Flame Strike is the best Basic. Pound for pound. It's versatile by having a charge, which stuns enemies, it does decent damage, has great range for a melee, and is very fast. Spark Contact is utter trash compared to it, doing only 2 damage per hit, and since you're spending more time throwing hands (or sparks rather), you're at risk of getting hit. Na son. Flame Strike. Nothing else fulfills all of those roles.

It's interesting to see how low you've ranked a number of signatures that I have a lot of playtime with. I've actually played quite a bit with Blurring Falconry and Volt Pinball. I suspect this comes from valuing combo and damage over activation time and cool down, factors that seem important when looping the dungeon more than once or playing with modifiers. When it comes to that I'll be fair and mention that I do play a lot of games with either Chaotic Comedy, Rules of Contingency, or Chaotic Pendulum these days, but I've done my fair share of runs without them. Gust volley is an all star with the first of these or with Retro Floor Plan, though it's perhaps better as a secondary with frost fan as the signature in the latter. Dragon Surge can stack a lot of hits with the right setup, but a lot of its utility lies elsewhere. It excels in pushing enemies into pits while out of line of sight or through walls, it has low activation time, and while it's much better aimed it can be deployed like an agent when needed. Finally if you stack enough cool down you can keep a bunch of dragons on screen concurrently even without signature charge. You might be able to do something better with all that cool down, namely some kind of combo, but it's a relatively safe option and good fun. Anyway I'm not necessarily attempting to claim that your ordering is incorrect. I too enjoy a good ice spear or the combo potential of frost scimitar.

Riptides underrated. It doesnt do great damage, but its for sure one of the best basics at enemy control. Also does really well against projectiles especially when enhanced

Hi there! New to the game here, your opinion is a great help I believe. I found myself using water spells almost everytime, don’t know really why but they look awesome and are pretty damn useful. Don’t really care if you base your tierlist by your opinion, I mean is UA-cam, whoever thinks can do it better should do it and stop making a fuss about such a video. Although, I do think you should script your videos, at least three items per spell, such as: strengths, weaknesses and utility with your personal opinion of course. Your channel is one of the few who is dedicated to this game entirely and I really appreciate it. Or maybe split the video per element, it was really messy looking up for specific spells in this tierlist. This is a no hate opinion!

Severing Slash is underrated, especially with a crit build

level increases your stats the more you kill (up to a 75% if you get robe upgrade)

There's a relic of a cloud painting that for each air arcana unlocked adds a chance to not consume a dash charge, this with the chaos conjurer dash can get multiple props in quick succession filling an entire room.

The really crazy thing when it comes to the Awe robe is actually the amount of lifesteal you get with vampire's eyeglasses imo. I feel like that with an "aura of death" type build lets you play the game without having to think about anything. The fact that you heal so much also makes it such an easy decision to get the robe upgrade if you find it in the run. And with the way crit chance + damage scales multiplicatively with each other, +15 crit chance and +35 (!!!!!) crit damage is absolutely unfair

One extra note about Savils robe, if you come across him in the trials and try to upgrade your robe, it will revert it to an upgraded version of whatever robe you originally equipped, it will not upgrade savils robe and has actually ended runs for me when I accidentally upgraded level near the end of the game.

Just got into the game and I’ve been having a lot of fun with Tearing Whirlwind + Lightning Aspect. You apply the on-hit twice per second so you just become a blender. If I can get Berserk it’s pretty great - blend the regular enemies and Berserk the bosses

A lot of this information is heavily opinionated, these arcana are ranked very poorly with respect to each other, notably stuff like fireball being so high up and magnetic follow up, dragon surge, shock assault, and many others being so low, please update this when you put more hours in the game and new players will probably come looking for this
