Those bloody ducks would have had me shouting and hissing like a mad man, don’t know why I bother doing that cause they never bugger off unless they’ve had enough!

A true legend. It was watching Ian on the tv in the early eighties which inspired me and my mates to fish every day of the week, after school and up at 4.00am on a saturday and sunday, pinching all the bread in the house for bait. It was like serving an apprenticeship, listening to him and john wilson. It may be just nostalgia, but I can't help think we've lost a little bit of the magic, inventing our own groundbait mixes, with custard powder, hot chocolate, lemon grass, and crushed hemp which was boiled up in my mothers best pans. Coming up with secret methods to win a match!! What a laugh!! You can call fit to burn, but there's alot of pleasure to be gained ignoring the carp, and fishing light for silvers.

Looking back at these, Ian has a great manner for education and tv. I saw him in a few exhibitoins back in the days, and realise now why they stuck with me. Straight to the point, no repetition, makes everything simple, always adding new info. Makes me want to dig out his signature rods and get some nostalgia

Very informative video by one of the country's best ever anglers. How anyone can dislike the video I do not know - maybe stick to Love Island!? Great vid that has reminded me how to use bread with the float. 👍

Stumbled across this video by accident, great stuff from a great chap. It may be somewhat dated but there is still good stuff in it from an ex world champion. I have been fortunate enough to fish with/against Ian and mostly beaten by him, a class act.

I remember the early 80s, Ian came to fish my local pool called Himley Hall, and fantastic tench lake at the time, the hall had a yearly event called the Dudley show.He was representing DAM tackle and me and my 2 mates stayed with him all day watching him till dusk, wot a gentleman he was,he's let us fish his pole and gave us a signed dam cap,and we helped him carry his tackle back to his Lady estate car, thanks Ian you made our day for us young anglers watching a master class on the pole.
