We review and unbox the Sonos Five with a focus on use with a record player! We didn't expect for this purchase to take place, but after the Sonos S2 app release, we found our Sonos Amp incompatible. So we needed a Sonos Five to continue listening to vinyl with our Sonos system. Was it a blessing in disguise? How about if 2 speakers ?
My app lags bad .. I check my wifi speed and it’s blazing fast. This latest update sucks big d.
Nice job on the edit !
Thanks for the vid! I fell in love in Van City during first visit 3 months ago so much that I'm going back next month. Wrote down the food spots and can wait to try them out. Thanks again and looking forward to more content!
Do you know how the connection will be between two Sonos Move 2 (stereo pair) with the line in? The line in will connect to one speaker that pair with the other one to have stereo sound. The question is that connection is by wifi or bt? And the other quedtion is :it is real stereo with the correct separation or it is to stereo speakers playing the same? Thanks
I just went there this year 2023… I loved it but La freeways so horrible. Next time leaving at 4am..should be light out for those curvy roads!

do I need a preamplifier if I connect an audio device to the sonos 5?
i miss my dog. me & my dog was our song
I’m pretty anti la I just hate that whole area but damn if this isn’t amazing! Don’t get me wrong I love old la and old stories but old la todays la is not. Thanks for making this video super cool! Seem like good people keep it up
Hiw do I connect to make it stereo sound .
Could you recommend a cd player to use with my somos? Currently running a Bose wave with changer into my play 5 but it just stopped working. Should I just get a new one or is there a more quality option?
Thanks for the beautiful video! Can you please share the link of that gorgeous cabin that you get on Air bnb?
For everybody looking to play vinyl over their existing Sonos setup, the cheapest way to do so is with the second generation Sonos Connect. Bought mine used for $50. It's compatible with both the S1 and S2 app.
How come they all say the connect only works at S1 app?
@@Suriprofz Probably talking about the first gen Connect. There is a second gen. Mine works flawless.
After doing some research (your video was very helpful!) I think this is the speaker that I want. What I'm looking for is high quality wireless audio for now, with the option to hook up a turntable if I want to later. Seems like this is exactly what I'm looking for.
That Julien Baker record! ❤🤘
Been wanting to get my turntable to work with my arc, thanks for this recommendation. I like it better than just buying a port. Btw little oblivions is one of the best
If I were to buy the turntable set from sonos: the five speaker and pro-ject t1 phono sb turntable would I need to buy any other equipment for example an amp or any other speakers?
Useful video! Question: I have a five and want to buy a record player, and I am wondering if your record player has a built in amp. As in I will need to buy a record player + amp or just a record player. Just because my dad was saying that five should be compatible with record player without an amplifier or something haha thanks!!
It is necessary just to have built in pre-amp in your record player and then connect it directly to five
I have this speaker and I think the true sound feature takes a lot of bass away
How does one acquire an invite to pasta night?
I just purchased a Yamaha TTS303B turntable and didn’t realise it isn’t just plug n play. I have a Sonos Arc and a sub3. Can you please let me know how I can set up to play through my Arc? Or have I just wasted a heap of money 😩
Does the Arc have a line-in? If so, and your Yamaha has a built-in preamp, you should be able to connect with a stereo cable. Your setup is going to rock once it's fully online!
Lol at times. Good editing.
Great vid, editing, funnies but why no real people
Curious to know whether you went with one or two Fives. Video only shows one, and it shows you've placed it vertically. From what I've seen, that "shuts off" the "stereo" should and moves it to mono for true stereo pairing. Now, I'm no audiophile, so I'm not bringing this up to be critical in any way. My real question behind the question is whether you're happy with the sound of a single Five? Are you considering a second one as a later upgrade? I think one would be OK for me, but I also know me, and would wonder what I'm missing with the pair, especially when playing vinyl. Thanks, and great vid!
A little late here, but the one Sonos Five has been fantastic. Our space didn't really call for more than one, but if we had a really big living room, I'd think about getting a second one so we could play them in stereo. For us, we had Ones for our stereo playback when watching movies, and with music we'd play our whole system (several Ones and a Three) with the Five up the loudest. I think we overdo it, though. When we play the Five solo, it's perfectly adequate.
To answer record player questions. Once your record player is playing with the play five you then can group it with any other Sonos player throughout your entire system meaning you can play it around your house everywhere
yup
You could’ve got a generation to connect and not spend the money on the play five
Can anyone help I have a sonos arc with sub and two sl and a Bluetooth turntable but can't connect
Only Sonos Era100, Era 300, Move and Roam are bluetooth capable. Your set are not support bluetooth connection, so you need to. add either one of mentioned earlier or a Sonos port to connect with the turntable.
I wanted to play vinyl to all my Sonos speakers. But I just bought a Bluetooth compatible record player (Sony ps-l310bt). Then I just connected it with the Roam, as it allows Bluetooth connection. Then I just grouped that with the rest of the speakers. I found this was the cheapest method of connecting a turntable to your current ecosystem
This is a pretty good alternative if you have the Roam. Honestly might recommend this hack going forward!
Do you think its necessary to get a two pair of these for a vinyl player set up? Or one is sufficient enough and I won't notice a huge difference?
One Sonos Five sounds great. But if you want that stereo separation, more bass and a bit more punch then 2 Fives is the way to go.
I wanna buy a turn table to play vinyl via a preamp on two play 5 (2 nd gen) speakers set on stereo and I was wondering if the line in mode keep the sound analog 🤔
Yes, it just the record player just need a built pre-AMP or you need separate pre-AMP if not built in.
If you're playing the vinyl record in your living room speaker, are you able to hear it on other speakers throughout the house, or is that ONLY for streaming platforms? Thank you!
Yes, you can hear it throughout the house.
You mind sharing the air bnb link?
Hi there! how are you? I would like to see if you can help me, how could I connect a pair of sonos play 5 to a turntable, do I need both speakers to be connected with cables to the turntable?
No just one speaker
MAGA??? Maybe my cc is broke.
I’m 15th sub! It’ll be 15k quick. Really nice vid overall from narration to editing. Looking forward to seeing more.
Thank you so much! Looking forward to creating much, much more!
Reckon I'd be able to hook a sonos five to my old existing receiver and Onkyo turn table via appropriate cords?
Haven't tried that specific setup, but I believe you would need a Sonos Port first. This is another one of their products that's designed to connect all your stereo components to the Sonos system. Check it out here: www.sonos.com/en-us/shop/port.html
@@ginandvinyl Hmm surely it would work if my receiver has the built in phono, I'll have to try this out in a few days when my five arrives and let you know! If not, I guess Ill just grab the port
@@leigh3850 Yes! Please keep us posted. Will be good to know if we expand into some non-Sonos speakers in the future :)
What an amazing destination! ☺️
