This is a really , really good video , very informative ! Now , I feel more comfortable while preparing my very first trip to Rome . Thanks a lot !
@@jankaant Thank you for the appreciation! Enjoy Rome! ❤️
@@goneonvacation I will !
In the process of relocating and these tips will be valuable. Merci Beaucoup!
Can two or three people use one ticket, or does everyone need their own?
@@ajna-g8f everyone needs their own 😊
PLEASE READ THIS ROME BUS TRAP, AND SPREAD IT! On 12 Oct 2024, we bought 4 bus tickets from a tabacchi before getting on the bus, afterwards, we got on the bus from the middle door and we were walking to the ticket validating machine in the crowded bus, it is full of people but we were trying our best to move to the ticket validating machine, at the same time, the inspector stopped us from validating the tickets and claimed that we didn't stamp the tickets, we explained to the inspector many times but the police didn't listen to us, and the inspector insists to give 4 of us a fine of EUR 54.9. We are innocent and we promise that we were really approaching the ticket validating machine in the fully packed bus, therefore, I hope you can understand our situation. To us, it is a kind of nightmare and it is shame of Italy, I hope no more tourists will fall into this trap which is innocent and ridiculous.
@@Alison-rw5fd I am so sorry this happened to you. I think this happens to tourists all the time. 😔
@ yes this is not reasonable, I hope some UA-camrs can help to spread this message to all tourists to avoid such innocent trap
@@Alison-rw5fd if you ever travel by train in Italy, be aware that reggio train tickets must be validated - another "trick" they use to get tourists. And for the future in Rome, I recommend you get a pass for a few days, that only has to be validated on the first ride.
Hi, thank you for the informative video. Just a quick question. Can I use a contactless card while travelling on buses?
Hi! There are no contactless machines on buses, but you can buy tickets from the driver. But they don't have the tap&go system you find in other places. 😊
@@goneonvacation Ah! Thanks a bunch!
is public transport available in fiumicino airport & can i buy a daily pass in fiumicino airport to go rome and come back to airport again?
@@tanvirhasan5342 Hi! Fiumicino is not connected to Rome by public transport. You can take the trains, or the shuttles. Both will leave you at Termini station in Rome, where you will find the ticket machines. 😊
@@goneonvacation Thanks
Nice Video. For contactless credit card, do i need also to tap out when i exit bus or tram? Or i just need to tap in 1 time when i enter? Thanks
@@adityawijanarko6746 Just one time when you enter 😁

@@_ariyan_17_ There should be a red button on a metal handle. Press that to let the driver know you want to get off at the next station. 😊
@@goneonvacationOk thank you so much
This provided us much needed clarity after not being sure we did everything right after taking the metro and bus after arriving. The validation of the 48h ticket confused us the most. Very informative video

Hiii Can you please tell me where I can buy tickets with english guide to the vatican museum, Sistine Chapel and galleria borghese in Rome for an affordable price? ❤
Hi! Hi. How to buy bus tickets when we are group of people and having just one credit card?
@@AlmirTaranis You can't use this machine for all, so you will have to get tickets from the ticket machines. 😊
How do you prove you paid if the ticket validators come around?
@@emrej2527 You will show the card you paid with, and they have a list with the transactions on the machines. 😊

I couldn't find the month pass ticket on the app.
@@nouralsatari6424 Hey! In the app, under tickets, you have tickets/passes. To buy a monthly pass, you go to passes, complete your profile, and you will see a green plus in the right, where you have the option to purchase a pass. That's where you find the monthly pass. 😊

I assume "safe" doesn't account for pickpockets.
Actually, most tourists are not using public transportation, so you are more likely to get your wallet stolen in Piazza Navona, than at the metro. Still, if you watch your belongings, you should be safe everywhere in Rome. Keep your hand on your purse in crowded areas, don't have your phone on the table or in a side pocket, and be aware of your surroundings. Don't carry a lot of cash, and leave your passports in the hotel safe. And if someone randomly initiates a conversation with you, ignore them and walk away. If you are just a little careful, you will be ok. 😊 Enjoy your vacation!
@@goneonvacation Many tourists use public transportation. I did, my friend did. We did pretty much what you are suggesting here - all good advice, and avoided being pickpocketed. So far. In general, one should be careful everywhere - metro, bus, Leonardo Express train, train stations as well as everywhere, especially those most visited by tourists. In terms of not carrying cash or passport - this works most of the time, but you cannot avoid when you travel to/from the airport. It's important to be extra careful then and not have too many suitcases. Not more than you can easily keep track of.
@@jewelmarkess I'm glad to hear that! 😁 What I meant is that the metro isn't as filled with tourists as the area surrounding Fontana di Trevi, for example, where you can barely move. - I was more worried there than on a bus. 😊 I agree, be careful and try to enjoy your trip, too! ❤️
@@goneonvacation This is true.
Thank you so much for the video! If we want to visit the museums, how can we buy affordable tickets? We are 4 persons ❤
@@ZalikhaOusou 😊 If you want to visit museums, you will have to buy the tickets in advance, as they sell out weeks in advance. You will find tickets on the official websites (which have the best prices, but also sell out the fastest), but also at resellers like Viator, Getyourguide and others. So, if you have the time and patience, I recommend buying your tickets on the official websites. Here they are: /www.coopculture.it/ for the Colosseum, m.museivaticani.va/ for the Vatican Museums, www.tosc.it/en/artist/galleria-borghese/galleria-borghese-2253937/ and I think this is the one for Galleria Borghese 😊 These are the ones you must buy in advance. For someone who has never used public transit and will be visiting Prague, this video was very helpful! Thank you. 🙏
@@Smucko1 🤗 I am glad it helped! Enjoy Prague! 🥳
One tip - check the terminal station of the tram/bus/metro to make sure you are waiting at the correct side of the street/platform. The terminal station is written on the schedule at the stop and on the tram/bus right next to the number.
@@afiiik1 thanks! Would never have known that. Maybe I need to hire someone to give me a crash course, join me on a couple routes. Lol Will be there for a week, wouldn’t want to waste time trying to figure out transit.
@Smucko1 I know the feeling. I'm from a small town and when I moved to a city with public transport I was constantly taking the tram that was going the wrong way. Each station has its twin on the other side and the tram or bus on that side goes in the direction of trafic(we drive on the right). So let's say you want to get on line number 2 which runs from Blue Station to Red Station. You are on Magenta Square and you need to go to Purple Street. So you look at the line number two schedule at magenta square and see that Purple Street is between Magenta Square and Blue Station therefore you need a tram that goes to Blue Station. You can see the direction in the schedule and on the tram.

I am confused with the validation for a 72 hr pass. So I need to get the ticket validated only Once on the bus system on my entire 3 day trip but need to have the ticket validated EVERY time i enter the Metro? Thank you.
Hi! Yes. So, when you validate it the first time, your pass becomes active. You don't need to validate on each trip - but to enter the metro, you will need to scan it, to open the turnstiles. On the bus, it's not necessary to scan it every time, once it's activated, you're good. I hope I explained this well. :) Enjoy Rome!

@@_grazygyt_1467 I think here is your answer: www.atac.roma.it/en/frequently-asked-questions/how-is-the-ticket-price-calculated-with-tap-go
If you purchase more than four 100-minute BITs within 24 hours, at the fifth BIT purchase, the "best fare” feature will be activated and you will be charged a 24-hour Roma ticket for € 7, which is cheaper than five or more BIT tickets. Hello!!! Thank you for the video. Very informative. Is Uber/lyft available in Rome? For the taxi, is it more $$ than the fares listed above for a group of 6 people since we’ll likely need a bigger car?
Hi, thank you for your comment! In Rome, only Uber Black is available and no Lyft. For 6 people it's probably more expensive, and you'll probably take longer to find a car. You can use the Free Now app to request taxis, and ask for cars that can fit six 😊 Enjoy Rome! 🥳

Is there a high risk of pickpocketing during the tourist season in Rome's public transport? How safe and crowded are the metro lines outside of the tourist season? Are the buses and trams safer than the metro? How reliable are the tram lines?
Hi! As long as you're careful and aware regarding your belongings, you're safe everywhere. 😁 Some tips: keep a hand on your purse, don't leave your backpack unattended, as you would in any other crowded city. Avoid talking to flower/bracelet guys, as they can get annoying, even aggressive. The metro is safe, and so are buses and trams, but a lot more crowded. Buses are the least reliable, but it depends on the area. In the center, buses come every few minutes, so you won't have to wait a lot. However, outside the city center, you can't count on them. The least crowded and most reliable is the metro, because trains come every few minutes. 😊
Hi, if you buy a weekly pass with unlimited trips, you said it only needs to be validated once. Do you mean once throughout the 7 days spent in Rome and using the buses?
Hi! The weekly ticket starts being valid the first time you validate it. So, you validate it on your first trip, and then you have 7 days of unlimited trips, on all public transportation means. After that first validation, it's not necessary to validate it again when riding the bus. However, on the metro, you still need to scan it every time, in order to open the turnstiles. I hope I've explained it well 😊 I am here if you have any more questions 👍 Enjoy Rome!
0:52, What, you don't eat Italian ice cream? Do you eat Italian ice cream?
😅 I do like gelato. The other sweets were too sweet for me, though.
Okay I see.
6:38, Is that universal power outlet (international adapter) or different outlet? (similar to Amsterdam, Athens, Belgrade, Budapest, they have almost the same plug as Rome, not international adapter.) But were flying to Copenhagen, stay for a few days, before flying or take a bus to Hamburg, Berlin, Warsaw, Krakow, Bucharest and Istanbul or Helsinki for vacation.
It is type C/F, the same used in all the European cities you've mentioned. You need an adapter that has two round pins 😊 In the train, there is also a USB port to charge your phone, if you have that kind of a wire. Your trip sounds amazing!!
