Wow those Plane Trees would have been popping with smell in the rain!

What a boring place these days, full of pubic servants and politicians- struth!, stone the crows, dryer than a dead dingoes donger and about as motivated as watching cane toads mate. Wasn’t always that way! When I was a young sales manager, I used to travel to Caaaan Berrah and eat at a superb Indian restaurant ( Shalimar with chef/owner Joseph Cotta ) and regularly saw Gough Whitlam and his senior team enjoy the meal and the finest red wines of the world. Gough used to get a bit loud but Al Grasby, bless his Riverina Italian mafia heritage, was louder and every second word it seems was F**k. The wine eventually flowed for everyone still in the restaurant come 11pm and the room got rowdy That was caaaanberrrra, alive and awake

I loved Rose Bay...stayed in a boat moored there, one weekend....it was so peaceful...

For a school holiday treat we'd sometimes go there by train in the 1950's. Having got there, we'd catch the trolley bus to Sans Souci (pronounced in English, not French). A quick swim in the baths there, shower, change, have lunch a café, and return home.

The path from station to Redfern park on a sunny morning is also very nice. Maybe you could try that one the next time.
