Hello Linda, I don’t have Elizabeth rose but I’ve seen it often in different UA-cam videos and colour is always pink, now I’m curious what makes it lemony yellow maybe the weather or your feed.😍

@nikkonch Hi Nik, yes very strange goings on haha I have no idea. Do you think it might be weather related or I could blame the landscapers dust ;) We are quite rural here with only a few sheep and cows nearby but who knows what's happening to the colour of my roses at the moment ?!

The landscapers have done a lovely job there Linda and I bet your glad to have your garden back. Your plants look amazing and don't seem to have been affected by all the dust that the workmen created over the past few weeks. Plants are tougher than we think. I love your Persian Roses in the wall planter. Not heard of those before but they're stunning. I had a whole morning yesterday catching up on my deadheading as we've had a few consecutive days of rain but I quite enjoy that job and a couple of the neighbours stopped to tell me that they really like looking at my sunflowers so that was nice. Can't believe how much our gardens change in just a few days especially when it's been raining. Thanks for the tour Linda and take care. xxx

@wendybartlett6717 Hi Wendy, thank you yes I'm pleased with how it all went and I am so happy to be back in my garden again I really missed it. The Persian Rose I asked my neighbour and she said it's a type of dwarf Impatiens Balsamina she said she's always known it as Persian Rose but I'd never seen it before I saw it in her garden last year. She saved some seed for me which was fabulous because I was able to sow them earlier this year and that came in very handy because she didn't have any coming up herself this year so I could give her some plants back this spring from her own seed ! Which I love :) They seem to like sun or shade so very versatile plants and they will flower well into autumn, if you want some seed let me know or I could box a couple of plants up for you no problem as I am over run with pots of stuff at the moment, you would be doing me a favour ! How lovely your neighbours are enjoying your garden I bet they really appreciate all your hard work. My postie appreciates the garden he's a bit of a joker, nice chap he said the other day 'I've got a statement for you' handing me an envelope ' you've got a beautiful garden!' The weather is supposed to be improving so hopefully you can enjoy your lovely garden and of course the endless deadheading we have to do but like you I don't mind that job except the petunias in my baskets are a pain sometimes, I have to wear gloves or get in a sticky mess ! Take care xxx

Wow! All up and running again Linda and looking lovely. I guess some things are worth waiting for huh? Certainly plenty of dead heading to do although by the time I write this you've probably done it all. It's interesting about Rural England. It was bred by Rumwood Nurseries/Garden Centre, Langley, Kent, (British Roses) just up the road from me by the Fermor family. I had one for many years and it was a real performer. For some reason I decided to replace it with a Generous Gardener perhaps 3 years ago. Was I right or wrong to do that? Time will tell. Your 'Our Beth' is gorgeous. How many pots do you have to water? It's OK, you don't have to count them - just lots. Timeless Pink looks to be one that I should try and find room for. We share Blush Noisette; one of my favouites - always very healthy. Several others too so it's interesting to compare. Looking at you Ghislaine I think mine needs some more grub. My Aloha is resting at the moment. I enjoyed the tour, thank you. Cheers! P.

@peterhaymaker7562 Hi Peter, thank you ! I'm so happy to get my garden back, can you tell ? Rural England is a lovely rose and such a wonderful perfume and it's pink of course :) You still have another one though if I remember rightly a quite magnificent one too, mine is only two years old so has a way to go yet but it is a stunner and I do love it. The Generous Gardener is a beautiful rose too, larger blooms you are lucky you can have both in your garden, that's lovely. The pots are an issue I know I have too many, I am reducing them but I had a lot of spring bulbs in pots also so maybe it looks worse than it is at the moment plus all the lilies and dahlias, as all the pots were kind of displaced from where they'd been on to the lawn - what am I saying !?! I have too many it's true I need to reduce them :) The thing is I like to squirrel them away when they've finished doing their thing as they look a bit unsightly when they die back so I just need a lot of pots ! Oh dear I'm sounding crazy now, Linda you have too many pots !!! 🤣Ghislaine will definitely appreciate a feed yes, I think she can be quite hungry she's a monster, she owns this garden LoL. Thanks for your lovely comments I hope you're enjoying your beautiful garden, the weather seems to be improving, take care.

Hi Linda, I was reading your reply and thought what is @@soulgirlktf taking about? Rural England???? Yes, I have two of them; what I took out was a Maid of Kent. Sorry to confuse you - my mistake. I had a lovely Maid of Kent, bred up the road, which I replaced with a The Generous Gardener, rightly or wrongly. I do have some lovely photos of my Maid of Kent. The 'Angel' is probably coming around to see me next week so I'll have to see how I can maybe send a picture of it when it was out in flower. Every year I say i'm going to grow less but somehow it doesn't seem to happen, pots included. Gislaine will get some food which I think she'll appreciate. She, like some of the others, is doing what actors do - taking a break or is it 'Resting'?. Yesterday I found some bulbs I knew I'd saved to be planted out last Autumn time and just couldn't find them. Concluded I'd thrown them away by mistake. Most still look OK so I'll stick them in the ground and see what happens. They all came out of pots. I could go on about the garden but won't, I'll just say, 'Bye for now'. Cheers, P.

@@peterhaymaker7562 Ah, Maid Of Kent now I understand. I'm sure The Generous Gardener will be a great choice for your garden it's such a beautiful rose, very elegant. I just fell in love with Maid Of Kent when I saw it down at David Austin's it was so impressive and I am drawn to that flower form. I do like the dainty cluster type roses and the effect of so many of them literally dripping in long panicles of double flowers it was really a sight to see looking up from beneath an archway, that's a couple of years ago now but when I bought this tall wooden arch recently I just had to get Maid Of Kent for it. I liked how pliable it appeared too, so training it shouldn't be too much of a battle for me but I might need some taller ladders ! I look forward to The Angel visiting you, I would love to see your photos of Maid Of Kent. Your garden is so wonderful we all want to see lots more of it, he will sort it out for you I'm sure. Ghislaine won't rest for long she'll be taking over your garden soon haha watch out :) Found bulbs are always good I found some in the garage at the start of the year that I'd lost and they were fine, it's always worth a try. Today I'm doing more tidy up around the garden, still have piles of stuff everywhere. I have staging and racks down by the shed which is behind the hedge in the back garden, full of plants to deal with and my toms are trying to escape from the greenhouse too so they need attention but it's all good the weather is being kind, have a lovely day, take care.

Yes, it really was lovely. Was it a mistake to take it down? Possibly. Time will tell. The Generous Gardener has big shoes to fill. The quick Whizz around the garden here doesn't show all the rubbish I have and there's plenty of it. Looking forward to seeing The Angel again and what he has to help me with. Weather really nice here today so off outside now. I hope you have a good day in your lovely garden. Happiness is..........garden shaped. Cheers! P.

Lovely garden Linda and I do love how well balanced it is. Busy and well balanced love it. Blue angle looking gorgeous. rural England is flying that looks like continual blooming. Your geraniums are growing tall ours like spread out like a ground cover. Did I see a minattire penny farthing bicycle? That maid of Kent you’ll need to keep an eye on that I think. 2 or 3 years that’s gonna be deep but easy enough to train. I see you getting rid of that gravel and replacing with soil at some point or full of pots :) The landscapers done a great job Linda :) I’m pretty sure that’s timeless pink just an odd flower on that one. Gorgeous garden Linda I enjoyed watching that :)

@Jay_Jay Hi Jay Jay, thanks so much ! I'm not sure about balanced but it's getting a bit tidier - still have too many pots to shift ! Re. the geraniums I think there are many, 100's even, of varieties some are more ground cover types like you mentioned and I do have some of those and some can grow quite tall. Yes the little display bike, I did have the soapwort in that earlier this year but I'm not sure what the heck happened to that pot, it's probably buried in a pile of stuff down by the shed haha that bike is another thing I need to shift, had it many years, it's just been abandoned by the fence when all the chaos started! Maid Of Kent I will definitely have to watch and keep in check. It's a magnificent display. I was stunned by it at David Austin's and the one at Kew is fabulous, I had to get it. I can appreciate it's only a once bloomer as you say but quite often those are the most spectacular performers, I am also planting a few clematis for additional interest in with it but if it grows too big for the arch I might have to send some of it over the arbour roof too haha. Sunny here again today, definitely being spoilt at the moment with the weather, hope you're enjoying your wonderful garden today, take care.

I am really pleased for you Linda - you have a garden again! And a super-duper improved garden at that! I can't get over the number of different clematis (and other flowers) you have. It does seem to be deadheading season at the moment, but looking on the bright side that's another flush on its way. I think maybe I should try a Sweet Honey cutting too, to be able to put one in the front garden - she's such a powerhouse of flowering. Are you sure that Timeless Pink is a Timeless Pink? I had a look online and that colour just isn't what I see there - but as I have learnt, roses can sometimes look totally unlike themselves, and you do say that colour is unusual for a TP - are the other blooms on it what you would expect? Our buddleias have been out for a week or two, and normally they would be attracting dozens of butterflies, but in this weird summer weather we are lucky if we see a single butterfly in the garden. It looks as if you will be very happily busy over the next days sorting things out and getting everything as you like it. I envy you the excitement, but maybe not the work involved!

    • @soulgirlktf
      @soulgirlktf 4 дні тому

@nikkonch Hi Nik, thank you so much ! It's definitely deadhead season here now. My poor roses were crying out for a tidy up, the clematis too. It is so nice to be able to get to things in the garden again but still finding dust everywhere, probably will for a while yet. You should try a Sweet Honey cutting yes, it seems a super strong variety and like you say a powerhouse of flowers. Timeless Pink for the most part looks as it usually does, it's just that one bloom that has the apricot / pink look about it. I looked on Peter Beales site, I think that's where I bought it and they actually describe it as 'Light pink to apricot' but I've never seen that two tone effect on it before and it's always been a fairly solid shade of pink for me, I say always, I've only had it a couple of years. I can only think it's the weather or maybe it didn't like the landscapers dust haha. I know what you mean about butterflies my garden is normally full of them but at the moment there are just a few. We were expecting heavy rain the last 24 hrs but we've had barely a drop, the water barrels are very low, can't believe I'm actually saying that after all the rain we've had this year ! Hope you are enjoying your lovely garden, take care.

Hi Lin yes it did get very confusing sadly. I’ll try and explain. I received “porcelain Parfuma” a few months back. When it flowered recently it had great fragrance, a bright pink, very very fragrant and I thought it was porcelain Parfuma. I also thought Linda would love it because I know she loves a fragrant pink rose. So I ordered one for her. In the coming 2 days it became apparent that my “porcelain Parfuma” could be a traitor rose. I emailed golden valley and they sent me a new one for free which I also happened to receive today. I’m hoping that makes sense now. Either way the important thing to remember is, Linda’s had flowers on. Mine didn’t! :)

I love you Father's Day story, we gardeners are always trying to justify the plant boxes that show up haha I was frantically trying to remember what on earth I'd ordered I was definitely protesting my innocence :) Jay Jay ordered Porcelain Parfuma but he was sent another rose in error, he did a video about it earlier this week, it may be Pink Perfection I don't think he's sure what they sent him. My understanding is, when he saw it he thought I would really like it, the perfume the colour etc so he very kindly arranged for them to send me one also as a surprise gift BUT after he'd arranged this he discovered it was in fact a different rose to Porcelain Parfuma, one of his viewers pointed out to him it didn't look right. So he is looking at the imposter thinking I would really like it, arranges for them to send one here, only to discover what he's arranged to be sent to me isn't what he received at all and wanted me to have ! haha I told you it was complicated 🤔 but it's such a fabulous surprise and I absolutely love it !

Must've been hot for them if they were working in last week's heat. We seem to have escaped those high winds that you've been getting. It's a wonder that you didn't get blown over when you were filming. I must try and master the art of deadheading with my fingers. Deadheading doesn't always work with fingers, I know what you mean I usually use snips but some roses let you snap some heads off. It's hard to resist when you're so close up with a camera and at the time I had a lot of deadheading to do :) I enjoyed some quiet time over the weekend tidying the roses up and faffing about just me and the birds, it was nice. Hope you had a good weekend? It's a bit drizzly off and on today a miserable day here but the workmen are keeping going. I have a nice new path to my greenhouse today which is wonderful the old one was a complete dippy doo all over and very dodgy in wet weather full of puddles and an ice rink in winter ! @@soulgirlktf Hi Linda, You should see the number of pots that I have and everyone comments on them. I was even at a garden centre and my neighbours were there and said, "Are you buying more pots?" I actually tidied up my messy corner (where I just chuck things) and put all the seed trays together and grouped the pots in their sizes. Linda, I was ashamed at how many I've accumulated over the years. I keep telling my family that they don't realise how many pots I use when I'm pricking out seedlings but seeing them stacked up in size order has made me realise that I have a hoarding problem. I'll have to look for a garden centre that can recycle them. Your new path to the greenhouse sounds good and a lot safer. @@soulgirlktf Actually the cement mixer idea sounds interesting - it would make your garden unique - you could be known locally as "the lady with the cement mixer in her garden" or perhaps your blunt northern neighbours would choose some word other than "lady"? I'm not sure I was "enjoying" my garden today Linda. It was quite warm, and I had a lot of plants (flowers to be) grown from seed in the greenhouse and had to start planting them out, some in hard dry clay (no rain here) and some in the softer new bed where I will be planting roses in the autumn. Then I dug over some of the (hard, dry) ground in the greenhouse to plant dwarf beans in there, as I do each year - and each year I am bemused to find stones in that same piece of ground despite having cleared it of stones every previous year - I think the mice must be carrying stones into the greenhouse during the winter - but why? Did Douglas Adams get it right in Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy when he suggested that the mice were actually conducting experiments on human beings? Are they doing this to see how I react?

You've had to wait a while, but now things have really got going haven't they Linda? You must spend whole days keeping that garden looking so tidy and yet so full of colour. The planning that's gone into it is obvious - I'm more of a slapdash let's see what happens sort of gardener. I envy your nose that you can smell so may things even with a cold (hope that disappears soon) - after seeing your video I stuck my nose in my Sweet Honey for a full minute today and I think, maybe, I did smell something, but that may have been autosuggestion. Unfortunately we have a potted wisteria in the front small patio area which I can smell very definitely, and it suggests to me a comfort stop for cats passing through - but my wife finds it unoffensive. Smell seems to be a very individual thing. But it seems unfair that my sense of smell seems more attuned to the nastier smells. The different colours on roses is something I am just beginning to be aware of. I bought a bare root Meteor rose last autumn and the first flower was dark red but now new flowers are coming out orange, and my first Eustacia Vyes were pink but now new ones are getting orange/yellow tinged centres, and Sweet Honey seems to turn pink - in fact at the end of last year I was wondering why a pink rose was named after honey.Or are my eyes letting me down as much as my nose?

@nikkonch Thanks Nik, scent I think is different for everyone. I don't have wisteria so I'll take your word on that ! Many cannot detect Sweet Honey, so you are in good company. Yes I've noticed Sweet Honey turning pink too, the weather and temperature can alter colour, Sophie AKA Gorgeous (unknown rose) but that name has stuck, she had some very pale pastel pink blooms on her last year and that looked really odd as the other half of the shrub was the darkest pink :) Hope you are enjoying good weather in your lovely garden this week, take care.

So lovely to see the first bloom on a new rose. The forecast is for better weather for a while now, I'm hoping so. Enjoy your garden and the good weather, take care.

What a gorgeous colour Linda and I do like an old rose fragrance. Can you believe it we had hailstones on Saturday and the whole garden was white. It looked like it had been snowing. Flaming June they call it!

@wendybartlett6717 Hi Wendy, hailstones ?! Crikey this weather ! Right now the sky here is black ! Heavy rain is forecast any minute, we have had so much rotten weather but the weatherman said summer might happen tomorrow here so I'm pinning all my hopes on Wednesday ! I think we're all sick of it now aren't we? It chucked it down yesterday just before I did the vid. She stood up to it so well and still looks good today so maybe she will be okay with lots of rain. Flaming June yep flaming rain more like ! Flaming needing the heating on in June 🥶what the heck ! xxx

@@soulgirlktf You're so right Linda. It is bloody cold and I'm so tempted to put the heating on. Never known a June (or year) like it. I keep saying it can only get better then something else is thrown at us. x

@rosegardengems Hi Gemma, sorry it was so short. I just wanted to get a quick vid of her because we had such a heavy downpour earlier it really bounced down and it's her first ever bloom I didn't want to miss it. She is a really lovely peachy/pink colour. 🍑

@@soulgirlktfThe colour of that rose was unique, I like it! I have the same feeling yesterday, I saw my rose cuttings which some are successfully growing and one has a bud with opening exposing the colour. I cannot guess the name of that rose, I’m not so orderly in putting name tags, I liked to be surprised. A lovely day to you!🌹🌹🌹
