Yep, that's how world records work. Until someone else can go faster than a 39.9 in SCY, it's a WR. Just because your country doesn't swim SCY doesn't mean it's not still a WR. And he got the gold in 100m free at the olympics later in 2021, so...

Always amazing Caeleb. But there shouldn't be competitions in SCM or SCY. It looks ridiculous! These guys are way too fast for such a short distance and spend more time underwater than over.

@LanKIN_ Ur on crack if you think anyone outside of the US can beat that. In SCM, dressel is only a couple tenths off the world record with next to 0 experience in scm, 2 fastest other scm freestylers are vlad morozov (whose fastest was a 40.7) and amaury leveaux who went his time in a super suit
