Ah, North Downs, the only map i did distaste a bit, specially because of the lack of a more conclusive storyline. Dont get me wrong, but after Lones Lands ans all the Garrh Agarwen sub plot i was expectting a big battle ate Esteldin; they ve been promissing that Angmar would soon unleash war, a war we dojt get quite to see on Bree.... Also i was kinda lost when i Fornost NOT BEING related at all to the epic quesliine, your presence there is optional and almost acidental. The First time in the game where epic ans landscape dont blend together 😢 But, yes, the ATMOSPHERE was also a great deal in my distaste. Everything there seems so EMPTY, DEAD abs EERIE. Its funny, but i felt more LONELY at North Downs than at LONE lands 😂 The best creepy music on this game i think (i also like the Dark Door theme),now i like going back there just to listen to it. Idk about you guys, but the atmosphere of North Downs, to me, is strongly linked to the spiritual ruin of the north, more than the physical debris, you can sense that the Witch Kings legacy of Shadow and desth still lingers and haunts the land, full of ghosts of disloyal soldiers. Its just like Eregion for an elf, a place where GOOD FAILLED and EVIL left a scar. I still thunk that much of the creepy vibe comes from one being SO CLOSE to ANGMAR, wich, in this game, is still alive.

Ambient synth stuff like this isn't too common in the game! I remember really enjoying this the first time I went in there...

Is there a chance for any new compilations before the end of this year? I am particularly looking for Norcrofts, where I am unable to identify the smaller pieces on my own. I feel like that would be a more valuable addition than trying to process the new expansion music, for which we receive official releases anyway.

I will NEVER understand why didnt the DEVS re-utilise these tracks in any other maps of Rohan, i cant forgive them for it. It makes nos ense at all because, after sutcrofts, we get REPETITIONS from tracks heard on Norcrofts, Sutcrofts, Entwise Vale, and The Wall all across Western Rohan, from Edoras to Helms Deep, from Aldburg to as near as Entwood. And its unforgiving because this was our heartfelt introdutction to ROHAN, the Wall was just part of the epics, a doorway; but the true experience from Rohan we got LEARNING TO RIDE at HARWICK (how i love that simple town) and seeing EORLS GRAVE under the sunset (greatest picture of Rohan id say). In my opinion we should have hear this theme repeat itself at Kingstead, because Edoras gives you the same Welcoming vibe as Harwick, and it recapitulates all that Rohan was. Even Blackroot Vale in Gondor had themes from Rohan. So sad bro!. Sad that people undermine the Wold and forget it later on when they reminesce abour Rohan.

Every time I hear Caves 05 it reminds me of The Witcher 1 as well (along with Evendim stuff). I'm not a big fan of Stephen DiGregorio's music, but these are probably his best tracks. It's interesting how a properly chosen samples can improve the atmosphere of the game.

Evendim 02 makes me feel nostalgic for The Witcher 1. Possibly both games share the same sample libraries that Pawel Blaszczak also used for TW1 back in 2007.

Im proud to carry the title Warden of Annuminas with me to every place in the game. Ill miss my lazy strolls arround the lake, and then....GWINDETH 😍🥰😍🥰 (She should be mine, not Calenglads👿).

I noticed two things about this ost. First: thr Paths of thr Dead 1, somehow, has a VERY SIMILAR melody to that of ANCESTRAL HALLS that plays for Dwarves during their prologue instance. Curious, because the first is from Di Gregorio, and the second is from Chance Thomas. But they REALLY sound almost like the same, only in different tempos. When i was on Dimholt it happened many times that i found myself singing the melody of Ancestral Halls, wich is one of those great but only used ONCE trakcs of this game. Second: I just love how sad those themes (Paths 1 ans 2) tie together to something only Silmarillion readers know and feel: that the EDAINS are the saddest of all races, the one that is doomed to a melancholic afterlife, wich is what i think everyone sees when they get inside Dimholt, a image of the afterlife for men. Its so pityfull and down 😢 Amazing theme creation they did.

I finally found one of my favorite songs in the game... and its called "Moria General 08"... how inspiring.

Do you have that eerie Theme that plays ONLY when Youre facing the Dark Door from Dunharrow? It was Really sinister. Maybe the scariest thing i ever Heard on this game. Never thought that the Barros Downs would Fall behind anything. Yet, IT unsettles you like Hell, and the sounds effects make It worse

All the themes from the game are excellent for working on the pc/office, specially those that are Ambient and less the combat and rushing ones. But THIS one is extremely unwelcome and disheartening to listen to 😆. Makes it all the worst something that is already "painfull" (working) 🤣

I just love the good old days of undead adventuring, it saddens me that this kind of scenario and mob was kinda left behind in the game (cant say for Mians Morgul yet because im on Rohan). They never again made interesting and thrilling places where you fight the wights amidts some story of the past and good intances and barrow interiors like in Barrow Downs and Garth Agarwen. Its as if they treated it like "oh, we alread know that, the player had his introduction to the them: now its more of the same and we progress to other races and mobs creation." And we have so many tombs during the game, even in Rohan and Ost Dunnoth. It was disapointing when i went to Imlad Balcoth in Angmar and it was all disperse mobing and questing, without interiors and instances. Specially because thats suposed to be the birthplace of the Wight crisis on Middle Earth; the spirits that haunt the Barrow Downs came from Angmar. Except for Féndur, that was a bit lame for me.

When i started playing Lotro i was 14 y old and i lived next to a park in my city that had big and dense vegetation, a trail and a lake (it was one quarter away from my apartment), and in that neighboorhood, where the park confines ended we had a big cemitery in the main avenue that was set upon a hill; in fact, both the park and the morgue were upon a hill. So when i went out to stroll by nightfall after playing the game and for eating a chessburger with family, IT REALLY felt like i had just left the Old Forest and the Barrow downs in the computer to VISIT IT AGAIN in real life. It was creepy and fun 🤣. Kids should love this game for that.

/Enter Craft Hall in Combe /spend 3 hours to learn each crafting: /open tool box /open material crate / select recipe / fabric the wrong item /mission failled /go back and try again after the 5 mins cooldown of quest abandon /do it right Suffer from severe indecision and spend another 3 houres trying to pick your vocation. Good old bad memories 😆

Still my favorite part of LOTRO to this day, so much led up to this battle!

I remember when I first played through the Battle of the Pelennor Fields in LOTRO. I was really hoping the game didn't screw it up as it's such a pivotal scene in the book, and of course the excellent interpretation in the movies meant that there was a lot riding on it (if you'll pardon the pun). But the moment I got into the first battle instance and the music started up, I could feel the hairs go up on the back of my neck. It perfectly summed up the magnitude of the occasion - that this was a massive part of what the game had been building up to over the course of the (then) nine years the game had been running. It made me feel that I was playing a key role in the survival of NPCs I'd come to know over the years, and of course it also meant a sad farewell to some that had been in the game since the very beginning. They really took care to ensure this part of the game exceeded expectations and the music was a huge part of that success.

Strange How i never checked out to leave a comment here, after all, this is my fav Place in this game, Maybe because of the good Memories from 12 years Ago and for the others i collected playing after returning until now. This Place LEFT such an impression on me, and i must confirm what i Felt on the First time there even after coming as far as to Helms Deep now: THE MOST MEMORABLE and ICONIC Place of the game, probably Because ITS the FIRST area out of the Starter zones and the last map a F2P used to get on THESE days. Middle Earth was fresh, wide and mysterious there, i still have accurate Memories of the sight of the Stars under WEATHERTOP, and the sight of the Sun and the Moon on top of It. The soundtrack IS so fitting that you feel Youre beyond your daily reality, magical. After so many Crazy soundtracks like Moria and Rohan, wich i believe ARE unsurparssing in the game, i never fell back to my First impression: THIS IS LOTROS IDENTITY IN MUSIC, ITS GREATEST MUSIC, the most pure expression of the ADVENTURING vibe this game gives you for mamy years. It should fit in the credits because WILDERNESS IS Just everything you see after leaving the confort of Bree, Shire and Thorins Hall. And STARS AND GLORY IS ALL the treasure and richess you get everywhere in ME. There IS no night theme in this game as afortunately appropriate and wonderfull as this. ITS so dear to me that i listen tô It While i study Astronomy and Astrology, and whenever i travel, Because It evokes that free roaming and individual greatness of exploring the World Spirit we ALL should have once and a While, since life IS too short. In brief words, BOTH THESE tracks contain ALL the GAMES ESSENCE and a the games (musical) VARIATIONS from other themes in It. And It might be because Thats what this Zone was when developed: your First leap out of the safe World and your First gaze into the distance where danger and peril lies. I always Will hear Lona Lands soundtrack on the Brink of tears Because It hits me so DEARLY and TENDERLY. FOR A LAST: i returned to this game Because It gives me Memories and a fantasy escape that IS now resting (but not forever locked) on my childhood, Because ALL my Wonderment with the World and fairy tales ARE turned on While im in It, no matter How Old, How underrated by Young players, no matter If alone or not, this game IS a jewell, and i pray that It stays on for decades as D&D IS loved on table. There ARE só many crappy escapes that people resort to today: porn, drugs, bullying others, fighting, polítics and so on, but people Will find here a refuge, a Place tô rest and tô dreams like a kid again.

Visiting Theodore Roosevelt National Park today and I keep thinking how it looks so much like LOTRO Middle Earth it’s amazing lol. The rolling hills and broken rock formations and wildlife. There was one spot I thought looked just like the fields outside Esteldin, and even had Bison roaming in place of Aurochs. (I swear I’ve never thought such a thing before in 17 years of tramping LOTRO.) So naturally I’ve been playing this video all day, which I’d already downloaded in iOS UA-cam.
