there’s so much control over these sounds, like they swirl and meld together perfectly. I have downloaded some Vital presets that are ok, but I can’t get that futuristic distorted guitar sound. Could you tell me that that sound is and how I can get it? :)

    • @Psiger
      @Psiger 14 днів тому

      I think you refer to gritty type also called FM sounds, right? Imho its mostly the wavetable. You should find a video on my channel if your search for jucy FMs which shows how to make them in Serum. Secondly its the mix, the right delay (rhythm, feedback, and mix, as well as the filter in the delay) goes a long way imho.

    • @Psiger
      @Psiger 14 днів тому

      Serum and Vital have imho the best gui, phase plant is also Ok but I fully agree the other synths get more confusing. I think what those synths solve so good is that you can see the modulation curves and where they are assigned to.

    First sound is a live instrument pitched down 1 octave but keeping the original transient and the second sound is the same sound but stretched in time 100% which also equals an octave of course...

    • @Psiger
      @Psiger 20 днів тому

      So you mean both an octave down but the first one the transient is the original one, one octave higher if I got you correct. Could be but right after the transient it still sounds higher, then I guess we would hear it sweeping from this part to the downpitched one in the overlapping part. But definitely possible that's a mix or layer.

  • @molloyzer1
    @molloyzer1 21 день тому

    I’ve only started making psytrance for about two months. I have worked with MIDI previously, but my production approach was almost the opposite of what one usually needs with psytrance. Saying that, I have carried over some musical habits that could be beneficial or a disadvantage. I used to do industrial neo-folk type stuff with some post-rock influences and all the drums had loads of reverb and sometimes delay, odd time-signatures with harp melodies, harsh clanging percussive sounds, but with psytrance, everything needs to be very neat, organised and consistent and it’s been very interesting drastically changing my approach to making music. I’m using presets on vital for bass, sequences, melodies, SFX and I’m using every free synth plugin I can get my hands on, but I’d need to get some better ones for drums like the ones mentioned in this video. I’m also a little self-conscious about how other people will receive my music. I want to create it for the most part, DJ it and I want the people to really enjoy it. That said, Hi-tech seems to be in vogue at the moment and any trance event I go to now doesn’t have much music under 150bpm which the tempo i use. I also have more focus on the melodic, Tangerine Dream-esque synth pads that I just can’t help incorporating whereas most of what I hear in clubs and festivals are up to 300bpm with ominous sounds and robotic effects. I kinda like it but it’s sensory overload after an hour or so and I’m not sure how I’ll fit in. :L

    • @Psiger
      @Psiger 20 днів тому

      I think its always beneficial to have experience in other genres. Especially rock has been a lot on the earlier days of Psytrance like Raja Ram stuff for example. Two styles always need adaptation to make them work together but can then result in something different/ new. I would start diving deep into understanding Psytrance production and then starting to merge it later to avoid getting stuck. But there are always many ways to do stuff :) Hi-tech is popular but I wouldn't agree that there is no music under 150 most big festivals like Ozora, Boom, Indian Spirit, and many more which I haven't visited lately play full-on the majority of playtime. I think oz depends on where you go ;)

    I think, I listen to music differently, than the average user. My favourite find in a long time has to be "Uncharted Territory - 925" (every track is great .. especially the one named after their artist-name "Uncharted Territories" is such a monster banger .. "Employee Of The Month" is also just perfect). Yet, when I look it up on youtube, each of those tracks doesn't have a lot of listens. Thus, I think, there's a lot of luck involved, too. Either that, or my musical taste is way different from most people.

    • @Psiger
      @Psiger 28 днів тому

      Well as you say it the taste is more mainstream then there is a bigger market for the music but also the competition is usually higher. There is a saying: luck is when preparation meets opportunity. Sure kind of randomish evenets happen all the time, but in the end, the more chances people take and the better they are prepared the higher the luck gets. Even if you want to win the lottery you need to have a ticket first ;)

    • @cefk9944
      @cefk9944 28 днів тому

      @@Psiger I'm not Uncharted Territory .. nor am I related or affiliated or whatever .. they don't know, I exist. I just like their music and find it the most interesting collab in this music-genre of the past few years (in case, there's a misunderstanding). I for my part have made my peace with never achieving the ability to create mainstream-music, because I just don't like most of it. I have never figured out, how to make music, I don't feel passionate about .. or music, that some hypothetical target-audience may like (how would I know, what people with dissimilar taste may find to be "good"?!?). If I don't like it, myself, I have no reliable measurement to go by. If it makes me wanna bounce, I'm happy with what I've created .. no matter the result. It still hurts to see talent like e.g. Uncharted Territory (and others) not even getting a fraction of the love, they'd have deserved, imho (aka according to my taste).
