Why Modern Food Is Killing Us

Did you know that federal food law bans any poisonous or deleterious substance that could harm our health? While regulators often focus on toxins like Listeria and salmonella, which cause acute illness, the real threat lies in chronic food-related illnesses like obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Shockingly, these illnesses claim around 1,600 American lives daily, surpassing the comb...

    I don't know if you ever got an answer to your question but jelly jars normally are for jelly/jam canning which is water bath canning for me. I highly recommend purchasing the USDA book on canning. Or the book Stocking Up. No guessing just facts. Full of priceless information. No guessing, no speculation just facts.

    We just split a quarter with another family (not from this farm) and I feel like it's not worth it. Why am i paying for hanging weight of 120 lbs when we barely got 60 lbs of meat total. It ended up being much more expensive than the grocery store and we will not being doing this again.

    Do you have to figure more time into it? Won’t the first 10 minutes or so be just thawing? Or does the heat kill the frozen microorganisms just as fast as room temp microorganisms? Dont we have to at least assume that the heat needs time to penetrate the meat for the microorganisms that are inside and not just on the surface?

    One big difference is TASTE. Grassfed has a VERY rich and creamy flavor compared to conventional mill and even non-grassfed organic milk.

    I actually just started eating grass fed beef and made a burger…I haven’t had beef in 6 years. When I ate the burger I noticed a strong beef taste and to be honest it threw me off. The next day I made a Mexican rice bowl and noticed the same strong taste. Am I crazy or am I cooking it wrong. Today I went to Mooya to get a burger for research purposes and it’s the taste I remember from when I made my own burgers. How do cook the burgers to get that burger taste? LOL, I promise I’m not trolling. I was vegan for 6 years and just started eating beef and fish. The grass fed steak tasted fine but the ground beef was strong to me. Any suggestions?

    I bought a gallon of raw milk and poured off a pint to clabber. Its been on my counter in a clean jar for almost 7 days. Its not anywhere close to looking like yours. The whey is on the bottom and the solids have separated and are grainy on the top. It looks more like spoiled pasteurized milk. Did I do something wrong?

    • @vincentmaloney5835
      @vincentmaloney5835 2 місяці тому

      Keep part of your clabbered milk in the refrigerator. You can keep it in the fridge for a long time. When you buy raw milk again, mix it with this refrigerated portion (starter). It will speed up the fermentation. Leave this mixture in the room temperature for 2 days. This time your clabbered milk will be much better than when you made it first time. Keep refrigerated.

    The rbst argument is misleading. It's not typically used in conventional farming anymore, and hasn't been for years. The drug is literally not even promoted in the US,the company that produces it, is almost entirely focused on the market in India (which is awful). I'm totally a supporter of organic dairy and especially grass fed, but get your facts straight

    So glad to have found you….I bought raw milk in a plastic jug with the intention of making mozzarella cheese with it, but got very busy with a project and forgot the milk in the fridge. It’s been there for 2 months! It’s completely separated into curds and whey. I haven’t opened the jug to smell it. Will it be detrimental to use it for baking or making some kind of cheese? I hate wasting food and would be so grateful for advice. If I have to throw it out because of pathogens, then I will….Many thanks x

    I got to the farmers' market with my own jars handwashed with dish soap. Milk usually stays good for 4 or 5 days, which is good. My hand barely fits in a TO-82 mouth. To loosen the dried milk between the threads, soak the jar in a small bowl for short time. I would not use a scrubber on lids to avoid scratching them.

    Some false info that needs correcting: 1.conventional AND "organic" labeled milk products may both use antibiotics on the cow at some point, should she get sick. However, neither product is allowed to have antibiotics present down to an extremely low threshold (www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/antibioticresistance/animal/truthmilk.pdf). 2. growth hormones are NOT approved for use in DAIRY cows (www.fda.gov/animal-veterinary/product-safety-information/steroid-hormone-implants-used-growth-food-producing-animals).

    I have a batch of raw milk that I've had in fridge until two days ago. When I took out of fridge and left on counter. The thing that is confusing me is, the whey is at the bottom of container and thick creamy at top. Smells sour but not bad. Is this clabber?

    • @vincentmaloney5835
      @vincentmaloney5835 2 місяці тому

      Yes, it is. You can keep it forever in the fridge. You can use it as a "starter" when you decide to make clabber again. The second time it will turn out much better.
