    Insane speed and precision that close to the ground, not to mention the wind - very impressive, indeed! Great flying! Is this a stock 6S Vulcan, or did you tweak it? HV pack maybe?

    • @RCDougNSN
      @RCDougNSN 8 днів тому

      Thanks for the kind words! The speed and precision were incredible, especially that close to the ground in windy conditions. I was actually having trouble keeping up with it while filming! I believe it’s mostly stock 6S, except for a larger capacity battery, which required some minor mods to the fuselage for CG adjustment. Be sure to check out the pilot’s UA-cam channel at www.youtube.com/@AJHewson1 -he’s an exceptional pilot!

    Hi Doug - could you share the details on how you modified the GP F4 to fly with the Kingtech turbine? Which turbine, installation, mods, etc. Than k you.

      @RCDougNSN Місяць тому

      "Hi! Thanks for your interest. Next time it’s out flying, I’ll make sure to capture some video of the setup for you. The basics are: the fuel tank is over the wing, with the radio and batteries up front for balance. The turbine is a Kingtech K-60, mounted just behind the main wing's trailing edge. There’s no thrust tube, and the bottom is open for airflow. One crucial detail-you’ll need to run steel cables to the tail surfaces, even with metal heat shielding in place. Hope that helps in the meantime! ua-cam.com/video/cT7gKPL-cUg/v-deo.html"

    Good landing considering it looked like it was pretty windy that day. At least it stopped upright on both wheels, right? Nice looking Stick. I've got 4 different variations of the Stick family, all nitro powered. With the price of fuel, I may go to gas powered. I still can't see myself flying an electric plane.

    • @RCDougNSN
      @RCDougNSN Місяць тому

      Thanks! The wind was tricky and made it a bit of a challenge! The Stick family is such a classic-having four variations must be a ton of fun. Gas could be a solid alternative with fuel prices these days. Totally understand preferring nitro or gas over electric; it’s hard to beat that authentic RC feel!

I started to black out my canopy like yours. Also have a bigger tank for more flight time. Hoping the maiden goes well. Also had to widen the wheel well, gear was hanging up cause the wheel doesn't sit center in the wheel well. Nice flight.

    Ha Ha Ha!! As the video started I was looking at the size of that plane and thinking to myself "What size engine does he have? It looks like it would fly just fine on a 0.25... maybe even a 0.15. " Then I looked at the notes and almost screamed... 0.46 OS AX !!!! Then I saw it fly.... and said to myself... ya, NO WAY you could have THAT much fun with a .25 or 0.15 on it. I got into this in the 1970's.... some things never change!!!!! The general rule in R/C when it comes to engine size has been and continues to be "Well, what can I get away with?" Ha Ha Ha. Enjoy!

    • @RCDougNSN
      @RCDougNSN 7 місяців тому

      Haha, glad you enjoyed it! Yes, the 0.46 OS AX really brings the plane to life, but it was designed around a 0.45 size motor back in 1983. It's amazing how much fun you can have with the right engine. The old rule of 'What can I get away with?' definitely still applies. Thanks for the nostalgic comment and for watching!

    Doug, can I suggest you watch Michael Wargo's videos on landing turbine jets. They are very informative, the main thing you will see, and it works for everyone, is get the jet low a long way out and fly it all the way (under some power) to the threshold and then just hold it off the ground as long as u can until it just touches down gently. Always use at least take-off flaps (if not full flaps) when you land, depending on head wind and the way the jet glides. Good luck and BTW, nice jet, and doesn't an MB339 fly like a dream.

    • @RCDougNSN
      @RCDougNSN 8 місяців тому

This video shows a bit of the component placements ua-cam.com/video/WXXRz4RBDEE/v-deo.htmlsi=WOLNqD1_g3UTKGJA . I believe it is flown at the factory CG with minimal fine tuning.
