Yours may be different. Simply use your auto stores website to figure out...
Thank you, lad.
What did it sound like before you changed it were there a noises or what made you change it just for ( the beginner)
I have a 2012 dodge avenger sxt my account blower isn't getting electricity, can't find the fuse or rely, can u help
If the actuator is on the driver side how do you get to it? I disconnected the one on the passenger side a year or so ago and now the one on the driver side is clicking. I never reconnected the passenger side one so it can’t be it.
This would be so easy if my hands could fit in there
That's your car was throwing out cold air
They should not charge people for this bullshit because everybody’s damn car is doing it look at these comments
Good video. I'm about to do a new video on this to let y'all know where the sound coming from follow me
My ac for my 2009 avenger has the knock noise as well and my cool air isn't cool If I replace the actuators and restock my refrigerate will the cool air last longer instead of just for two weeks
Great angles and location of problem actuator/s. Now I know what to do for my 08 sxt. Thanx.
No
Will this prevents it from blowing air harder ? I’ve heard the clicking sound and it seems like my ac don’t blow air as strong as it use too
Smack the bottom of the glovebox it’s like some fuzzy thing smack it and your good
I’m having this same annoying ass noise in my car! 🙄 this morning it was a bit worse than usual ..it started clocking out of nowhere on and off . It mostly does it when I crank up my car because the noise has moved from the passenger dash to the driver dash
Name it Trailey-McTrailface.
Yo thanks! I was so confused where that shit was coming from but thanks again
Where the other video
I'm currently having this issue with my 2014 Avenger. It does it all the time now. Unlocking the door, it clicks 2 times, turning on the ac or heat and it will just randomly do it while I'm driving without touching anything.
jennifer rice did you figure out what it was?
@@kayleynicole20 its behind my glovebox. It's the A/C.
Mine started about a week ago, but with the doors, seems like its doing it when the AC is on. Does it about every 20 minute up to 6 times.
Same concept with a 2012?
Hey how much did it cost? Mine is doing the same just now started. It clicks when I 1st turn on the air NOT the AC but the air panel only. Weird LOUD clicking about 10 clicks and then nothing until I turn the air panel on. Is it still the same or could ir be something else?
Before you buy a new one take the old one out and it dismantles pretty easy, (several plastic clips around the outside.) open it up and you will see that one of the bigger gear wheels will have broken teeth. take that one out rotate it 180 degrees so the broken teeth are not connecting to the other gear wheel and put it back together again. These actuators and gears have limited movement so the gears only turn 1/2 way. Saves you $25 odd dollars.
So do you have a video of the actual noise? Trying to figure out if this is the problem i'm having.
I'm sorry, I no longer have this vehicle. The noise was a fast paced clicking noise coming from the passenger side glove box region. This noise would only occur when some form of the AC was on.

Thanks for sharing this video, I was able to fix replace the actuator following your video
I wonder if changing mine could fix my heating issue. Drivers side gets hot air but the passengers side doesnt and its NOT a dual climate.
It's a $25 gamble!
Mine does the opposite and i already change it
@@ivansilva9797 when you changed it did your a.c. start working
Can you get the heater core out from there
McL sLiCk you will need to remove the dash to have access to the heater core and its 8-10hr job or more
Thanks!
mine is makin the woodpecker noise too, good video thanks man
How much is the part ?
If I remember correctly, I spent $20 through autozones website. It broke the same way 3 months later, and ended up buying the part through dodge for $40.
Did you have to replace all three of them
I just replaced the broken 1. Twice because the first replacement was cheap
ZackthePirate cool thanks
I have the same on my Avenger 2014 , Still not fixed , I hope I can fix it ,on passenger side
Ammar Dyab I have same year model and same exact problem. Did you ever find a fix?
I'm having this same problem now.
How much was the part cost you ?
That was easy. My man just fixed it. Thanks so much
We need more tutorials like this! Straight to the point. Bam!
I've had this issue with my car for the last 5 + years. I've actually gotten to be a pro at knowing what sets it off and what doesn't 😂 After seeing this video I will probably change it at some point. 😉 The one thing that most people don't realize is if you let it go it will stop after 30 seconds or so, in my car it does anyway.
jeff furrow - yes when I turn it on, off for heat or ac, if I turn the recirculating button on and if I turn the AC up to full blast it does it as well. Thanks for the tip I'll definitely try that for my car 😉
jeff furrow - My step son now has my avenger so im going to try your method to see if it fixes the issue so it doesn't freak him out 😂😂
jeff furrow unfortunately the wiring harness I found first shut down everything. Hopefully I'm able to find the correct one causing the issue tomorrow 😕
I do not know why I didn't see this video earlier, This freaking things been driving me crazy for ever it seems. The dealer! LOL They can kiss my ass, I took mine in to them for the shifter recall thing and the jacked up all my interior lights, I have no lights on the shifter now at all and the rest are blinking periodically. Then they say no way we did that, pre existing. No Joke. Like I am going to be happy and not tell everyone what asses they are. How weird. anyway DUDE! I am ordering that shit tomorrow and by that I mean i am going to auto zone. LOL> Thanks a million. i wonder if its the same part number for both sides.
How did you know which side made the noise. My car has the same problem but I don't know how to tell which side it is?
Cristal Guadarrama If it's the same type of problem then it will come from the passenger side. To figure out which actuator, you can actually put your hand on each to feel which is broken.
Thanks so much for this video.... just fixed mine!!!
Thank you very much for making this video and explaining what the problem was as well as how to fix it. I just replaced the exact same actuator on my wife's 2008 Avenger and your video helped tremendously. Thanks again!
Would your AC would blow cold even before replacing this?
will this prevent cold air from coming out of the vents if the actuator is malfunctioning?
will the AC blow out cool as soon as you replace it ?
Kaylee Estrada the air path will be fixed and the same temperature air will come out as does normally for your vehicle. If your AC is getting warm, then service with refrigerant. you can do that yourself or take it to a shop
is that on your driver side are passenger side
Tim Blackburn passengers side. there is no glove box on the drivers side
you dont alwayshave to replace actuator there is a small gear cog that actually sometimes slips out that you have to reinstall old actuator after removing to get lined back up just in case you guys wanna save some $$$

Thanks for the video and the information. I told my son about how car dealers wanted to take advantage of people, making it sound like is a really difficult task. By you explaining the procedure, it teaches a LOT of people that it only takes some patience, a little time and very little money to accomplish this, and you don't need to be a master mechanic! Thanks
Good close up's of the actuators and their locations!
so it's a clicking sound with a steady beat clicking, then sometimes doesn't blow? do those symptoms sound right? nice military sticker ;-)
Thanks I have 2012 Avenger and I did not know what that sound was..
I'm going to test to see if this is the same issue in my 2013 Avenger in about a week. Have you had any issues with the driver airbag monitor system in the driver's seat? I have a red light for the air bag and I think it's just the bungee that is pulling those cords. Any videos on how to do that? Thanks man!
I have not run into that issue. Good luck with your search!
me aswell recall to fix the problem
I'm having the same knocking noise however I've replaced both actuators in my 2010 Dodge Avenger and I still hear knocking/clicking noise. Is there a 3rd one somewhere? This time the sound seems to be more on the driver side than the passenger side
I have only heard of the two actuators. When mine was making the noise I could feel it through the glove box. I carefully dug through my car until I found the culprit. Good luck!
Have you fixed your car? I got same problem, replaced both actuators in my 2008 Dodge Avenger, and still got clicking noise. Clicking last about 20 seconds, usually after adjusting the cooling/heating, sometimes for no obvious reason.
Third one is under the steering colum
helpful af thanks bro
