IC-705 with MAT-705PLUS
The mAT-705 is the PERECT match for the IC-705 and performs extremely well. I was a little wary of the mAT due to the problems with the previous model, but this one is superb! The complaints of short battery life (relative to some other tuners like the LDG Z-100PLUS) are not really an issue for me because I am completely happy to charge the battery prior to going out in the field. I got this unit for much less than half the regular cost, so it was a bargain.

Just a quick tour of my tiny amateur radio shack. I don’t do a great deal of radio from home actually - preferring to operate outdoors instead. But during the winter months it's always nice to be able to carry on with the hobby. The equipment consists mainly of... * ICOM IC-7610 * ICOM IC-705 * YAESU FT-818ND * YAESU FTM-500D * YAESU FT-3D * YAESU FT-70D * KENWOOD TH-D74 * WOUXUN KG-UV8G * PREP...

Maybe a fake? From what I’ve read and hear a real Apple AirPods Pro will not connect.
They will
Maybe a fake?? I've demonstrated in the video that they work - what else do you want?
Brillant! thanks for sharing. I have a knock off pair I want to check but I may have to steal the wifes till I get a pair in. I bought the adapter for my Heil Proset Elie ic headset that I use on the IC 7300 but did not read the fine print its Mono on the headset side when used with the 705. - kc2bkm
i think i heard you right as in saying you was running two watts - afaik when running on the battery max power is 5W and 20% of that would be 1W :) A nice solution you have there with the table-clamp - have you considered bungee straps at all tho ? lighter and can be wrapped around most things :) 73 2E0FWE
Love this Tom. I need to make something like this. Ian (G0VGS)
I really like both radios. Our of my budget at the moment. Seems like the 705 with a amp would work at home or the field and be about the same price. At home I'm mostly on vhf which the 7300 doesnt do.
7300 sounds a bit bassy muffled, maybe the treble setting is set to low.
There's no difference . only two types of bugles on each radio ,and in the icom 703 you have the preamplifier activated
The issue with the built-in ATU was resolved with a FirmWare Update and now works superbly!! www.m7mcq.com
I’m sorry I cannot see exactly what you’re doing as I am totally blind with this clamp. Also work good as a window clamp? And did you make that yourself or buy it?
Sorry for delay replying Chad. I mentioned in the Description where the clamp came from - a UK company called ALLCAM. It cost me just £14 😲 The clamp allows me to stand my AlexLoop antenna up on any table which is great when out doing Parks On The Air, etc.
I own both the IC-7300 & IC-705; both excellent radios.
I confirm. Even when the field antenna is far away, the QRM is there. the biggest problem is in the 10m and 6m bands. ICOM do something about it! ANDY SP1WSR
In my opinion 705 has better receiver than 7300 !
As you can see, there was an IOTA Contest going on.
turn off the preamp and turn down the RF gain
BEAR IN MIND that I ordered this radio way back in MARCH 2022 and I've yet to have a QSO four months on in JULY!! The unit initially failed with the recognised issue of "CPU'S NOT INITIALISED" so I had to wait for a replacement display board. THEN after replacing the board I ran tests into a dummy load and had a complete TX failure on every band :-( THEN i had to wait forever for a new main PCB and Band Boards to arrive and so here we are four months later, trying to get things sorted out. Read all about it in my blog www.m7mcq.com 73, Tom.
Mmm.
tnx for mentioning :-) I'm sure if you turn the screen off, the rest of the noise will also disappear... 73, Othmar OE1SOW
Thanks for the quick video. I've got the BT10 on order for my Yaesu FT-5DR, but it's nice to know that it will work with my 705 as well.
Не никакого смысла выкручивать Gain на максимум в ssb, он в автоматическом режиме работает великолепно
Спасибо
And the reason for the fault (along with the fix) can be read here... tommcquiggan.blogspot.com/2021/07/no-audio-from-dvstick30.html
Hi, what antenna are you using? Cheers! 73 de 2E0HJN
Hi Manny, in this demonstration I was using an AOR SA-7000 (Link Below), although I sometimes connect it to my more elevated Diamond V2000 colinear. Thanks for the visit. 73, Tom, M7MCQ www.m7mcq.com www.hamradio.co.uk/aerials-antenna-manufacturers-aor-antennas//aor-sa7000-super-wide-band-base-aerial-system-pd-10968.php
Just found your video, that's great . Give me a call again some day on your QPR, great fun . Very73 mm0udi Robbie
Thanks very much Robbie. I look forward to future chats, 73, Tom, M7MCQ
I just got mine late last week. I’m having a lot of fun. Haven’t used record feature yet. The AH-705 is “out for delivery” today. Thx for the vid. de AD8EV
I use Sennheiser CX350BT it’s connects to 2 Bluetooth devices at the same time I am using the IPhone 12 Mini & Yaesu ft3d ). I can listen to music on my iPhone and monitor for phone calls and the Yaesu ft3d will audio interrupt when RX. Turn Siri off on iphone then the ( Siri button ) on CX350BT to transmit on Yaesu then ( Play / Pause button ) on CX350BT stop transmission on Yaesu. Sounds pretty good too !
That's cool. Yet another option for the 705 :-)
I just got mine but it goes to 3 gh.
Is that due to a firmware update??
@@thomasmcquiggan2418 it's the version 2 but not sure on firmware.
Nice one Tom... just goes to show what can be achieved... excellent that Robbie took the time to let you do the trial... enjoy the 705... excellent radio... and I bet you can't wait till the lockdown ends and you can get out and about with it... Thanks... YOKI..
Thank you for your kind comments Yoki - much appreciated. I am very much looking forward to a long, warm summer outdoors with the 705. Perhaps I need to move to a warmer climate than the UK LOL. 73, www.m7mcq.com
Awesomeness! :) 🤜🏻👍🤛🏻♡♡♡
Looking at the display, the antenna is set to 'internal '. Is it definitely receiving via the loop?
I just dont get the attraction to yhe 705. Too much money for what your getting.
I know what you mean! That's exactly how I felt until I balanced it against something..... tommcquiggan.blogspot.com/2021/01/icom-ic-705.html
@@thomasmcquiggan2418 It does everything except 4m. The ability for a stable UHF is brilliant for driving microwave gear for QO-100 and other satellites. And then it's a fantastic performer on HF too. It's just win win no matter which band you use.
Hi Tom my name is Allan in stoke on Trent tom l sent you a email from QRZ all the best Allan G6TMO
Ooops! Someone pointed out that the 705 has the PreAmp switched on and the 7300 doesn't. My bad!
Yes it was a big pileup :) 73 de Timo OH1NOA op at the time at OG1XMAS
Hi Tom, It's a coincidence that I was listening to OG1XMAS when you were. He was a huge signal, When he called CQ Europe it sounded like the whole of Europe called him. 73, Chris, G4HYG

The best in Class,
articulate and good production values
That's incredibly kind Thomas :-)
Awesome, thank you. How do you like that 7610? I'm debating between that and the FTDX101D. I'm a bit of a Yaesu fanboy but I can't deny Icom has been making some damn good radios.
THE BEST!! Read this post... tommcquiggan.blogspot.com/2020/02/icom-ic-7610.html
Walk... Bah Humbug... Get the 4X4 Up St Georges it's a "Green Lane" :)
You definitely made a better choice with the NanoVNA-F over the MFJ analyzers. I need to make a nice case for my non-F VNA.
we make some measurement an comparing with MFJ... its equal...
Oh dear! I think I must have said "err" about 40 times :-D :-D :-D You don't realise you're err doing it until you play it back LOL.
