We are a group of observability and monitoring experts dedicated to a single mission. We strongly believe Observability should be easy to understand, use, install, integrate, and manage.
We make Observability easy for every developer.
We will fully embrace OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and open standards for modern observability. Our primary focus will be on correlating and contextualizing issues to look beyond the limitations of telemetry silos. It should be easy for users to collect relevant telemetry and our goal is to have widespread adoption with a user-friendly and developer-friendly experience. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, friends :) Pleasure to hear about what kept me up at night at Instana.
But how does one deal with large traces with thousands of spans? Has anyone solved this problem? Maybe splitting up the trace in the UI?
@MrLyleThompson: True, dealing with that many spans per trace can be challenging - so are long (in terms of duration) traces with very short spans. We are experimenting with trace visualizations inspired by profilers and other dev tools incorporating zooming capabilities. In other scenarios, we show subsets of a trace. But, we do see further ways to improve the experience for end-users. More on that in the future!
