My First Ever Pixel Art Timelapse with Commentary

Thanks for watching my first ever pixel art timelapse video. In it, I make a sprite based on a character I made while learning the ttrpg system Lancer. I wasn't happy with the first version of this sprite, so I remade her a few different times, and I hope you like the sprite as much as I do.

      @@ameliadeanVA277 That’s a really good point. A lot of my early campaigns were online, so that would happen a lot, but I think most players will understand that in those cases, accidents will happen. I also like to wait a moment after people finish talking just to make sure they’re actually done and it’s not like a connection thing or something. Because yeah, playing online can be a pain sometimes. My last online campaign almost didn’t happen because we had so many network problems. But we figured it out and it actually ended up being one of my favorites!

    This made me realize, the word "plot twist" says it already itself, a twist of the PLOT, it's in the name! A plot twist is different to a turn in the story.

    • @TheNPCDungeon
      @TheNPCDungeon Місяць тому

      Honestly, that’s a very succinct way of putting it. I also like to distinguish between things the dm does to add contrivances to the plot and things some dms do to confound the players. For example, having an NPC prisoner escape is always fun, but making sure that the players can’t find them is not. The first is a plot twist. The second is not. Not sure why that was on my mind, but bonus dm tip, I guess.

      I can’t tell you have often I used to forget important plot stuff and details (actually, I still do to this day). I try to bookmark all my notes so I have little markers to remind me what I need to say. I know some people also highlight and sticky note stuff like that to their dm screens. And even if I do forget something, I try to use the time between the current session and the next to adapt and modify the plot around it if I need to. Nothing in D&D is written in stone.

My character being the guy he is ( his whole bit is eating everything) ate him. My friend made a new character named Alfredo and he was a super old character who was Noodles teacher. We told Alfredo that Noodle lives in a new restaurant called my stomach and helps out there... extra note this only works if the game is story based and all i am in a campaign its more open world in a world the dm designed entirely there are good and bad entities but the party is just a part of the world not the hero's destined to save it or anything we as a party choose were to go and what to do.

    • @TheNPCDungeon
      @TheNPCDungeon 2 місяці тому

      Thanks for pointing that out. Most of my campaigns are very narrative-based, so a lot of what I say will be more geared in that direction. And in more open-world campaigns like the one you’re in, the DM has to pivot and adapt that much more to the unexpected, making sure that wherever they go or whatever they do, the party still encounters something related to whatever arc their doing or whatever they intend to do. Sounds like you have a great DM!

  • @benji3203
    @benji3203 2 місяці тому

    This is a challenge that DM’s face while playing dungeons and dragons. Good way to get around this is to properly flesh out the entire world or the area were it takes place. This is hard, but if your campaign pretty much stays inside a certain country, this is a lot easier to do.

    • @TheNPCDungeon
      @TheNPCDungeon 2 місяці тому

      I definitely agree. The more planning, the better. This is part of the reason why I’ve started running campaigns in more condensed settings lately. And more specifically, I try to plan not necessarily for any place the players may go to, but for any thing they may do, because even if you have every corner of the map filled in, there’s always the possibility of the unexpected. That way, I can take what I have and repurpose it in the spot as necessary. Great point!

  • @Elda.Handles

    Rewarding creativity: Instead of going to the dungeon to get the treasure, the characters return to the village to stock up on supplies. The market is crowded at this time, but perhaps because of some odd inkling of the gods your party overhears a party of shady characters talking about some kind of ritual and an evil terror without being exposed... ff... your decision to return either destroyed one town or another, either an evil cult succeeded in their ritual or the boss of the dungeon managed to unseal a treasure of immeasurable power unleashing a wave of monsters upon the unsuspecting town. Isn't it odd how a simple decision to, instead of challenging a dungeon, return for groceries has caused the fates of so many to change and suffer. For you see had you ventured into the depths, a party of like-minded adventurers would have found out about the cultist and stopped them.

    In a DnD setting we were trapped on an island. There was one guarded port and some ruins on top of the mountain. The DM wanted us to go to the ruins but of course no one of us wanted to go there. In our mind they were just ruins and the way to get off an island is ships so we went to the harbour. After two frustrating sessions of us not knowing what to do and he frustrated that we didn't want to check out the ruins we had an irl talk, cleared up the misunderstanding and the campaign continued.

    The fun of the heist mission is all in the planning phase. They should be able to have access to enough info to be able to make a plan that they feel will be perfect.
