      Canyon frame is super 👍 Wheels you could get the Zipp 858 they're faster, but I would suggest you save the drops to get Enve SES 7.8 at Level 36 and DT Swiss Disc at level 39. You're a few levels away from my 2 favourite wheelsets 👍

  • @raynewport9395
    @raynewport9395 6 днів тому

    This is good information, I use this kind of comparison a lot. But race situations are different. In a race, you might well be draughting a lot, so a bike that was better at climbing (when draughting isn't as good) would be a slightly better bet. Thus a solo comparison doesn't tell you everything. Also a climby bike gives you a better chance of leaving the bunch.

    • @crankandsprints
      @crankandsprints 6 днів тому

      Yes, race dynamics changes a lot. I guess if the group is quite broken like could be a NY route or maybe a route with the Grade/the tower someone with the Tron would be able to take seconds back on those continuous up and downs. I'm a climber for example, so I would rather have an aero bike that gives me help on the flat to either go away or recover in the unlucky case I'm alone

  • @JDirom

  • @benfinesilver2250
    @benfinesilver2250 6 днів тому

    Clickbait. Proved nothing, sorry. Fastest bike is course/gradient dependent and you choose your bike considering the important parts of the race and there is draft to consider on flat where your power is comfortable. You can’t make any blanket statements.

    • @crankandsprints
      @crankandsprints 6 днів тому

      The first test is quite beneficial on KM completed = levelling up and drops. And it's actually quite a big difference For the climbs, the draft doesn't really count as much if we purely consider the climb. What I was trying to prove, especially if is a small race and you are out attacking, between a bike like a Tron and the Aethos there is a big difference based on how you are planning to compete. Are you attacking uphill? Or are you defending and needing a more aero bike to catch up or attack in the flats? If in the race, the plan is to stay on the wheels for all the stage, then many bikes would do the job

    • @benfinesilver2250
      @benfinesilver2250 6 днів тому

      @ All races attack on hills precisely because there is less draft. That makes the effect of a climbing bike proportionately more than the numbers suggest… but it also depends on how steep that hill is. To stay attached on downhills and flat sections, you don’t need much power because there is a lot of draft and you won’t easily get away if you attack. The overall choice depends on the climbs, their length, gradient and how the race finishes for a sprint. There is no fastest bike. It depends. Your first test just shows that a TT bike is faster. All tests solo are not accurate in a racing scenario. Flat times will be faster/need less power with a lighter bike. Say you need 250w on a Tron over flat to stay attached to a group, you will need 255 on a lightweight bike. That extra 5w won’t feel like anything. Skillful drafting can make up for more than 5 watts. Going downhill requires even less effort and the perceived physiological effort between lightweight and aero would be no different going down. You choose the most aero bike you think you can get away with to be in contention at the end, assuming it is a flat or slight incline finish. If there’s a significant incline at the finish, it’s the other way around.. the most lightweight setup you can survive with for the climb. For lightweight to be worthwhile, the climb has to be 5% or more, otherwise there is no difference or it’s slower (less than 3%).

    • @DanceonthePedals
      @DanceonthePedals 4 дні тому

      Well said, I agree with the drafting skill. But I do appreciate the video content. I use Zwift Insider scatter plot to give me ideas, it’s fun to change set ups , especially in the Tiny races. I got on a race that went into the jungle but started on tarmac. I decided to try the Crux gravel bikes. ….. and went backwards and backwards at high threshold, ouch. ….until I hit the gravel, then went from 96th position 96th position to 14th, the front group , making connection after the suspension bridge. Whoosh! Unfortunately the finish line was after a long boardwalk area and lost gravel advantage.. Ultimately for my effort and ability there was no advantage for me with the bike I chose, But that being said I still had fun blasting by everyone…😂😂. ,

      @ It is like @crankandsprints says: I would not have expected such a gap. If I put that in perspective with Alpe du Zwift, there will be a significant advantage! My Pb is 39:15 on the TRON... would be under 39 on the Aethos... WOW.

    I’ve been using FOUVY for 10 days and find it more engaging. The social aspect of Zwift is not important to me at all but the realism ROUVY provides is important. I find that I want to ride more. The quantity of workouts seems to have increased in the last year so it’s giving me everything I need at a lower price point.

  • @CogMarks

    I’m a new rider, 57 years old with two replaced knees. I weigh 53 kg. I am a D rider. Last night after a ride with what I thought was too high power considering my low effort, and I was bumped to C. I have a wheel-on Wahoo Snap trainer. The power is all over the place with that thing, and it is a good bit higher than the reading from my power pedals. I had just started Zwift when the change came about to the race numbers in early December, and I was put at a C level with a 414 race number which is ridiculous for my abilities. I think my issues of being overrated with Zwift are both my trainer and the new algorithm. 😫

    • @crankandsprints
      @crankandsprints 16 днів тому

      Hi, did you try to check the strength of the trainer on the zwift settings is it at 100%? I feel exactly the same, I'm B and I've been bumped in A, but being just above 60kg is really difficult, the positive things that now my racing score is around 600 and not too high, in the right range I would say, I think if you keep racing and riding events based on the race score it will adapted better to your results in the category, not the power, with 53kg I imagine that yout Wkg are quite high

    Not sure I would call it the best trainer for 2025. I got mine a week ago after waiting 4 months for delivery. I’ve had nothing but trouble with WiFi connectivity issues. Reached out to JetBlack support. Yet to hear from them. However, from others’ experience it might be a firmware issue. I’m using 4.9 but apparently there’s a 4.12 preview version that solves WiFi issues. We will see!

      Sorry to hear about your experience, is the connecting on an off of dropping completely? Hopefully they will fix it. What frequency of WiFi do you use? 2.4 ghz or 5ghz?

      @crankandsprints my setup is using 2.4GHz. I downloaded the preview firmware after getting the code off a website where others were posting the same issues. It seems to have solved my problem (only one ride though). I notice prior the firmware upgrade, when I would check my connected devices in Zwift, there were multiple instances of ANT+ and BLE connections with the Victory. Each showing different wattages, RPMs, or No Signal. With 4.12, there is just one BLE, one ANT+ and one WiFi connection for each one. (If that makes sense).

    Do you have your bike secured to the floor? When I get out of the saddle my bike rocks too much. Like it might fall over.

      Not really, to be fair is quite bumpy (I also loosen a bit the tire pressure so it bumps a bit more 👍 With the Kickr it was really stable, with the Jet it moves a bit, I'm considering buying the mini plates and add the tennis balls underneath but I'm not sure yet 🤔 Not fall over, but once of twice I went to aggressive and I disconnected the cable 🤣

      Okay, if seen the “tennis ball” plate. I’ve also looked at some other “rocker plates” but they are too expensive.

      @terrencestamps5125 yes, rocker plate option is great, but quite expensive imho

    You forgot the best reason, the virtual shifting!

      I mentioned briefly when talking about the grip and comfortabilty, but you're right I should have mentioned as well on the reason to buy. I used Zwift Click before so now I'm used to virtual shifting as if it is normal 😁

      the play virtual shifting buttons are awful. The click is much better, but I love the virtual shifting

    Like you I thought I'd give them a shot while 50% off. Chunkier than I thought and had to move them down the bars to get fingers around hoods, so have the same problem as you when sprinting - have to use the ends of the bars so nowhere near gear lever. Agree on the cornering, but sometimes you need to choose between better line ir better draft. Lots of negative responses on forums but mostly from early days when braking couldn't be disabled, where now you can do that. Still early days but so far so good.

      @crankandsprints 20 днів тому

      Yes, they're a bit chunkier than expected. I'm actually ok around the hoods, mine are quite big because I have a Trek, I'm still testing the position on the Sprints, less grip with classic position or full grip but different position. Brake disabled is really good, I'm really happy with the value added vs cost so far 👍

    Are you considering buying the Zwift Play Controller at 50% off? If you have them already whats your favourite feature? 👍
