I have been looking for this movie all my life, El Cid The Legend is pretty amazing especially set in medieval, I do love the animations as the movie truly reminds me like other favorite from Disney or DreamWorks like Mulan, The Prince Of Egypt, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, Aladdin, and The Road To El Dorado.
I'm gonna say this, Uracca looks pretty.

This movie seems to be on 2x speed. It’s a good story and good characters but it feels like everything is moving by so fast. In hindsight I think had they split it up into two movies and taken it a bit slower then it could have been better paced.
cuz the orignal language is either spanish or french. ever notice in Code Lyoko characters are talking super fast? same issue
@ it’s not just the talking. The pacing, the story and the character’s development seems to move by so fast I legit felt like I missed out on some key story telling at times.

@@itsjustvin7630 I only recognize Totally Spies and Winx Club and I’ve only seen the latter up to season 5. As for Winx Club, from what I have seen, I’m not gonna pretend it’s a 10/10 show, but I thought it was decent (though after season 3 I seriously started to dip and by season 5 I had to really push myself to finish it, hence why I gave up after that). That said it did have its flaws, but I’m wouldn’t say they’re really comparable to something like this. But that’s just me. As for the other things you mentioned: except for Totally Spies, which I’ve o Lu caught glimpses of and k ow next to nothing about, I don’t know what the other things you brought up are. So if they do also have the same problems I brought up as this movie then I can’t really confirm nor deny it.

Excellent background art direction, a lot of scenic shots in this really work; the voice acting was good (except for Ben his voice did NOT fit). The chungus body types are off putting at first but you get used to em, good sword choreography, good animation. Jimena is underused but she came in serious clutch, a lot of guts in that lady. No wallflowers here. And the theme of integrity was appreciated, a lot of allies and breakthroughs in this would not have been possible throughout if the seed of prejudice ruled the decision making of the protagonists & even other characters. In that sense this reminds me of "Kingdom of Heaven 2005", different beliefs but coexistence all the same. The worst part about this is the wonky editing transitions between scenes, most times cut too early and thus the sloppy pacing, the movie moves too fast at times and should've been given more backing thus more time to simmer & cook. But the fact that it's this solid given what it had to work with is impressive. It's not a long movie & it doesn't waste time, that's for damn sure. That duet in the end credits caught me off guard, that shit was awesome. Only thing that genuinely sucks about this is I didn't grow up watching it.

Great movie but the body proportions are just too odd for me lol. The tiny heads and hands but massively brawny chests and arms are so odd lol.

Reminiscent Prince of Egypt, Sinbad, King of Dreams, Road to Eldorado, Black Cauldron, Quest for Camelot--- all quality animation. The dudes built like chads and the women look like women, definitely not a post-modern flick. Early 2000s produced some bangers just before the dark times, just in time.
Is that Dunban's voice as Rodriguez? From Xenoblade 1? All in all this is quite the fast paced, rather bland, Dreamworks ripoff kind of adventure. The voices are strange, the arms too big, hands too small, movie too fast paced, and runtimw too short. Its charming to see how this was once a major motion picture at one point, what with that early 2000's music number at the end credits. Overall i didnt hate my time watching, but i doubt ill ever do it again. Really forgettable, slapped together movie.
Not to mention some of the character's neck are too big as well. Especially Jimena's. Too thick.

@@zero1zerolast393 english dub was considered lost media because for years no one uploaded it on internet. But english dub was always on dvd version of this movie, like in Polish edition that i have.

What is it with European animated films and how hasty everything is? From people speaking to how swiftly a scene flies by. Also, tiny hands!
budget, they have a long story they need to give out in a short time without costing too much. they would rather suffer from haste than a drop of animation quality

I'm not familiar with a lot of European animation films, but yeah, budget. Unlike with live action where you can more easily "act extra," cut and paste scenes to create a nice flow, with animation it'd be unnecessarily time consuming and costly to animate, color, clean and shade scenes you won't end up using. Big animation studios have more leeway to do that. They are more guaranteed to get their money's worth back. But a small studio where every decision is a risk... Gotta aim to make every shot count.

Gormaz was always disrespectful towards Rodrigo's father ( in original version of the duel they fight because Gormaz slapped Rodrigo's father) and he viewed el cid as a childish man who cant take any responsibility.

Underrated gem of a film! I'm always a big fan of medieval Dreamworks-like 2D animated movies.
58:40 saw this scene & searched the movie. Animation here reminds me of old 2D animation movies like Sinbad, Treasure Planet, The Iron Giant & others. Miss those old 2D animations. Far better than nowadays 3D animation I'd say. That dance outfit is really good. 100 outta 10. Thank you for this.
This movie was criminally underrated when it was relased. I really love how they animated it - very good blend of stylisation, amazing backgrounds, nice blend between 2D and 3D. This movie holds suprisingly well in most parts! Also i cant find better animation about knights, beautiful message about honor and doing good things despite everything.
Or the movie really was creator of road to El Dorado
Sinbad, Treasure Planet, The Iron Giant and even Titan AE

I love the movie
I remember this underrated animated movie. The legend of the real El Cid is bloodier and better than the movie, obviously. I suggest checking out the historical El Cid on your own.
@@aceknowledgable9403 i'm very familiar with real El Cid, i really like comparing his historical image with these romantic tales about honor etc. Sadly this cartoon is very short and did a lot of shortcuts but overall its a very good adaptation.
