How strong are those pins? Also how would corrosion from the sea water effect that pin mechanism? Also how do you know if all the pins made it into that groove?
Isaac, those pins are circumferential Dogs and are made from 690 MPa material. The mechanism is protected from corrosion by coating and CP of the overall system. The Conical mating profile of the Male and Female parts only allows engagement of the Dogs all at the same time.

Great animation! Out of curiosity, why is the name “high torque” included in HDHT if there is no torque applied to the connection?
I’m guessing it can resist high torsional loads?
