Those low water levels suck. I got 6 stitches in Kobarid after a similar situation.

Freund hat bei 1:14 geschwomen. Zum Gluck ist er ein guter schwimer und wahr sofort am linken Ufer raus. Der kayak ist cca. 1 km selbst geschwomen.😃Neben Eskimo muss man auch schwimen manchmal prakticiren.
You can swim with your paddle, needs some practice though. And you can use it as a tool to push yourself off the rocks. So I would hold on to it if possible. Paddles can be also really difficult to recover. I have lost one to a 300m stretch of whitewater between two lakes.
Yeah, you are right. I practiced swimming with a paddle a few times but in a deeper stream. And here I decided to let my paddle go when I swam head first and I couldn't turn :-)
