**Chana Daal Recipe with Paratha - Simple & Delicious**
Welcome back to our mini cooking channel! Today, we’re making a wholesome and flavorful **Chana Daal** paired with crispy, soft **Paratha**-a perfect combination for a hearty meal. Let’s dive in!
### **Chana Daal Ingredients:**
- 1 cup **Chana Daal (split chickpeas)**
- 1 medium-sized **onion**, finely chopped
- 1-2 **green chilies**, chopped (optional)
- 1 medium-sized **tomato**, chopped
- 1 tsp **ginger-garlic paste**
- 1 tsp **turmeric powder**
- 1 tsp **cumin seeds**
- 1 tsp **coriander powder**
- 1 tsp **garam masala**
- ½ tsp **red chili powder**
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp **oil or ghee**
- Fresh **cilantro** for garnish
- Water as needed
### **Paratha Ingredients:**
- 1 cup **whole wheat flour**
- Water (as needed to form a dough)
- 1 tbsp **oil** or ghee (optional, for softer parathas)
- Salt to taste
### **Method:**
#### **For Chana Daal:**
1. **Rinse the Daal:** Wash the chana daal under running water. Soak it in water for about 30 minutes to soften it (optional but helps cook faster).
2. **Cook the Daal:** In a pressure cooker, add the soaked daal with 3 cups of water. Cook for about 3-4 whistles or until soft and tender. If using a pot, simmer for about 25-30 minutes until the daal is cooked through.
3. **Prepare the Tadka:** While the daal cooks, heat oil or ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add finely chopped onions and cook until golden brown. Stir in ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté for another minute.
4. **Add Spices & Tomatoes:** Add the chopped tomatoes, turmeric, coriander powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes soften and the oil starts separating from the masala (spice mixture).
5. **Combine:** Once the daal is cooked, add it to the pan with the tadka. Stir well and simmer for another 5-10 minutes to blend the flavors. Adjust consistency by adding water if needed.
6. **Finish with Garam Masala:** Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh cilantro. Your delicious Chana Daal is ready!
#### **For Paratha:**
1. **Make the Dough:** In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour, salt, and oil (if using). Gradually add water to form a smooth, soft dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
2. **Roll the Parathas:** Divide the dough into small balls. Roll each ball into a flat, round disc, dusting with flour as needed to prevent sticking. Aim for a 6-8 inch diameter.
3. **Cook the Paratha:** Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat. Place the rolled paratha on the hot tawa. Cook until you see bubbles, then flip and apply a little oil or ghee. Flip again and press gently to ensure it cooks evenly. Repeat with the remaining dough.
4. **Serve:** Stack the parathas in a clean cloth to keep them warm and soft.
### **Serving:**
Serve your warm **Chana Daal** with crispy, soft **Paratha**. Enjoy this comforting and nutritious meal as a perfect lunch or dinner!
