Attempt apply heat to the screw cap to loosen it. Because a cold screw that stuck can loosen by heat. Only this cap screw got bent or misaligned when I first use pliers to turn counter clockwise without enough room to work on. That is why new model bath tub faucet valve is able to pull out. New bath tub faucet valve is plastic, valve doesn't use screw style for tightening.
